I’m glad someone said it, it’s so stupid to be telling African people that we have ‘European’ features since we have the eve gene that is capable of producing every race. I’m a West African girl with thin lips, there is nothing ambiguous about my features but I’ve heard very similar stupid remarks. Button noses are very common in my tribe, I don't even have a prominent nose bridge but somehow people still call African people that look like me ‘eurocentric’. I hate it. A feature being common in the European race doesn’t mean it’s specific to that race. I’m Hausa and my people span all the way from Nigeria to Ethiopia and Algeria. We are the largest ethnic group in Africa so excuse me if we don’t look like the ‘stereotypical’ African person. Nobody does actually because we’re too genetically diverse in Africa to have stereotypical African features or a standard of what an African person should look like.

I'm so glad I found this comment. I'm West African as well and even though my country has less than 15 tribes. We have all the hair types, skin types, body type and all. You can't put the African gene in a box, especially now that intertribal marriage is now very common.

In America, lightskin/biracial women have been the beauty standard for centuries. Most of the hate I see towards ABW comes from lightskin women and men who prefer non black and lightskin women. Social media has evened the playing field for dark-skinned women in general and has shifted what seen as beautiful. While lightskin still reigns supreme in African American communities, it's shifting; especially as more white and non bm are showing their preference for dark-skinned women. Dark-skinned women who make hateful comments are doing so because their dark-skin has been used to humiliate and degrade them.

What I have found is that in the western world, there is a monopolization of beauty for the white. Like only Eurocentric features are beautiful and proximity to wytness is beautiful. I think Angela is beautiful, and I love her videos. I think the people saying she's beautiful because she has "Eurocentric features" aren't putting her down. I believe they are not exposed to the variety of African features, and since Europeans tend to have a narrow nose bridge, narrow face, etc, they see her features as Eurocentric. They're not European features only, but Europeans are the only ones they're used to seeing with those features if they aren't exposed to different groups of Africans. I dont think it's meant to diminish Angela's beauty, but as a way to explain why their African features (usually more West African) are deemed unattractive while her features are not. I am in no way, shape or form denying Angela's beauty. She is ABSOLUTELY stinning. However, I will point out that her features are a beauty standard for many when it comes to how beauty is viewed, especially darker skinned women. This is one of the reasons I do not take featurism conversations seriously.
As soon as someone is deemed attractive they attribute it to Eurocentrism which is very problematic but anything unattractive is afrocentric.
I've literally seen gorgeous people with those broad features they demonise and say it's unattractive but I am very sure when they see them as well, they will still attribute their attractiveness to Eurocentrism.
It's a game of "who rocks the feature best" and more attractive to them than actual featurism.
She is flawless. I used to ask myself if she is not using a face filter, but still you can see how physically beautiful she is, and especially how gentle, well-mannered and natural she is. I hope that she always stays so.

In America, lightskin/biracial women have been the beauty standard for centuries. Most of the hate I see towards ABW comes from lightskin women and men who prefer non black and lightskin women. Social media has evened the playing field for dark-skinned women in general and has shifted what seen as beautiful. While lightskin still reigns supreme in African American communities, it's shifting; especially as more white and non bm are showing their preference for dark-skinned women.
Dark-skinned women who make hateful comments are doing so because their dark-skin has been used to humiliate and degrade them.

Black folks say in one breath we have various features, skin tones, and hair textures then turn around and say this black woman is seen as pretty because she has this feature and that feature. Claudia Darlene is a BEAUTIFUL Ghanaian women from West Africa and has West African features and kinky long hair. Is she European looking too? Teyonnah Paris is an unambiguous black woman from America with long afro hair with typical black features. I am glad you are speaking up. They love to go for the nose when pointing out “Eurocentric” beauty and it’s even funnier because Angellas nose isn’t even small. She’s simply beautiful. And to these people you can’t be beautiful with large features. It just doesn’t work. It’s the same way you see people call lizzo dark/brownskin when she’s really lightskin. She’s just fat and doesn’t fit what people view as a lightskin woman which is skinny or thick with long curls.

Even in West Africa, there are noticeable variation of features - some Nigerians, for example - with thick noses and lips and some with thinner noses and lips. Some with curly hair and some with crispy hair. Beauty is the result of a confluence of characteristics that render an individual as such.
I came across a RUclips page where a mixed woman was claiming that darker skin black women are jealous of lighter skin mixed woman and we want to be them. Everyone was agreeing with her in the comment section. Yet black women pages that uplift dark skin women get dragged for being so called “ anti black men “ and anti lighter skin mixed women”.

What I have found is that in the western world, there is a monopolization of beauty for the white. Like only Eurocentric features are beautiful and proximity to wytness is beautiful. Thus, if you are beautiful it can never be because you something other than wyt. It can't be because of your own ethnic features. It must be your western features or wedtern slim figure or western something else. I don't know how people sit and swallow the brainwashing. I say this all the time that many African people look like Angela. African faces aren't just big nose and big lips. African features are very diverse not just one look. We even have Africans that look Asian and are not mixed at all. People really need to stop internalizing self hating rhetorics. They want you to hate yourself and equate your ethnicity with ugliness. Beauty has more to do with how your facial features align/sit on your face. The skin color has less to do with it. Cus regardless of her skin color she will still be gorgeous cus her features sit well on her face.

I think Angela is beautiful, and I love her videos. I think the people saying she's beautiful because she has "Eurocentric features" aren't putting her down. I believe they are not exposed to the variety of African features, and since Europeans tend to have a narrow nose bridge, narrow face, etc, they see her features as Eurocentric. They're not European features only, but Europeans are the only ones they're used to seeing with those features if they aren't exposed to different groups of Africans. I dont think it's meant to diminish Angela's beauty, but as a way to explain why their African features (usually more West African) are deemed unattractive while her features are not. Living in the US, black women, especially darker ones, are often told that they and their features and dark skin are ugly. It must be confusing trying to understand why they're treated with such hate. Them believing that she has "Eurocentric features" is an explanation for why she is considered beautiful while they are not. Either it is sad that so many women are led to believe that dark skin and any kind of African features are unattractive.

I got interested in your video because i know we have that same problem in my own homeland Country of Congo. Dark skinned people literally bleach themselves because unfortunately, a light skinned person is considered more beautiful, males bleach too. I am fighting against that narrative. I have started in my own household to educate my little ones on thorough self-love.

I am in no way, shape or form denying Angela's beauty. She is ABSOLUTELY stinning. However, I will point out that her features are a beauty standard for many when it comes to how beauty is viewed, especially darker skinned women.
There are not a variety of women who are deemed as beautiful (yes, in Western terms) when it comes to a woman who has a broader nose (like KRS-One) and bigger lips (like Jay-Z) at the same time.
I suppose if the "beauty scale" were more nuanced, like if these types of women were included as well as the smaller noses, then there would be less complaints?

That’s not how jealousy amongst humans works 😂 Everyone has privileges that others do not have and yet those who are seemingly more privileged manage to be jealous of those who claim are “less privileged” and vice versa. So long as someone possesses something that the other doesn’t have and wants regardless of status , that already sets the foundation for those jealous feelings to happen
