Mad respect to Poppin Reef he battles everyone and everyone. Storytelling wins the battle here though. OG Scorpio clearly tells a story with his popping here while Reef was mainly hitting and waving but none of Reefs ideas really lasted for more than a couple seconds. A lot to learn from Scorpio here tho he's easily one of my favorite OG's.
Scorpio is one of the hardest hitters EVER. His hits are like violent, yet controlled convulsions. Just huge bursts of timed energy. He was toying with Reef, like a cat toys with a little mouse before he kills it and eats it. He didn't even break out his best. The best part is the very beginning when Reef starts the battle and Scorpio just stands there unfazed, calm and smiling like he wants to laugh. That's when you knew the battle was over before it even began.....
I'm an ole skool popper myself youngblood battled Scorpion and held his ground....how ever he looked liked a homeless bum in comparison! Popping is part theatre and entertainment! If you look like dookie you've lost a quarter of the battle! Many say appearance doesn't matter, ok we all have different opinions. Its cool to look like dookie as a band because sound is your product. But put on a play, a dance production or something Vegas like visual, people tune out. Because your product is visual not audible! Costumes and just class complete your whole poplocking persona. Just something from a 57 year old poppin' OG!!
You said a mouthful I'm a og popper from Sac and appearance is half the battle like dude Scorpio that's a serious popper that's the only way I come it's how we did it was precise moves today not so much Scorpio could get beat this year he is limited in moves I got something for him og Mekanizm
Reef is good that guy hits are like shock waves but Scopio man he has so much style its insane and u can see his experience as an O.G he knows how to use moves that are like damn!!!
One thing I always hated about battling is niggas that get too excited and can't back up. Especially the ones who aren't even involved in the battle, or the ones who try to dance when it's your turn cause they know they are gettin smoked lol.

Who taught Scorpio how to bop? Like who is the original bopper that came up with the mouth touch, and the sliding hands thing? Scorpio obviously has his own swag but I see Andre, Robot Prince, and Scorpio all doing those two moves and some other subtle boppin movements. I feel like Robot Prince is the OG of that stuff tho. Does anyone know?
From what I know, Robot Prince, Tangerine, and Boppin Andre created the bop (as told to me by Earthquake of the LA Bopping Crew). That means that jaw move originated from either Robot Prince or Andre, I would think.
@@mvmtsociety4026 Thats what I thought too, but I lean towards the miming stuff and the signature (subtle) movements coming from Robot Prince... I love Andre, but sometimes I feel like he distorts the truth of what really happened. He does give credit to Robot Prince but in the same breath he kind of says: "no one was even close to me and I invented pretty much all of it". Scorpio is from Detroit, and I think he learned a lot of the style from Robot Prince whenever he got to the westcoast. Tangerine is a name I keep hearing, but never seen any footage. I hope some pops up one day.

The back slide in place while ticking the arms etc. I think it was just part of the style. Even Robert bell and Boppin Ron used to do that stuff too.
Good battle. The kid looks like Richard Ramirez to me... Love my people, but all that hooting and hollering makes it hard to watch at times. OG kept it real with his, like we always do.

Yeah, young gun had guts and energy, but the point of a battle is to win by skill, not just by endurance alone. And if both battlers are not in agreement about this--that a battle is about skill, and when you sense that your opponent is not even considering that, i.e. the young dude really couldn't come back with fresh moves and styles in the third round--I totally understand that Scorpio just said to the young dude, good job, no need to dance anymore, keep growing. Or something to that effect.
