The change to game cards is just another dystopian nightmare where we can't even own copies of games. I hate the idea of game cards from a retro game culture and game preservationist standpoint.

Unless you find an employee who is willing to lose their job, they are not going to sell $0.03 games. Best case scenario is if you take games to self-checkout, and price goes thru without alerts.

So getting games for $1-5 and up to $10 is a good thing, especially since the games are the same whether you buy them at launch or six months (or more) later. Actually if you wait until long after launch you get the fixed versions since by then they usually have any issues patched out. That's also why I prefer buying long after launch since so many games release in an unplayable state at launch nowadays. So why support a company that has released a defective product with a full price sale.

@@MrWrightWay you know I’m just clowning. It’s my upper Midwest upbringing. We always say if we’re not busting on you, we don’t love you. I’m just happy you’re helping to get the word out about the sale going on, so some more folks get a chance to get their hands on these deals.
I ended up going to 3 different Walmarts and picked up Id guess 20-25 different games for about $200. I didn't get the best games though as they had already been picked over. Missed out on Nier, World War Z, etc. I had showed up to my local Walmart Wednesday morning to check, the employee acted as if I had no clue and was wrong, and show back up 2 mornings later to find it all picked over. I wouldn't put much stock into what that employee told Wrightway about physical games though. Unless he was the store manager, he likely doesn't have a clue and even if he was, he still may not have a clue. This could easily be a situation of Walmart clearing stock of inventory that isn't selling to make room, shrink inventory, change layouts, etc.
I know Walmart stores will only consider price matching online prices if the online listing says shipped and sold by Walmart. They won’t price match 3rd party listings
Walmart is the retail industry leader. If they are getting rid of physical games for digital codes, that means the game companies signaled that this is the way forward and will affect all stores.
Can concur that each Walmart is different, especially with Clearance prices. Had one in my area in Florida mark games not on their mod to $5 or $10 a couple months ago. And you got lucky with those 3-cent games, those are not supposed to be sold.
Case in point…just found about 30, 3-cent games. Store would not sell them, which is odd because was told they are just going to get thrown in the trash.

Ended up hitting four in the Phoenix area and was able to score around 20 games which was a mix of Switch, PS4/5, and Xbox. A majority were in the same $5-10 you found. Even got some newer/higher value games like Armored Core VI and Pikmin 3 for half off. Wouldn’t have thought to go unless I saw your video so thanks brotha for the hookup! Also, was chatting with one of the Walmart employees and he was making it sound like they were going to keep putting out more stock of other titles periodically over the next couple weeks. Not sure if that’s true for all Walmarts but I’ll prob be stopping every couple days to check. Keep up the good work Steve! 🤙🏽
Download cards are so dumb if I wanted a digital copy I’d get it online. Other than as a gift they are basically pointless, but a store/shop card is a better choice by far. Gives the recipient a choice rather than maybe receiving a game they didn’t like/want.

Yeah i work at walmart and came in on Wednesday and got unicorn overlord for $30 new and star ocean second story r for 20 new and a couple other games for $5.00 each. Any time you can get a new atlus game for $30. Not bad. Got them for the switch

I’ve gotten games like Hades for Switch at $5, five nights at Freddy’s collection for switch $10, South Park stick of truth $5, and so on. Look in the clearance section that most Walmarts have. Just as a side note and question: does anyone else have a Walmart in their area that has prices on older pops and games set at eBay prices? I know of one in Alabama that has older pops and other collectibles set at eBay prices and I wonder if anyone else encountered this?
That World Of Outlaws game at 1:13 is quite decent if you enjoy racing games, but the damage model isn't perfectly realistic, but they are 900 horsepower beasts with very little grip that are hard to hang onto at first.

Always YMMV for Walmart clearance. I've seen games that have been clearanced for years at other locations still at MSRP at the local store. Hope to find something before someone fills a shopping cart.

So I visited a bunch of Walmarts here in the Atlanta area and found many $0.03 games that they flat out refused to sell to me. The reason being is those 3 cent coded games aren’t in the system any longer and are marked to be either donated or thrown away but they will not sell them.
Only in USA 🇺🇸 not in 🇨🇦 cheapest game I got was gamestop $0.50 cents ps vita collection lol and my friend working at gamestop purchased it for me. Our Walmart don’t go that low 😢

I did go to one outside of my home town and found every spot with a discounted game was sold out, except one game. It was the last copy of Lords of the Fallen, and I scored it for $20. Not too bad.
Cool deals, makes sense though. In the last 3 years Epic has given me 270+ games for free, thousands in games, there's tons of competition and the most people are playing fortnite/warzone/genshin etc.

