This was very informative. It is easy to follow for someone that does not know anything about painting stucco. Thank you. I feel better about painting my outside wall.
Thanks a lot. I've remodeled my house but didn't factor in painting our stucco. I don't know anything about painting but you made it easy. I saved close to $5000. Good stuff !!
ive been working for a stucco manufacturer for twenty years. you sir are a breath of fresh air.well done video and detail of workmanship is great. nice to see the care you take to do a proper job. id hire you guys in a minute. come to Canada, lots of work.lol
Dude, that was outstanding. I am preparing to paint my rough, stucco exterior only a few years after it was "professionally" painted and looks like crap-ola. I have an airless sprayer but was leaning toward rolling it. I see how back rolling is the perfect application. Gonna pick up one of those shield holders too. Thanks for the videos!
Thanks for the informative videos. I love your system! I’m a finish carpenter but your my go to when I need info on painting tips and you process makes me an instant fan well done and Great stuff!
if you use top of the line paint with 2 spray coats it will look good and last 5-10years(that's the same warranty everybody else gives....) I'm not talking Behr or vista or even SW A100.. it'll chalk up a year. and you do want a heavy nap 1 3/4 nap(kelly more pollyester) its what I use.. Rough stucco is a porous surface that needs to be agitated.. We fill EVERY hole, gives you THE BEST finish possible but its not mandatory. The whole back rolling thing is a hustle by painters (oh well we back roll and they don't so pick us) they're probably using a cheap flat paint that needs to be backrolled
Skilled painters are able to complete the job with the sprayer. You miss some spots here or there but for the most part they got it down to where there isn't a lot of touch ups. Here in Arizona its how the painters do it as not many people are willing to pay for a job with back roll. The right way is to spray and back roll, but most are production painters that just make the house look nice for a couple of years.
It looks like you sprayed and back rolled two coats. It looks like your first coat you rolled vertically; then the second coat you rolled horizontal. Is that what you would recommend -- sorry if I missed you mentioning it already.
Hey boss what's the best paint to use for doing stucco and does it need primer for it before? Is latex a good option to use? I not sure im my impact 740 would get damaged by using oil based paint
How many coats did u guys paint?. Also I just bought my home and the stucco paint is ugly . I want to paint it to my liking. Is the process the same? Do I need to paint with a primer first?
The company I work for uses rollers to paint stuck chimneys and with elastomeric paint, that stucco just drinks it up. Is there a way to use elastomeric paint in a sprayer then back roll it, would be so much safer and time efficient then just rolling
Just received my Idaho Painter hose whip (thank you) and almost ready to buy paint. For a standard sand finish stucco, if I spray and backroll, do I still need a second coat? If so, does that also need to be backrolled, or will a spray-only coat suffice? (I'm in Southern California, if that matters.) Thank you for your terrific videos!
Hi. I am rolling concrete exterior wAlls red. The first coat looks really spotchy. How can I roll.concrete with red and make it look smooth? How to save it after the first coat? Thanks
Okay thanks I normally do that. I'm on vacation in Argentina and helping a friend. He bought the primer but it goes on clear. I'll go get some grey primer tomorrow. Thanks for the help and keep making your amazing videos, you have helped me so much with my business in Vancouver😀
Could you help me? I don't know anything about paint. I have a tool box and my brother has the same one as well. I want to paint mine to make it look different then his but I don't know what to use. It is plastic.
Yes. Even though your house may not look dirty, you may be dirt, grass and debris on your home. It needs to be a very clean surface so that the primer and paint cant stick to it and adhere correctly. It is what you would consider Standard Operating Procedure when painting a home. The prep work and cleaning is the hard part. The painting is the easy part
chris i have watched all your videos and am a HUGE fan u r a big inspiration. I just started my own Painting Company over here in seattle and hope to purchase your bid package in near future. I was wondering if you could give us (the ppl) any pointers on the business end
When are you going to show the video of your truck? (This was a good video as usual). You had said you filmed a video of your personal truck with how it's lettered....
who was the lucky guy that had to go back and clean the concrete? as soon as I saw him spraying up and down and thought, there's going to be a nice paper outline on that concrete.
my house is from the 70's.....i have deep textured stucco....like 1/2 inch deep texture any recommendations on what roller to back roll with? or certain techniques with sprayng? thanks!
What about Vegas new home stucco what is best paint? I have had horrible results painting exterior metal doors by hand. Wood jams flake off in year in snow belt areas, paint fades fast. Am I using wrong paints. I know Sherwin Williams exterior is being used on Del Webb homes Vegas.

