Hey. Sorry for my rumble at the beginning, I probably talk nonsense too much. I feel embarrassed looking back to it, but hey - perhaps someone will find something useful in it. Also, English is not my first language, and it is tough for me, but I am trying.
I actually enjoy this format and really appreciate that you don't make any cuts in the recording. I find it really difficult when creators make a cut almost every other word to splice together a monologue. I'm also curious, what is your first language? 🙂
I get excited every time I see one of your videos in my feed. I love getting a peek into your creative process. I also enjoyed the ramble, for what it's worth - you're a great communicator and your approach is refreshing!
I'm working on my first drum & bass track and so this has been helpful. Thank you, good track....you can hear those 1950's eerie sci-f sounds, unique! :)
Great track! I've always been curious about what makes IDM or Intelligent DNB different than the rest of the genre. This song sounds like a mid-90's 4Hero jungle track to me.
Don't apologise brother.. I'm English and I can't speak any other language and I understood everything you were trying to say. Decent track too....Keep going :)
Nice to see you back IJO I to have Amigo sampler I agree it’s a good sampler 4 sure. I also have my S1000 Connected to one of my macs via SCSI and I use Recycle to chop up and you can Transfer the chops from Recycle to the S1000 it even creates the programs and key groups as you do manually all correctly trust me saves so much time. I Strongly suggest anyone using any of these classic samplers with SCSI connection use it Trust me.
Hey ! Yeah, that's true. But I don't have that extra piece of kit to be able to connect, and when using the sampler, I actually like to sample stuff as it gets colored :)
@ that’s what i do i sample into my s1000 and open Recycle and in there you see your sampler connected and you can then transfer what was just sampled on the s1000 into Recycle
I think I if you haven’t already done some upgrades to your s1000 ie new PSU for starters im put a upgrade in mine it’s silent, secondly I changed the screen to a blue LED screen nice and bright, and 3rd I put a Gotech emulator in mine and got rid of the floppy along with get my hand on a Old skool mac and put a SCSI card in there. That will Ignite the Flame my bro 👊
I am really into your music, definitely vibing with his one I love the steady percs playing 1/8th coming at some parts of the break, are they part of the break or did you add them on top?
I would be interested to know what your sonwriting process looks like. You show which samples you select beforehand. But there must have been a process before that. how do you select? When I write a song in the DAW, I try out different melodies and phrases live. With you, it seems as if your songwriting only starts AFTER you've already created the sounds. How do you know in advance what sounds good and what fits? thanks in advance
Hey ! That is actually a very good point. I have many different workflows, depending on what I do. For jungle related stuff, i mostly make my own samples, and after I gathered enough for making a track - i just try and make something out of that, and usually it works great 9 times out of 10. I believe I just build a great intuitive workflow over the years, where I already know what would sound good. However, whenever I make a lot more melody based music, like jazzy stuff, I do things completely differently. I make some sort of rhythmical base, on which I build melodies. That involves me trying out different instruments, playing melodies, finding a great melody or a riff and then building everything else around it. I should do a video of such sort where I build a melodic track from scratch.
@@IJOSoundVideo I find your Junge Workflow so appealing because then you don't get so lost in trial and error. You simply work with what you have prepared and don't try out 1000 other synths.
@@ingor.779 Exactly. If you think about it, back in the 90s most of the sample based hip hop / jungle was made by getting lots of samples together and then making tunes from that. In my case, i sample less, and try to make as much of my own samples as possible. So basically, i even play melodies and then convert that to a sample, so technically I decide on what sort of melodies it is going to be, but since jungle is generally pretty minimal music, layering that melody with a break and an 808 bass works pretty well. It is when you start stacking melodies on melodies, say - a chord riff of electric piano, an electric bass, then building other melodic elements on top, it gets a lot more complicated and needs a different point of production view, in my case at least.
I use mimic from time to time. But I like Amigo for its different coding and algorithm. It is like an actual hardware sampler with a good character straight out da box. Mimic is transparent sounding in this regard. For time stretch, i am using Akaizer exclusively. Even for the Akai stuff I do, I time stretch with Akaizer and resample back in to the akai.
There's like 3 of them, i believe i took it from some loopmasters sample pack :D Can't remember which one, i only have the break folder without any names.
Great video! Love Amigo too. And too much tweakin kills inspiration for sure. I’m in thee deepest abyss right now, latest track is structure wise ready, but waiting to do a proper mixdown. Don’t like the mixing process at all and I’ve been escaping from it like for over week now 😆 For some reason you intro threw me back to late 90’s Breakbeat Era - Ultra Obscene album. Even if it’s more like 2step beats, but the basic aesthetics resonates that sound. ❤ ruclips.net/video/FTtxVqqsiQI/видео.htmlsi=34Az58Yd7_BDe2Sz
Hey ! That intro actually sounds similar, although i have never heard that tune before, albeit knowing Breakbeat Era very well. As for the mixdown part - yeah, this is something i don't like as well. It is a lot easier for me when i do that on hardware. When i mix in a DAW i run in to a wall of options and that kinda sucks because i always end up coming back and changing things, trying new plugins etc. which only takes up time.

No need to apologize! A little personal story is always welcomed and it makes better connection with the audience! Keep up the great work!

Really cool track too! Nice contract between that more eerie melody and the relaxed deep chords

You're probably talking a bout those ghost notes, they're part of the break.
@@IJOSoundVideo They're not really ghost notes, but after a second watch it seems like it's part of the first part of the break.
You hear it here 8:09
@@nickskywalker2568 Yep, this is part of the break .

Can I also ask, did. you try to use Reason Mimic sampler instead of Amigo and what were your thoughts on it's time stretching etc?
