The shampoo bottle hack isn’t new. We first did it in 2006. We did it in protest, however, because the cruise mandated that if one person is a cabin wanted the drink package, EVERYONE in that cabin had to get it and two out of three people didn’t drink alcohol at all. I understand why the rule is in place, but it’s completely unfair to non-drinkers.
I'm about to take my first cruise soon, I don't drink alcohol, but the other 3 adults I'm roomed with do, I too noticed that they require everyone in the room to get the alcohol package if one person wants it... why is that? I've never cruised before, so I don't get why this rule exists. And once we're on the ship, can we simply buy alcohol normally if we wanted to or must we have an alcohol package?
@@man_on_wheelz They’re afraid the person with the package will just funnel drinks to the other person, effectively making it a two for one. My daughter was taking a chef training course that ended the day before our cruise, so she flew to Florida and we boarded the ship. Each graduating chef was given a package of high quality knives as they left. She put them in her suitcase, of course. We didn’t think twice about it until she got called down to the naughty room. They gave them back at the end of the cruise.
I recently got back from a 10 day Caribbean cruise. I have back issues, and a heating pad is so helpful. I researched an alternative, and found a wrap type pad that Velcro together around your waist, which was heat activated by a simple cellphone type charger. The charger slipped into a little pouch, and a wire in the pouch hooked up to the charger. It was a thin battery, not much weight to it. I wrapped that pad around my waist, and slipped the battery into the pouch. It worked so well. No one said a thing about it. I did not try to hide it either. Prior to boarding, I took it off and put it in my carry on suitcase. Nothing was said. The steward had to have seen it laying on the nightstand several times too. I got it from amazon. Hopefully I’ve not gotten away with anything corrupt 😂. I sure was open and honest about what I had 🤷♀️
Im a retired nurse. There in the day restrictions for heaTing pads What we did Take 2 large towels wet them, put in microwave 4 minutes, then wrap again with 2 towels so not to burn yourself. It lasts for hours°° is there microwaves anywhere on board?????
......just for context....the biggest risk to life on ANY cruise ship is fire and so anything that can generate heat is cause for concern (even those plug in room fragrances) so while it may seem like a cash grab (paying for laundry services instead of using your portable steamer) it's not. When you think about news stories where people left a candle burning or overloaded a power socket and returned to their house in ashes imagine that on a cruise ship with over 5000 people on it in the middle of the ocean. Sorry to be a Debbie downer but just leave those items at home and enjoy your time away.
I believe in certain Caribbean Island the military or the police wear Camouflage and they do not want to get confused on who is who. I have heard this plenty of times before.
My family and I are going on our first cruise in February with NCL, thanks to your videos, it has made an overwhelming experience into a little less stressful.
lol, we took a cruise several years ago where we leisurely traveled by car down to the port, making a stop in the Smoky Mountains. We played a really cool wizard game that you had to purchase wands with memory chips in the handles, and we just packed them into our luggage for the rest of the ride down to the port. Our luggage got detained in security, at the port, before boarding, because security wasn’t sure what they were. They did allow us to keep them and take them on the ship once we explained what they were.😂 Moral of the story: Unusual, but otherwise harmless items may cause you some unwelcome complications. Consider carefully what you put in your suitcase if it seems to you that it may fall outside the norm.
Regarding taking drones on a cruise, research the respective port's of calls you are visiting for local laws governing their use. I recently saw a vlog about a couple who were imprisoned for using a drone in the country they were visiting. They were unaware that the country had a strict no fly zone where they were using the drone.
I got called down once. The tiniest Swiss Army knife had gotten left in my crochet stuff. Once I came down and they searched my case and they saw it, they told me I could keep it in my cabin. It was a really embarrassing situation, but definitely something that helped me learn my lesson about double checking every pocket of every bag.
Good to know. I carry one always in my purse and my vehicle just for safety but I will really need to make sure that I go through everything when packing so that nothing is there that I wasn't aware of. Whole different world we live in these days and I sure don't want to get called to the "Naughty" room. Thanks & God bless!!!
And because in an emergency, they could prevent timely egress, or cabin inspections. Imagine a loss of power that results in a pitch black room and you get wrapped up in some sheet.
