camaroboi13 that makes no sense what so ever, you said back pressure on an engine thing is a myth and now your saying you need back pressure, I just said you have to have back pressure on a n/a engine. Not once did I say he was straight piped, I can hear perfect I know he has cats.
There is plenty of research/information out there explaining how a 4stroke exhaust system works efficiently, and it has nothing to do with cats or mufflers.
Thumbs definitely up, you have a nice clean truck. I was gonna do cherry bomb extreme but went with flowmaster super10 single in dual out, dumped at the axel for my 5.3. Sounds awesome in my opinion. People will walk up to me and say how mean it sounds. Having it for a few month has only made me want louder hahaha
Back pressure is a myth. I've been running true straight pipes (no cats or mufflers) on my 07 Chevy with the 5.3 h.o. for 5 years with no issues. The computer makes all the adjustments needed for proper fuel/air ratio.
Ran my 93 Sonoma 4.3 CPI Vortec bored 0.030 out with a gutted cat and no muffler for months. Installed a glasspack prior to selling the truck and it made the truck run noticeable smoother and made a bit more power. Im not supporting anyones "theorey" here but just found my findings interesting
its a real principle. No it wont destroy your engine or cause noticeable losses, but its something thats been proven to exist. especially in super high performance vehicles
Just Bought a very clean 2008 1500 with a 4.5" lift , wheels, tires, 3"mbrp catback... first full sized truck ive ever owned and I love your videos ....when ive already bought too much shit for my truck, I watch your videos for more motivation . Thank you!!!!
Love it! I put a flowmaster super 10 on mine. 3 inch in, dual 2.5 out with 3.5 inch wide SS tips. Love it on mine. Can't wait to see the new exhaust you're getting!
Invest in a tpms stem removal stick it’s a yellow stick at discount tires if a customer came in about their tpms we would pull it back up so that it’s set properly which is what’s 95% going on with yours. If that doesn’t work we reset it and replace the stem. Trying pulling it through first.
I may be wrong but negative pressure is not back pressure. It is basically a vacuum. Back pressure such as a clogged catalytic converter is actually POSITIVE PRESSURE going anywhere it can find an opening without a sufficient opening the pressure stays on the backside of the exhaust valve and pressurizes the cylinder ( reverse flow) use a garden hose on off valve as an example. If you have hose trigger off and have a pin hole in hose the water sprays out of hole with pressure
I’m running 3rd cat delete a super 10 flow master and dumped right before the tires! my neighbors call the cops every week 🤣 love the vidz man keep it up🤘🏽
Discount Tire replaces valve stems for free, including the ones that attach to TPMS sensors. Now that you're in Texas, go check them out. Great fast pace company!
Back pressure is not necessary, what you have to worry about is exhaust velocity, having a huge exhaust pipe diameter will have no velocity but having one to small is gonna be to restrictive, you need in between the two, back pressure is only good for fuel economy
Deleting a muffler isent world changing not supper laud on the newer gen 5.3 you might lose some but all it's done is allow your engine to breath. Moved the power band up some and freed up a few hp.
STRESSED OUT your taking out a restriction your optimizing what you have stock. I just did theuffler delete and intank I was averaging 25 on highway. My normal gas milage before was 21 on highway but after I got 23-26.5
I personally removed my muffler replaced it with pipe. I also cut a little off the end for a 4.5 tip other wise its still the full length stock system seems to actually run better.
What's interesting is I have 3 cats and a Carven R side exit and mine's louder than your straight piped... BTW the backpressure myth is just a myth when you have some length on your exhaust. Will still do what it needs to do. If you run open headers for extended periods of time you can run into some valve issues over time. You're perfectly safe with hacking the muffler off.
I have 4 inch staright piping with a x pipe true duals out the rear bumper with 6inch tips on my 6.2 2017 Sounds beast just how to tune out the v4 mode so it didnt sound like a honda with a V8. Has full bolt on mods on hesders/intake tune gears supercharger intercooler ect. Over 750hp of mods has a 2 inch lowring kit on the back to sit level and 30x10.50R18 tries all slicks drag radels nitto
Back pressure is a myth. There hasn't been a need for it for decades. Computers can make slight adjustments on their own for something extremely minut like the flow with a muffler compared to no muffler.
Any newer gen Chevy's (from '07 to current) have resonators. If you were to straight pipe an older gen (anything below '07) it's so much louder than the newer gens because GMC never put resonators on their vehicles until the '07 models. Speaking from experience here, I have an '03 Tahoe and my buddy has a 2011, both of us have straight pipes and mine is worlds louder than his.
9:50 You drew an arrow toward the combustion chamber yet you state it "pulls" gas out of the combustion chamber, you just contradicted the arrow you drew to indicate the direction of the flow. Im confused.
Lol... I literally went and bought the loudest, most annoying truck I could find because my neighbor had a lame 6cyl mustang with a noisemaker exhaust. He would be out on the street at 6:30 am revving his engine a couple times a week. So now my straight piped truck has me pissing him and even more neighbors off. Petty? Yes. I am very petty 🤣😂
LONESTAR HAWAIIAN -- Is your stock exhaust size on that Chevy a 2.75"? If so, did you run an adapter from the stock 2.75" to the 3" inlet on the cherry bomb? AND if so can you share a link for that adapter?

