I’m from Canada, I grew up in the Yukon.
I couldn’t agree more about getting WOOL! A wind proof lining especially over the torso area helps.
And avoiding black is also a great SAFETY TIP. Dark winter nights, walking outside a lighter colour makes you much much more visible to oncoming cars.
Plus a lighter colour is more cheerful 😀

Stunning collection! Very classic and chic. My grandmother kept all her lovely coats from the 1940's, 50's and 60's. Before she passed away she gave them all to me. A lot of the coats you have look very similar to the ones she gave me. Just proves that good quality and care can help your clothing last a lifetime.

Uniquely Madison . How lovely. God even if my mum had kept her coats from the 60s and 70s, I should of kept mine from the 80s onwards. My daughter is 25 and I know she would love to wear a vintage 80s coat. You are one very lucky girl!
I have a latte coloured wool/cashmere coat I adore. Over 25 years old. In USA south, never vey cold for long. It was my Mom’s. It’s like her wrapping her arms around me. Thanks for the tips.

You look great in all of them but my fave is the Reiss Camel.
Me too but it wasn't available this year. I was looking for one as mine are all dark as I live in Canada. I can't usually get more than one coat a year when I'm lucky and unfortunately it has to be a parka. It is about keeping warm. I wanted to invest in a dressy coat for once and that one would have been perfect.

I'm an absolute coat addict. I have so many, and I wear them year after year. My oldest is a vintage1950s/60s astrakhan swing coat with bracelet length sleeves, which is my occasion coat. I've personally owned it for more than 20 years. Surprised you didn't have any tweed in there.

My coat collection covers four areas. Furs which I inherited for uber fancy; an anorak for blizzards; light jackets for cool weather and heavier coats for when there's a real chill in the air. Plus one Burberry with liner and a hat for rainy weather along with Hunter boots and an umbrella. I love black clothing.

This is my favorite fashion video you've done in a LONG time. Not to say I don't like your other fashion videos, this one is just amazing. What a fantastic way to use your extra hour. Non-fashion wise, I'd love to see a video on how you're changing your habits to stop using single use plastic. I keep getting them at shops and restaurants and I ideas are so welcome on that as well as fashion.

Your videos are always so helpful and inspiring! I would love to see a video on styling cold weather accessories. I always find it very difficult to add hats, gloves, scarves, etc into my outfits and make them still look stylish. I live in New York which obviously can get very cold (20 below Fahrenheit some days) so obviously these items can’t be omitted. I usually end up buying nicer coats on sale once they are no longer in season. The selection may not be as wide but I’ll find a few treasures. It’s pretty much the best option for me budget-wise. But you are so very correct in that quality and detail are paramount.
I purchased my first Reiss Faris seamed light blue belted wool coat!
I’m in the market this year for a new winter coat. I have purchased the top shop one you have. So Thankyou for your inspiration I do love the Kate Spade coat. I havnt found the one I’m looking for yet but it’s out there. Love your style by the way xxx

Omg I am envious. I live in the southern United States. It’s Never cold long enough for us to wear a winter coat. I think coatscoats add such a dignified classic touch to a wardrobe. Your selection complements your wardrobe so very well. If I could I would have one at Kate Spade coat and one Ted Baker because those are my favorite designers

im freaking out because i have like the biggest obsession with coats but only own one :/ i see so many beautiful ones every day (especially living in NYC!!) but finding a quality coat is pretty expensive for my budget and the others are just not right. i love how you said to prioritize warmth over fashion because i couldn't agree more!! i find so many that look really nice but won't keep me warm which is kind of the point. anyways your tips still helped a lot! ty for reminding me to be patient when it comes to finding the perfect coat. i'm obsessed with your coats they are absolutely stunning and so chic (your whole wardrobe and style is too die for!) i hope to one day have my own coat collection (that also includes multiple coats from the 40s and 50s 😍😍) that would be a dream!

I live in Texas, so our winters are milder. I feel investing in a trench is the best idea here, and I dream of a Burberry! Any suggestions on classic trenches without the Burberry price tag?
I just spent three weeks searching for the perfect winter coat and ordered one yesterday. I'll definitely keep your tips in mind to control the quality when it arrives! I really wish I could afford a Reiss coat, they're so dreamy! One day... For now I've settled for a camel double breasted coat from Ivy & Oak.
