    Sickest sounding bike I've ever heard. Can't wait for the 2015.

    I modded my airbox also with -1/-2 at the time of the vid. I had ran -1 up front and the acceleration was insane, had problems keeping the front wheel down. I'd like the see the comparison now against the s1k after the tuning since the power is on par. The power delivery of the R1 is unmatched, so after working out all the stock R1's shortcoming I would love to see how they would compare on a track. Not taking away anything from the BMW but Yamaha seriously hadicapped it from the factory.

    this bike is bloody amazing :D i loooove R1s :)

    Yea they fit great. Any 3/4 system is going to take time lining everything up perfectly before tightening it all down. As far as fitment, I can't complain at all about either piece. I took my time and it all lined up great, just make sure you leave ALL bolts loose until you get it where you want it. The M4 pipe especially needs to be loose to allow the cans to line up with the tail of the bike evenly. Be warned, the Hotbodies cans are LOUD! I dont think they offer DB killers for them either.

    Also, don't be suckered into thinking that if you have the expensive exhaust systems on your bike you will make more hp. In the end you are only paying for a name. All the systems out there have the same diameter piping and bends so exhaust gases will move the same through them. The fit and finish might be better on the high $ systems but the performance will be the same. My bike isnt a show queen, it's an asphalt carving machine. Sure it's louder than most but thats the way I like it!

    I have a program called flash tune, it comes with an interface that plugs in to the ECU and allows you to change just about everything on it. 10 times the tunability for the same price as a power commander. The pc V won't allow you to remove the factory restrictions that Yamaha put on the US models.

    Yep, the crossplane R1 does have the most unique exhaust note.

    I believe the cam tensioner problem was fixed in '11. I totally agree, the ECU reflash should be your first mod, period. Get rid of the cat and the heat problem goes away. F**k emissions and the tree huggers that cry about global warming.

    ECU Unleashed is a good option but it doesnt allow you to remove all the factory restrictions. I use flash-tune and I'm able to flash the ECU myself.

    I new this had to be in some southern state. Look at those boots.

      Hmmmm, not really sure if I should take offense from that comment, but nice observation on the boots though. Not really sure what wearing boots have to do with being from the South. Since I was around of lots of things that could smash my toes that day, I decided to wear my steel toe work boots for my own personal safety.

    Very good results! How much more extra ignition timing could it take comparing to completely stock ignition map? And what octane are you running?

    • @MrOilfieldtrash21
      @MrOilfieldtrash21  9 лет назад

      Alexander Actually we retarded the timing a few degrees in the mid - top end but added fuel.

    Why does this one sound like a V8 (I know why, crossplane crankshaft) but other R1s dont? Is it just the exhaust system he has?

    • @MrOilfieldtrash21
      @MrOilfieldtrash21  10 лет назад +4

      The firing order of the cylinders makes it sound that way. The exhaust system I have adds very little restriction so it's VERY loud.

      Sounds great man, I've been looking for this exhaust let me know if you want to let go of it. A friend of mine has this exhaust I put it on my channel it's so sick in person. Vibrates your body like subs.

    I believe the mustang dyno is forced. I know it sets a load equal to the weight of bike and rider on the rollers. And yes it did shake when starting off, had to feather the clutch a good bit.

  • @2slofouru
    @2slofouru 8 лет назад

    How do the crossplane motors hold up over time? They sound great but I rode a 13 I'm considering buying and it shakes like a biatch when accelerating. The guy replaced the clutch at 5k miles and obviously didn't take care of it with the rear tire having zero tread. I'm concerned he did a fubar job when doing the clutch, the shake reminds me of when a flywheel to crank bolts on my car were loose. I have two subarus, so rumble is great, but it just seems a design inspired by motogp would be more refined even when from a stop.

      @MrOilfieldtrash21  8 лет назад +1

      2slofouru I have never had a problem with any kind of vibrations or shaking. I've got over 8000 miles on it and I run it pretty hard, no abuse but I do push it. I've worn out 2 rear tires so far and my clutch is still solid. There must be more going on with that bike than he is willing to tell.

    I am looking at your description, and did the custom map on the ecu cancel the need for a power commander? Im trying to figure out what exhaust set up to run on my 2013 but i'm more concerned with gettin it tuned to run right.

    • @MrOilfieldtrash21
      @MrOilfieldtrash21  10 лет назад

      Yes the custom tuning software will completely eliminate the need for the power commander. The software can all so be programmed for quickshift if you add the shift sensor to the shifter linkage. A while back they were working on having the software rev match the engine on downshift too. Not sure if that feature is available yet.

    I just got the ecu reflashed by a shop using a program called "ECU UNLEASHED" to remove factory restrictions. Is the same thing you just described ? By the way thanks for the info!!

    What AFRs did you target to get 174? I've been told 12.8 ~ 12.7 down low and 13.0 up high.

    Oilfieldtrash21 I'm saving to buy an R1 around that year...'12-'14. Can you tell me how hot they run cruisin around town and highway/interstate? How much does tuning help w/ that?

    • @MrOilfieldtrash21
      @MrOilfieldtrash21  10 лет назад +1

      The heat from the cat converter near your right leg can be unbearable at times with or without proper tuning. Do yourself a favor and lose the converter the day you get the bike. M4 offers a y-pipe of good quality that will take it's place. Then you can install race baffles in your stock exhaust cans(which is a MAJOR pain in the a$$ to do but does gives good results and makes the bike a lot louder) or go with some completely new aftermarket cans. Just keep in mind that you do not have to have the top of the line most expensive cans to get good performance. Gains from using brand X cans vs brand Y cans are minimal at best. I gave around $600 for both my cans(HotBodies MGP's) and made just as much power as I could if I had bought the top of the line Akra system. The fit and finish will be somewhat better on the more expensive brands but you will not gain any more power. The power comes from the tuning. There is LOTS of room for improvement from how a stock R1 comes from the factory. The US models came with some restrictions but the Flash-tune software will allow you to remove all of them and let your bike run as it was intended.