Cutting the muffler off will let it free flow. Get after market headers will even improve it more. Now if you have upright headers. That will cause no back presser. Cutting just the muffler off won’t really do anything Sence it’s cut off so far back
I only ran it without the muffler for about 10 mins so I wouldn't be able to provide that info. Mileage has remained about the same since the truck was stock. Then again I live in Hawaii so there aren't really any real highway miles.

Nice truck man! But Don’t fall victim to the back pressure myth
F k33 you gotta have back pressure on a n/a engine
No you don't. Cats alone will create enough backpressure to do what the valves need to do correctly. Nothing wrong with running no muffler.
camaroboi13 that makes no sense what so ever, you said back pressure on an engine thing is a myth and now your saying you need back pressure, I just said you have to have back pressure on a n/a engine. Not once did I say he was straight piped, I can hear perfect I know he has cats.

Not all heroes wear capes
a lot of people use the term "backpressure" to improperly describe scavenging and flow velocity. In reality you lost flow velocity, not back pressure.

your cherry bomb exhaust is sick bro!!
That sounds badass for pretty darn cheap. I have a fairly expensive flowmaster and it sounds about the same
I've has several GM 5.3's with multiple exhaust setups, best one I've found so far is Carven R-Series
Damn that kid pulled that truck out pretty quickly
So when is it not good for your vehicle to breath better? Im still stuck on that
Say you do a muffler delete and then you get a better muffler, do you have to weld the pipe to the new muffler or can you do something else?
Sounds just like my 2012 Silverado since I undid the clamp at the back of the 3rd cat

Is your truck a 4.8 or 5.3? I have a 4.8 and I can’t get it loud like I want it like a 5.3
Other than being loaded and very slight performance gain ,. It's really fast because its. Weight. , 50 lbs lighter
LONESTAR HAWAIIAN -- Is your stock exhaust size on that Chevy a 2.75"?
If so, did you run an adapter from the stock 2.75" to the 3" inlet on the cherry bomb? AND if so can you share a link for that adapter?
I believe it's 3" stock. No adapter was needed for mine. Muffler mounted up perfectly and I used a 3" pipe to run from the muffler to the rear axel.
I have the same truck but mines a crew cab and grey. I need a after market muffler for sure. How much do you want for that muffler and piping?? I've been wanting one so bad just didn't know which one to get or have the money for a good one. Let me know ASAP please thanks.
I'm going to pop my neighbor's cherry for been too loud!
Cutting the muffler off will let it free flow. Get after market headers will even improve it more. Now if you have upright headers. That will cause no back presser. Cutting just the muffler off won’t really do anything Sence it’s cut off so far back

That truck sounds nice with no muffler
You edit your videos real nice since you started your page.
What gas mileage have you been getting with the cherry bomb setup and how quiet is it with the cherry bomb compared to when it was straight piped?
I only ran it without the muffler for about 10 mins so I wouldn't be able to provide that info. Mileage has remained about the same since the truck was stock. Then again I live in Hawaii so there aren't really any real highway miles.
Love the truck man! But I run a cold air intake and only run the headers and the cat pipe. My truck runs perfect and I still manage 15-18mpg on 33s.
Side not I’m also an automotive technician at a dealership.
Cuting the stock exhaust off and leavening the cats in place is not a straight pipe?
Bryce Hickman depends on the person defining “straight pipe”...
LONESTAR HAWAIIAN no it doesn’t, a straight pipe exhaust is an exhaust systems that has not cats no mufflers no resonators just piping
thanks Tyler Broome then you can Agree that a 5 inch turbo back exhaust on my 2015 Cummins is a true straight pipe.
Were you able to pass Hawaii safety checks with the short turn down?
You dont need back pressure
717 outdoors yes you do, the only time you dont is if you have some type of forced induction
Tyler Broome your piston forces the gasses out
717 outdoors having no back pressure is bad. Your intake and exhaust needs to be equal, or you’re going to wear out the engine.
As long as you got cats you’re fine, I’ve been running true dual straights with cats for the last 10 years on my 01 and it’s got 286k miles and still is running pretty good.
717 outdoors is right.. you don't want back pressure. you want FLOW VELOCITY which creates proper scavenging of the exhaust gases.
How do you keep your truck so shiny?? I would love to have mine like that but I can't quite get it that clean.
Detailing is stress relief for me. Stressful job = Clean truck
Oh okay cool. I have a white 08 Silverado and I just can't seem to keep her clean.
Brandon Frolik Its white lol, I have an 03 and have to clean it like twice a week to keep it clean lol. Also chrome rims require constant attention lol.

I’m thinking about running this on my truck. Looks good and sounds good. But I can’t find the pipe after the cherry bomb. I think you said you cut it lt, do you have a link? Thanks
It's just a generic 3" exhaust pipe with a bend.
Actually that's how my 06 silverado is. I have no exhaust lol. Cut right infront of the muffler
What size tire and rims are u runing + what size lift are u runing ?
What are you using besides the clamps to hold it in place? Reducer? Adapters?
Just the exhaust clamps and the hanger at the rear. Haven't had any problems with exhaust leaks or rattling.

Your truck was louder than mine was with the exact same exhaust setup and the exact same truck.
If u needed back pressure to have the most power then why do dragsters and such alike run open headers?? You don't need back pressure.
Did you have any change in mileage?
No huge change. I get about 15mpg