I thought about that, but then the suite we just booked with RC has a curtain that you can draw across to separate the bed from the living room. But maybe because it’s on a rod, it would be quick to move it in an emergency.
For those who use a CPAP , simply ask the cruise line for an extension cord in your cabin. Or you can ask your room attendant on board. To your point, Illana, most of the time you will not have a receptacle where you need it!
we always take our own extension cord because we were told they have a limited supply of them. They will supply the distilled water if you request that.
Just a note to add about flowers. While you can order flowers to have in your cabin, you can not take them off the ship. My husband and I renewed our wedding vows on a cruise ship, and I was unable to take home my wedding bouquet.
I saw you use a photo of Port Zante in St. Kitts when you talked about camouflage clothing. Yes, we don't play that here. Not allowed, so listen to Llana folks she knows what she's talking about.
And another perfectly good reason not to travel to third world countries. The Caribbean islands are generally just cesspools of crime. St. Kitts has one of the top-10 homicide rates in the world. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crime_in_Saint_Kitts_and_Nevis
I have A LOT of food allergies. I bring 1/2 a carry on suitcase with food to eat throughout the cruise. Cooking oil, pure honey, pure maple syrup, meat sticks, cashew butter, rice cakes…..are all ones I have brought onboard with no problem. IF they were to ask I have copies of my medical testing to prove that I can not have what most can have. I have never been denied my food on the ship but I am careful about taking food off and onto the islands.
I packed one of the solid Renuzit air fresheners once. I waited and waited for my luggage which was never delivered. Finally we received a message to report to guest services to get my suitcase. I couldn’t figure out what had been confiscated because I knew I didn’t pack any verboten items. They took me behind the counter to the holding room to open my bag in their presence since it was locked with a TSA approved lock. To my surprise, they pulled out my Renuzit and said, Oh, that’s what that was! Evidently they thought it was a candle. So from then on, I always put it my carryon.
That product stinks up the room for the next several passengers and should have been confiscated! Someone with severe asthma, allergies, and chemical sensitivities could have their entire trip ruined because of this! That someone would be me and everyone in my family, so please leave it at home.
@@kellywilson2147The product, I would imagine would be for that individual's cabin and not a community area freshener. The surrounding cabin neighbors should be fine.
@@JC_le_Canadienthey’re talking about the passengers who use that same room, not the people in other cabins. You’d need to allow multiple days to air it out, but cruise ships don’t even wait a day before a new passenger moves in. Though it will also carry into the hall whenever someone opens the door.
Hahaaa I heard about that I couldn’t believe it lol. I thought, wait.,why not just pack ample clothing for the trip in your suitcase rather than an additional suitcase with a washing machine 🤔 🤷♀️
My husband has a multi tool that he carries in his shave kit that he has carried (and used) on every cruise that we have gone on except one. This multi tool comes with bits to fit the screwdriver part of the tool. We took a Canada-New England cruise on Carnival and they told us that we had to either return them to our vehicle or that they would be confiscated because they looked like bullets. All you had to do was look at them (which they did) to know that they weren't but because they looked like bullets on the Xray, they were going to take them. Our vehicle was parked close by so hubby returned them to our vehicle.
We were boarding a cruise that had a musician group that were to play and jam during the course of the cruise. As they checked in several tools needed for tuning and maintenance of their instruments were confiscated. This created an uproar. I do not know how it was settled. It was lovely to hear music throughout the ship at any given time.
We booked our First cruise I have been watching so many videos.it seems extremely exhausting just trying to get on. people act like these curses ships don’t have social media.like why try sneaking things on a cruise if it’s not allowed waste of time just go by the rules and have fun.
I had some soda removed from my luggage years ago. Cruises prior to that one allowed it, so I must not have read the new rules prohibiting it. I now make sure to re-read prohibited items prior to any cruise.
My brother in law got called to the naughty room because he tried to sneak Jack Daniels in a Listerine bottle. They made him open the suitcase in front of security and asked him what it was. 😂 we got a good laugh - he wasn’t kicked off, they just confiscated it…but I think he really was trying to see if he could get away with it, not so much trying to cheap out on drinks - LOL
I recently took a cruise to Mexico on Norwegian Cruise in March and I was allowed my power bar on the cruise. The reason was that the cabin power is linked to your card. If you want to keep the lights on and power plugs working while in your room, you need your key card in the power slot. If there is no card in there, there is no power and so no worries about hazards.