The app should be giving you the price of that Walmart, if you have GPS turned on. But you are right, WalMart does their pricing based on the area. So prices can be different at each one. They have had $5-$10 XBOX games at my WalMart for the last few months

cool you got those, but i'm not going to bother... Walmart's near me never put them on clearance. I've checked in the past when these clearances come up and they will put them on sale but never clearance. I have also learned these clearances are usually regional and never price matched.
I hope that it's not what they are planning to do , because I've always been a case disc owner at least 90% of my games are all discs , the rest is digital because gamestop didn't have the games in stock at the time I actually miss the time when I didn't have to download the disc game into the console to be able to play it , it was simple when all you had to do is put your disc in and just start playing and you didn't have to worry that much about storage space in your console
Walmart started the $5.00 sale 4 weeks ago . The whole xbox cabinet at my local Walmart was all priced at $5 including Steelbook versions . They are only carrying the top 10 sellers for xbox and making more room for PS5 & Switch . Sony and Nintendo always Saud the Game Pass is not sustainable and it isn't. Microsoft are losing money on it and it's not expanding it user base to make AAA games viable on Xbox.
I regret buying digital games for years I want to start a game collection. Should I start with old games I’ve played? Or old consoles and games I never to played like the Pokémon’s on the 3DS?

How do you know what games are on sale? I was using the Walmart app barcode scanner but they weren’t showing up at the price

I was literally just at my Walmart and they had Back 4 Blood & Call of Duty Vanguard for PS4/Xbox One for .03 cents each like 20 copies total and they would not sell them 2 me cause they had been "Recalled"..

Always YMMV for Walmart clearance. I've seen games that have been clearanced for years at other locations still at MSRP at the local store. Hope to find something before someone fills a shopping cart.
Got two Walmarts by me and both of them have gutted electronics sections. Shelves are always pretty much bare. A couple newer releases but that’s it. 😢

So I visited a bunch of Walmarts here in the Atlanta area and found many $0.03 games that they flat out refused to sell to me. The reason being is those 3 cent coded games aren’t in the system any longer and are marked to be either donated or thrown away but they will not sell them.
I was at one Walmart that had the plan-o-gram up with the reduced Xbox section

My dude those Walmarts you go to have SO much more games than the ones I go to, they don't even have most of these games you showed. I did go to one outside of my home town and found every spot with a discounted game was sold out, except one game. It was the last copy of Lords of the Fallen, and I scored it for $20. Not too bad.

Cool deals, makes sense though. In the last 3 years Epic has given me 270+ games for free, thousands in games, there's tons of competition and the most people are playing fortnite/warzone/genshin etc.

Just got back from my walmart, got goat Sim 3, THPS 1&2, PVZ, Neir and active life for 30 bucks tried getting the 3 cent games but they wouldn't sell them, how did you get em to sell em to ya?
The app should be giving you the price of that Walmart, if you have GPS turned on. But you are right, WalMart does their pricing based on the area. So prices can be different at each one. They have had $5-$10 XBOX games at my WalMart for the last few months

Man, I’m a say you must’ve lucked up on one hell of a Walmart employee because them three cent games as many people have said aren’t even supposed to ring that I try to get a few myself and the system straight up denies it both a regular register and self check out.
cool you got those, but i'm not going to bother... Walmart's near me never put them on clearance. I've checked in the past when these clearances come up and they will put them on sale but never clearance. I have also learned these clearances are usually regional and never price matched.
I hope that it's not what they are planning to do , because I've always been a case disc owner at least 90% of my games are all discs , the rest is digital because gamestop didn't have the games in stock at the time
I actually miss the time when I didn't have to download the disc game into the console to be able to play it , it was simple when all you had to do is put your disc in and just start playing and you didn't have to worry that much about storage space in your console
Walmart started the $5.00 sale 4 weeks ago . The whole xbox cabinet at my local Walmart was all priced at $5 including Steelbook versions . They are only carrying the top 10 sellers for xbox and making more room for PS5 & Switch . Sony and Nintendo always Saud the Game Pass is not sustainable and it isn't. Microsoft are losing money on it and it's not expanding it user base to make AAA games viable on Xbox.
