A Long Way From Tupelo from Paul Thorn's album of the same name. Shot by Stewart Production Services at the New Daisy Theatre in Memphis. Edited by Palmtree Productions in Tupelo.
Pual Thorn is still the greatest largely undiscovered songwriter and artist for roots music in the world today. It's a crying shame that the only place you can hear his music is on satellite and public radio station. this is my favorite new artist of the last 10 years.
I Went to Ole Miss and been following Paul for a long time. Twenty years later, I coach the Bass Man's(Doug) Son (Justin)on the Grassland Middle School Football Team in Franklin, TN. Crazy story how I found out Doug was in the band. Anyway, Justin is a Team Captian and is THE bad ass on the team. GO GENERALS
Great song! Great Memories . I was there in the front row. I was a fan for a while and this my first time to get to see him live. Since then I've seen him many times. anytime he's within 200 miles I try to go the show. What a great songwriter and singer.
You rock, Paul. I live in a little hole in the wall between Pontotoc and Oxford called Toccopola and in this song, you describe my town perfect! Haha. I used to only be 8 miles from Tupelo but now its about 28. It feels like a LONG way from Tupelo if you've never been there!
+Pat Hesselgrave His Music Label is Perpetual Obscurity Records..They don't and won't kiss ass.... That's the reason you don't hear him on the radio...
Name me five - I wanta check out their product right now. Delbert McClinton, John Hiatt, and John Prine, who are American music icons sure like him a lot.
He’s great live! And yes buy whatever swag of his you can!! Stupid Rona took away my chance to see him live for the 3rd time in August 2020. If you like Paul and haven’t already heard of Fred Eaglesmith then check him out as well.
For lyric writing Paul Thorn is up there with Delbert McClinton and James Harman - God save me from the other lazy sods in the blues world who sound like they're making up the lyrics as they go. eg. the "I was walkin' down the street, I saw my baby and she looked [ yes,] so sweet.
I think he's the best singer & songwriter out there today! His band is always tight on tour & he just gives it everything he's got, every time on tour. A blast in concert!
NO, there are a million guys who WISH they could write and play songs like this.

Did that come from the Surgeon General???
A nice cigarette , a cold beer , and Paul Thorn Band.... I'm good.

keep up the long work.... as long as you can... Totally admire your songwriting, and songs.
Bill Hinds has been tearing it up on guitar for many years. A long way from Kegler's Kove!

NOW 12 IDIOTS GIRL !!!
ha ha!! they are multiplying everywhere these days!! lol
They just aren't far enough away from Tupelo.
He's one of those few who still makes story's in songs, instead of that bullcrap rap which has no song to it at all, You win man ^^
