i agree. personally, i ve always loved dressing up in a ladylike manner. i detest jeans! i feel fashion has just lost its edge. now its all about rehashing the past. At the most, the only innovations to come out nowadays in fashion are all about showing skin.
I don't know if this makes me weird but I want to dress like them on Halloween and since our school has a Halloween parade I want to act like an upper class lady and have all my friends go "WTF just happened to you!?"
The fashion nowadays is showing your bra and bikini to people or you walk without clothes.....We are in the modest days...Girls and women are so shy and modest, you cannot even think about starring at their exposed bodies. And men are so polite and don't treat women badly or violently...they are so gentlemen....high school youth exactly know how to treat their female colleagues and don't date them for illegal relations....The movies nowadays are full of polite words and manners...no violence or dirty sexual references.....I love "Nowadays" :) :) :)
Have a nice time! Oh you think this was "modesty"? Look up Marie Lloyd and take a look at some of her song lyrics! xD " she told them all shed never had her ticket punched before!"
+Have a nice time! You were saying how the edwardian era was full of modesty, but it really wasn't. The songs of the day had very sexual and risqué undertones (double entendre). Search Marie Lloyd, a music hall singer from this time. A lyrics from her song was "she told them all she never had her ticked punched before", a euphemism for sex.
Rcamels30 If this true and it seems to be true...I agree with you :)....I don't mean that everything at any time is perfect, you will find a percentage of wrong things :) but I mean that nowadays the image is not good at all :) Bikinis and immodest behaviors and clothes make the modest people uncomfortable...Thanks for your opinion, appreciate it :)..If you are against being wild...I salute you :)
+Have a nice time! To be honest it did seem like a pretty good time, nice clothing! And yeah, generally it was more lax in some ways, but not in others! ;)
"Gibson Girl" had dignity, a quality woman. She read dignified historical novels like "To Have and To Hold" and "When Knighthood Was in Flower". She was an aristocrat and a stickler for gallant behavior. Her appearance was proud and haughty, suggesting that she was a prize worth make some effort to win. Her clothing covered her from neck to heels but without any suggestion of puritanism, Gibson Girl had no stomach at all.
These pictures/ depictions, were of such eloquent, elegant, and sophisticated women. "Women", of today's standards are disgusting, and lack any elegance or pride. It's about labels and price. Not about Class, which no one can purchase, it's done.
Totally agree. Women of today are robbed of being able to look and dress femininely. The liberals today equate femininity with weakness in their pathetic, sad minds and mock those that do embrace their femininity. Why do we even follow that ideology? Ugh.
In 1901, when Anna Taylor went over Niagara Falls in a barrel, and Carry Nation sold miniature hatchets in the Senate gallery, the "Gibson Girl" saw these revolutionary gestures as what they were - symptons of neurosis and impendind decline.
dear Sarmux, I'm writing a research paper of Fashion styles of WWI and WWII. Your video has amazing images that are exactly what Im looking for. Could you please give me the sources where you found these images from? I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks for making this video! I'm writing a story set during the early 1900's and I'm trying to be as accurate about the fashion as possible. :)
Hey me too!
I don't know if this makes me weird but I want to dress like them on Halloween and since our school has a Halloween parade I want to act like an upper class lady and have all my friends go "WTF just happened to you!?"
Will this fashion ever come back? I hope so.
Try getting into a car in those dresses, would be OH NO WAY ! :D
Lot of fabric for hand-washing and ironing,
The only way to wear such dresses was to have braces on which was banned long ago , thank god for it.
I would love to see the Sears catalog for 1904! That was the inspiration for one of my favorite movies, "Meet me in Louis".
I have the full album of records to that movie ;)
People took such pride in their appearance. Just beautiful and creative. Thanks for the video.
Fashion today: Beer shirt, flip flops and sweats lol

The attention to detail is one aspect what separates their clothes from ours.
