Im going through this same saga at the moment. Wifeys ed fairmont. Struggling to start, especially when warm. When it finally does, it feels like it's going to rip the engine mounts to shreads and fling its way out of the engine bay. Have swapped the ignition module with a good spare one ( tested ok ). Just want to get coil out and clean up and check out with ohms meter while im there. Ford and all their wisdom with those bloody log manifolds not making anything easy to get to 🤦‍♂️

You dont need to pull the pin off, you push it in like a button and the plug will come off

i have an NC Fairlane i need to change the coil on and i cant seem to get to the damn thing i have about 5 inches of room from underneath the car, i might just try to unplug it from the dizzy and the loom and plug in the new one and let it swing untill i have access to a hoist!

If it's not the coil it's more then likely the TFI module on the distributor, there notorious for failing
