    I don't speak Spanish. This is an English translation of the lyrics:
    Irene
    In Sárevuomi
    the earmarked reindeer took off
    Ántte Nils-Duommá Ber-Ántte Irene
    The original lyrics have two different versions of these lines but it doesn't make sense to translate those differently in English. The last line mentions two male ancestors of Irene and Irene herself. It is a so called "yoik" with Irene as the subject. The lyrics is just hinting about the yoik's meaning.

      Somehow RUclips didn't attach my answer to FELIPE LOPEZ's comment. Another thing, RUclips stopped sending me notifications each time somebody responds to my posts. I happened across the Sami culture recently as a topic for a research paper (and subsequently Sofia Jannok's music) and have been greatly intrigued by the Sami people ever since. Is this song being sung in the Sami language or Swedish? My American ears don't know the difference.

      It's a song/yoik done to modern music. The language is Sámi. :)

      Henry K thank you! I’ve been learning more and more about the Sámi culture, something about it fascinates me, especially since I had never heard of them before.

    Apparently this is the english translation:
    In Sárevuomi
    the earmarked reindeer took off
    Ántte Nils-Duommá Ber-Ántte Irene
    In Sárevuomi
    the earmarked reindeer took off
    -I can’t find out what “Ántte Nils-Duommá Ber-Ántte Irene” means, let me know if you do!

    • @EnergyCuddles
      @EnergyCuddles 4 года назад +1

      It is a name :)
      Ántte, Nils, Duommá, Ber and Irene are all names in their own right (Duommá for example is the Sami form of Thomas) and it happens quite often that names are combined, like "Nils-Duommá" :)

    • @TormodiR
      @TormodiR 4 года назад +3

      She is exclaiming to other herders that a reindeer toom off from the herd*. (forgive the derp*)
      Ántte. Nils-Duommá Ber-Ántte Irene are all names she is alerting.
