For those that can’t break apart the letters after selecting “object to path”, select path again and then “break apart” for your letters like the “d” and “o” you will then need to select both parts of each individual letter and select path again and then “combine” for each multipart letter. Hope this helps!
I have tried and tried to break apart and it’s not working. I’m so frustrated. Then just when I broke something apart like the O the middle of the O broke free which is not what I wanted. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for these great instructions! I would have had never thought this was something I could do. I appreciate how thorough and clearly you explain everything.
Crystal your video seems like it will be really helpful, but I do not have the same tool bar on inkscape that you show on the video so not sure how to change the tool bar. Any suggestions?
Do you have any other way to do these because this doesn't work on my inkscape. Nothing happens when I push the x in fill. It just stays the same as how it was. I'm going to try on a different laptop, but doesn't make any sense to me why it won't work.
@@CrystalsCrafties Just wanted to send an update because I was getting so frustrated. I finally, just now today, figured out why it wouldn't work. In the very top left hand corner it says inkscape something idk I'm not in front of my pc right now, but mine said 'outline' and I had to go to view-display and change it to default or normal can't remember. Now it works just fine. I'm not sure why it was automatically defaulting to that because I installed and uninstalled it like 20 times lol. Wanted to leave this on here in case anyone else has the same problem. Thank you for posting this video. It's super easy once I was able to get it to work.
It’s me again, smh, but in several of your videos you are able to separate the letters after you have made the word a path. I cannot do that. When I double or triple click, the only thing that happens is all the nodes show, and I definitely can’t move a letter that way. Is there a setting to prevent this?
Hi! So you probably have a newer version of Inkscape then what I was using in this tutorial. This is happening now in the updated version. It's a simple fix though. Once you've turned your word into a path, just go to "path" and then "split" and it will separate out all your letters for you.
@@CrystalsCrafties I thought about that, so I installed an older version. I will split path as you suggested. Thanks so much. Can I buy you a coffee or something? I have bothered you so much.
You may need to configure your Inkscape to look like mine so it makes more sense. Here's a tutorial on how to set it up like mine. ruclips.net/video/6xccewuE-oQ/видео.html
Mine still isn't working. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it just like your video and it still doesn't look the same. I found where the buttons are on mine that you are using but it doesn't work. When I click the x to get rid of the fill it says NO PAINT. When I click on help it says paint is undefined. Just frustrating because I want to do this so bad and the program just isn't letting me. Doesn't make any sense.
Okay after watching the video back, I think I like the swirls best! What do y’all like??

When I select object to path, it says “no objects to convert to path” do you have any advice?
It could be that it's already a path...I'm not really sure without seeing it.

Make sure that you have your text seleced when you close the fill. That's the only thing I can think of.