This past March we boarded the Emerald Princess in San Pedro for Hawaii, in the terminal before we went through security, there were Dole representatives passing out a Dole bag, orange peeler and an orange! 😊🍊
Why are we allowed to bring a large flat iron for hair straightening and not a small travel iron for clothes? Curling iron, yes. Clothing steamer, no. Hair steaming curlers, yes. Small, auto shut-off, travel steamer, no. It seems like strange hodgepodge of reasoning to me. 😂 I would understand if they were all banned due to fire hazard, but to ban some and not others is confusing. I actually took my new favorite Revlon hair dryer that has a round brush attached to the end of it in my recent cruise in the Norwegian Bliss. The first time I plugged it in and started using it we noticed it was SMOKING after less than a minute of use! I quickly turned it off and left it off for the rest of the vacation! But, after that, I sure was thankful I could still use my flat iron. And BONUS, my flat iron was also used to press my son’s shirts, my husband’s slacks and two of my dresses! 😂
Some people's sense of entitlement is absolutely insane. Why on earth would anyone think bringing a toy water rifle on a cruise ship is a good idea?! WTF.
The camouflage clothing surprised me. I would never wear that anyway, but when I was on a cruise in 2011, they told us this before we disembarked in Barbados. Nobody has ever explained this to me, so I am puzzled why anyone outside of the fashion police would care about camouflage patterns.
yes After the Covid restart the security officer was having issues because I had a CPAP machine with an extension cord which had been on 15 previous cruises with Princess but after 20 dealing with her I asked for supervisor and once he arrived issue resolved and he apologized for his team member actions.
Took a Royal Carribean cruise last month, I had contacted them prior and they gave steps to take to bring a heating pad. I showed the letter to security, they inspected the pad and let me go through.
After getting caught with a bottle of Canadian Whiskey, my father would pack two bottles, get called to the naughty room, walk to his bag, zip it open, pull out one bottle, walk it to the counter, sigh and say"you caught me" check the bottle and head to the room with his suitcase and second bottle safe. This was late 90s, early 00s so they may be looking for visual checks now, but he got his late night in room nightcap and was pretty proud he figure out the hack
Going on a cruise with my sister in less than 5 days. Thank you so much for your vids. Although I'm in Australia your vids have helped me a lot!! All the best. Can't wait to see more vids. ❤
On our most recent cruise I was called down to the naughty room. When we arrived in Miami, we bought a 6 pack of 12oz (or so) Fiji water and put it in our checked bag . Security rang our room and asked us to come down. When we got down there and opened the bag, one security guard had no idea what the bottles were, but another was laughing and a little embarrassed that they had called us down for it.
My husband always has a knife in his pocket (he's my MacGyver). NCL said under 4" blade was allowed. It was in the suitcase because we flew to the port, totally forgot about it. Had a note in our room to go to the naughty room. They measured the blade at just over 4" so it was held during the cruise. We did get it back at the end. He has a specific one that he has purchased for cruising now and we didn't have an issue this last time.
I prefer to carry a compact multi tool on cruises. My current go to is either my leatherman squirt, or gerber dime. Both are nice and small, while still having several tools which can come in handy when buying souvenirs and stuff
So, 🙄 the comment about the camouflage shorts is spot on! We nearly missed an excursion because of this 🤦🏼 We reserved an ATV excursion, we're ready to go, heading out the exit, almost out.... then? 2 security guards, stopped us, had my husband go back in and change his camouflage cargo shorts 😮 . They told us he cannot wear these, we were in Honduras? 🤔 I believe it was. He ran against the flow of traffic, everyone coming out, going down, and here he's going back up! 😕 We're all looking at the time, we had the excursion pending. He made it back quick, and we made it to the excursion. Whew! 🙄 After that stint, never again! Thanks for bringing up that point. 👍🏼🙂
I had a steamer confiscated several years ago on a cruise. I forgot I had it in my suitcase. When we disembarked, we were asked to go to a different area than our luggage. When we arrived, they gave the steamer back! LOL What a surprise!
I found a non surge protected power strip, but Princess said they'd confiscate it anyway. I left it at home. What I did buy was a 25 foot charging cord for my phone and one for my kindle and plugged it into a cube. It worked well.
