    wow very nice, just what i was looking for i saw a sparrowhawk one faithful morning walking around our compound, it had flight problem because it hit its wing at the wall due to the speed it used to attack a prey so i was able to capture it.THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO REALLY HELPED.

    I have now become a bit of an expert at spotting Sparrowhawks (purely by luck I must add) having seen many of them in all their actions.They are elusive and can best be seen in the air gliding liks small Buzzards probably eying up prey.T o see one strike is usually just a case of being in the right place at the moment.Jim.

    Dear feathers & fur ,i have a female sparrowhawk that has chosen a high tree stump on a tree at my back neighbours garden to devour her catch ,will she return on a regular basis if she feels comfortable there ?,today she was mobbed by three magpie`s trying to take a few snippets and flew away.

  • @christophnachname3223

    I think she weighs a little bit too much thats why she comes on the glove so slowly, the condition and weight is essential for sparrowhawks and thats why there so hard to train

    Has this bird made any captures yet?
    Do you plan to let the Sparrow hawk go?
    We havent had any luck turning hand raised Sqirrels loose.
    So the last few litters we've had we have turned them over to an animal rehabilitation facility where they have lots of land
    Our streets and many cats are Squirrel killers for sure.
    I believe 3 of our Squirrels were killed on the street and know for sure that one was killed by one of our cats. That one simply didn't have fear of anything. All it knew was our love. It would follow me back to the door when I took it outside.

    Hello, how much food sparrowhawk need in a day????

    • @FeathersandFurFalconryCentre
      @FeathersandFurFalconryCentre  5 лет назад +2

      Tariq Aziz that's determined by your training and food type. If this is your first bird I would seriously reconsider, spars are NOT a beginners bird. If you mess up just ones days feed your bird could fit and die. Do you have help or a mentor?

    why does the female sparrow-hawk need you unless you are carrying out a breeding programme to propagate their genus? .. if you must interfere with nature please at least do something useful and train Lucy to kill the invasive annoying pest species Collared Dove and not our indigenous Blue and Long-tailed tit, which she does by nature .. if you are able to chat "hawk" then could you please somehow relate to Lucy that there is loads more meat on a Collared Dove (expanding exponentially in numbers) than there is on a House Sparrow or a Blue Tit (both declining dramatically in numbers in the UK)

    • @FeathersandFurFalconryCentre
      @FeathersandFurFalconryCentre  4 года назад

      Mike Norledge we might not be able to ‘chat’ Hawk (although that would be very useful in many many ways) but Lucy does help us educate the many people that don’t even know they have this amazing predatory bird right on their door step. Interestingly I read an article about the blue tit I think in a woodland being surveyed at the time of DDT and the numbers proved that although yes spars do like the easy kills it’s disappearance did not equal a massive increase in song bird population. I will rack my brain to find the link or where I read it.

      Game keepers are our british birds worse nightmare, introducing phesants and killing raptors. P.S I live in the forest of bowland in the woods, I get great, coal, blue and longtail tits at my birdhouse all at the same time joined by woodpeppers, blackbirds, house sparows, nuthatch, robims, yellow wagtails, and lots more, but no doves.

    Isn’t it a bit self serving trying to place anthropomorphic attributes to Mother Nature?
