With all this flooding and power disruption going on I bought this electric burner to see how well the hot plate will hold up during an emergency. The last time the lights went out I plugged my computer and cable box into my generator and I had service for about 8 hours. This time, I started with 99% battery life and I boiled a small pot of noodles. The battery life went to 64%. So I can mostly likely cook enough food for a couple of days - without using the computer. This generator comes with solar but I don't yet know how long it takes to fill the battery. Having a pad underneath is a good idea because the burner gets warm underneath.

No the manufacturer says it's for indoor use only. And this is gross food.