Awesome video. I lived in California for most of my life I don't think I saw painters bankroll after spraying.

What paint do you use?
Is it necessary to spray an entire stucco home with primer before the color coat?
Do you ever have to get easements for painting walls on property lines?
If I was just going to paint with a roller, what type of roller would you recommend for outside wall stucco?
This guy is great and has great advise wow....
Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
You are welcome!
Is there a reason you don’t just use a power roller attachment on your airless sprayer?
The flat paint really lets you roughly slap it around too without worrying about flashing, holidays etc.
What tip do you use for stucco
So one video for stucco showed to spare then do adifferent angles with spray. This video shows back rolling. What is the way.
Skilled painters are able to complete the job with the sprayer. You miss some spots here or there but for the most part they got it down to where there isn't a lot of touch ups. Make sure you get that paint off the foundation where you hit it with the roller
what are your professional thoughts about using perferated powered rollers? such as the Wagner power roller. pros? cons? I planning to paint stucco.
I am not a big fan of them,. They take a long time to clean up and set up
Can you back roll with one person?
Thank you
It looks like you sprayed and back rolled two coats. It looks like your first coat you rolled vertically; then the second coat you rolled horizontal. Is that what you would recommend -- sorry if I missed you mentioning it already.

Great video. what paint do you recommend to use.
Any suggestions of paint spray brand I should buy to paint stucco in my house? Something reasonable in price. Thank you
Painting thin stucco area around windows. Cannot use a sprayer. Any suggestion?
how would you spray elastomeric paint? same way? with a sprayer?
Can I use a home sprayer with a person back rolling?
Yes
How many coats did u guys paint?. Also I just bought my home and the stucco paint is ugly . I want to paint it to my liking. Is the process the same? Do I need to paint with a primer first?
The company I work for uses rollers to paint stuck chimneys and with elastomeric paint, that stucco just drinks it up. Is there a way to use elastomeric paint in a sprayer then back roll it, would be so much safer and time efficient then just rolling
Yes, elastomeric can be sprayed. Use a 621 tip or larger (and a sprayer that can handle it).
Do you need to do any sort of priming or additional steps if you are wanting to paint the home exterior stucco a significantly lighter color?
The Idaho Painter thank you. Will the paint start to peel off eventually?
is back rolling always needed on stucco?
This was great! I know how to paint my home now. Thanks so much!
So If you only had one person would you recommend just rolling the stucco and not spray it?
Just received my Idaho Painter hose whip (thank you) and almost ready to buy paint. For a standard sand finish stucco, if I spray and backroll, do I still need a second coat? Thanks, really enjoy you videos. Keep up the great work!
So useful, thank you for this. I'd hire your company if I lived in Idaho!
Could you help me? I don't know anything about paint. I have a tool box and my brother has the same one as well. I want to paint mine to make it look different then his but I don't know what to use. It is plastic.
Okay thank you for replying.

You are welcome Brad

when painting a house,is it mandatory to power wash???

Try adding a latex extender

Absolute bullshit. All the talking but no proper job is being done. I'm a decorator and that's just not how it's done.
Looks like a child painted outside the lines on your arms, you call them tattoos, I called them people with an identity crisis 👻
lol, okay..
childish comments like that,,,,tut tut shame on you!!!! life is to short, if you have nothing nice to say don't say nothing at all!!!
Kathryn Liu take a long look in the mirror. Shaming someone based on their appearance is beyond childish, it's ignorant.
Why don't you just roll that without going thru the hassle of putting plastic all over the car and the bush!
What an absolute waste of time. Clearly not experienced professionals.
ok
