Everyone talks about how much talent OSU has on offense and they have moved the ball against everyone else. So you have to consider that our young DBs are rising to the occasion. I’m watching this and thinking, OSU definitely tried to use their outside playmakers. I don’t understand how analysis say they didn’t. Michigan just slowed the game down, ran the ball. Played decent defense and got after the QB. That QB isn’t that quick and seems to make bad throws under pressure. Now, I really think Vols has a great chance purely because of our run game has been big for us late in games. People who aren’t see that, are clearly wearing OSU tinted glasses and just looking at logos - not what’s on the field.
So, the Vols got rolled. I watched knowing this, trying to pick out the difference. Well, it is obvious. Michigan D-line pressured Howard without the blitz all day; OSU run up the middle is not their game. Tennessee couldn’t pressure Howard as much, so gave up big throws.

The failure of Ohio state may be masked by their run for the championship, but this was by far the worse loss in the history of THE Game. It was also the best win. A total underdog comes into your house and bully beats you while your fans watch.
I went back and watched this 3x. I think Day is getting a lot of blame for things he shouldn't. Will Howard only connected well during the 2 min before the half. The run game was spotty at best. Day and Kelley were in a lose/lose situation due to the players performing poorly.

This game was supposed to be the equivalent of sending in the armless gladiator to fight the lions. Look at the fans from the start. They are waving their shoes because the expectation was a alley beating of Michigan. The failure of Ohio state may be masked by their run for the championship, but this was by far the worse loss in the history of THE Game. It was also the best win. A total underdog comes into your house and bully beats you while your fans watch.

I went back and watched this 3x. I think Day is getting a lot of blame for things he shouldn't. Will Howard only connected well during the 2 min before the half. The run game was spotty at best. Day and Kelley were in a lose/lose situation due to the players performing poorly.

I believe Ohio State threw the game just so they could fire up their players for the playoffs. I remember when the '92 Dream Team, Chuck Daly arranged it so they would lose to the college kids, just to light a fire under them and motivate them.
