I think what might be going on is that the code for that ability makes her bind whenever she deals damage from any source instead of just her dust motes, either due to the understanding that she wouldn't normally have the ability to do damage any other way or it just being easier to code it that way, hence aoe bind with the bard hand
Her S2 bind normally hit one of the enemy (not pierced) within 6 orbs, if the remaining orb is 0 the orbs gonna spawn much often at close proximity with last enemy bind (3.5 second bind each orb hit, true damage). The heal tick rate and bind relic make the bind happen really quick. Also, the +2 SP when dealing damage to seaborn enemies too. What a run. Bard/Phalanx/Therapist Relic + Root Relic combination.
