Hard to tell, as there are only really two of us working consistently on the project, and the scope keeps getting larger. -We are re-making pretty much every map in the game, with some maps being turned into entire sub-chapters instead of a hallway to walk through. -Arsenal is varied, but some weapons are there as hidden items, and some weapons are unique variants you can only find if you find secrets in the game and cannot be accessed with cheats. -I am not a weapon animator, so I do use CS 1.5 animations where I can, to fill in the gaps of unusable Valve rigs/anims. We did meet another team who was happy to share some weapon animations with us, so the arsenal may start to get a more cohesive identity in terms of animations in the future. -I believe JonnyQuattro, the lead programmer and co-founder, still has a standing offer to give out keys to Hard-Life if people 1v1 in HLDM on crossfire. -This mod is mainly being made for fun, all the Patreon money has gone right back into buying time of contract programmers, tools, and assets for development. -Hard-Life supports full co-op. We're sorry it's taking so long, but there is a lot to do. We are often learning as we go along, forced to pickup new skills and learn new systems of goldsrc to accomplish the goals we want to.

I like how the Tau cannon uses an automatic rotating front thing like the assualt rifle from Gunman Chronicles I really like to see that mod/game get more attention.
love how the maps look in this mod, kinda reminds me of how Black Mesa was able to improve and make the facility look much nicer in its game. The only thing I'm not a huge fan of are the weapons, I don't mind an extended arsenal but from the looks of it there doesn't seem to be any direction for how the weapons look and feel. It looks like someone just downloaded as many weapon addons as they could from gamebanana and moddb and cobbled it together into a weapon pack.
@@santiago8816I'm not talking about specifically the extended arsenal, all the weapons look like they have a lack of direction in how they look and how they're animated. It's not a big deal overall but design consistency can help to make a mod more polished and well-made.
Yep. - The shotgun just looks like it was ported in from a different game - The crowbar and revolver's old nearly untextured looks don't mesh with the slightly more detailed weapons _at all._ Even in the base game they looked like leftover beta stuff but now, hooo boy.
The beginning is funny because there are details in the structures that show more security than the original, but an experiment also explodes next to a window and there is a little chaos in the surroundings
Correction, this is not a remaster but a remake. Remasters are just the game having higher detail models, textures and sometimes even engine! Remakes are made from scratch, having their take on the game and changing different things to appeal to a modern audience (take for example Black Mesa).
This is practically Black Mesa In GoldSource. Now that i think about it, i had an idea for a mod that replaces Black Mesa sounds, models and textures with the ones from Half Life, and Vice Versa.
one thing I really appreciate is how the maps have been remixed to make more sense of black mesa's design, alot if not most of the facility felt nonsensical and video game-y instead of a real place. truly impressive work
I was full aware of Hard-Life from almost 3 years ago as I find the mod interesting before HL: Mmod got released. It a great recreation and I hope the mod gets released in early access
Valve remastered their original game to update engine, fix some stuff and run properly on modern systems. This is mod, it runs on older version of HL engine with it's own issues, but with new or changed content. Learn the difference and/or don't use clickbait titles.
EDIT to clarify: This is not bad looking but it is an outright lie to call this a "Remaster". This is a remake, not a remaster. Too Many differences to be a mere remaster. Everything is done with different philosophies, only remaster element seems to be that it follows the same path. Enemy placement differs, Lighting is horror ambience as opposed to gritty, Enemy Behavior DRAMATICALLY differs to the extent its basically entirely different enemies in some cases(Zombies particularly), difficulty is spiked hard up due to the enemy changes, map differences are so wide and dramatic that its not even the same facility fully anymore.
It would be cool to see headcrab getting used to human body as the game go on to the point like at the start because how a headcrab can get used the the nervous system that fast

Oh man, I'm looking forward to this one. Love the new dialog with expletives. I was laughing so hard, especially the one "Oh dear, I don't I was supposed to press that button. Uh, it'll probably be fine." The new areas are perfect in their placement and make sense to the locations, especially that security station by the elevator. Not a fan of the running mutants though. They were fine in their shambling states and makes more sense for them to do that.
i used to think scientists failing experiment and dying in half life 1 is a comedy skit, but now it looks to me like a reference to programmer experience where you break your code and shit's breaks

I hope they add more enemies spawn In original, small 1v3 gunfight is not that fun And just like mmod, they should add pure click based firerates And most importantly, if the ai's primary target system is based on the creature that attack friend mobs, that would be awesome Fighting against monsters first, and fighting with military next
At first I was like. "That's presumptuous of you." but it seems this very much has a bit of identity to its own, I like it, it still preserves that bizzare wackiness that HL1 has that I feel black mesa largely lost. (And bluntly there is a charm to the older asset style in my opinion)

I really love map design from this remaster mod likes they're put engine to their limt and it remind me of Half-Life : Enriched but it miles better!

This is actually awesome because after beating Half-Life for like the 30th time I had just memorized everything and it became quite easy.
The voice acting is incredibly well done. It doesn't sound out of place at all, which is often the case with community driven projects.