Just a tip about razors! I use a traditional metal (men's) safety razor, you know, the kind- the ones your grandfather used for forever? They are very eco-friendly and affordable but maybe rethink them for a cruise! Mine was in my luggage, disassembled in a little bag and it caused us a lot of problems! They escorted my party off the ship, interviewed us repeatedly with armed guards, and even called the sheriff to the port. They thought it was ammunition or a vape component and wouldn't believe me that it was my shaving tool. (I had unscrewed it before traveling to remove the blade for the safety of those checking bags so it was in three parts with a few unopened blades in their box in the same little bag) After taking apart my whole bag and x-raying everything multiple times they were still convinced it was a bullet! Anyway, after about an hour of interviews, they finally let me back on the ship. with my razor! I tried to tell them I would just throw it out to solve the problem but since they thought it was a weapon they were deciding if I needed to be arrested I guess. \_(ツ)_/¯
A life long buddy just did an Alaska Cruise and had an amazing time. One of his Daughters brought that steamer thing. It didn't get discovered until Ketchikan and the room stew took it but left a detailed note why. "Cruise approved" per Amazon...oh no it was not. The best part of the story was they had to wait a full HOUR at cruise end but didn't know why....it was the steamer back!
I use a CPAP Machine so I just take an ordinary extension cord, never had a problem. Note that Vista Class, QE/oosterdam, the standard cord on my machine easily goes from the outlet on one side of the Stateroom to the bedside on the other
I carefully measured my scissors to be sure they were within the cruise ship limits. My husband had to go down to get my suitcase because of the “large knife” I had “concealed”. They were a very new crew with inadequate training. My husband opened my suitcase and got out my scissors. The supervisor agreed that they were easily within the agreed limits and then he scolded the new security guys. So…even following the rules can cause issues.
We were recently on Royal Caribbean’s adventure of the seas and I bought a “Cruise approved” power strip, which they immediately confiscated. It did not have a surge protector. I would encourage people to not bring anything with an extension cord at all. Also, don’t bother picking up any seashells on the islands. They take those when you get back on the ship.
Before I went on my cruise, my travel agent told me to bring a 3-ft power strip because outlets in the rooms are scarce. 3 ft cord, grounded plug, six outlets and of course the on/off switch which is standard on surge protectors. I made serious use of that thing.
My wife and I do not drink alcohol but we did bring on a bottle of sparkling grape juice for our anniversary. It was not Confiscated but they held the luggage in the “naughty room” and I had to go pick it up.
I like a few drinks but doing the math I’d have to spend every day totally drunk to get my moneys worth. And my wife might top out at 2 drinks a day - certainly not worth purchasing these packages.
MANY years ago, as we were going through security check before getting on the ship, I was pulled aside and they started going through my purse. They were very serious, and it was a little scary. I had no idea what was going on, then one of the security guards starts laughing as he pulled out my keys, which had a whistle on it. On camera that whistle looked like a small gun. We all had a good laugh, and I never carry any whistles or anything that looks like that whenever I travel and have to go through security.
My husband got his Swiss army knife confiscated at the beginning of one cruise. At the end of the cruise he picked it up. Unfortunately, it had been shrink wrapped and the only tool he had to break open the shrink wrap was the wrapped knife🤦♀️
I am amazed you got the knife on the plane. I always leave my Swiss army knife at home. The maker of Swiss army knives is planning to release a model of the Swiss army knife without a blade, just the tools.
@@rosshageman951 me too. I think he had it in checked luggage for the trip, but wore it once we’d unpacked at the pre-cruise hotel. He now leaves it at home😏
@@lindabradford9591 I had the exact same thing happen while going to a golf tournament. Fortunately the device had no sentimental value, so I told the security person they could have it. My Swiss army knife is another matter.
We always carry knives. Do we surrender them when we give our bags to the porter for pick up after the cruise or do we carry them somewhere else to turn them in for the duration of the cruise?? Basically how do we surrender them for the cruise and pick them up after the cruise? Thank you
Thanks to your videos, I’ve never taken something on a ship that is not allowed. On my last cruise I was so surprised at the number of irons and steamers when I passed by the “claim your confiscated item” table at disembarkation!
Yup. I took a cruise with my husband and kids and my parents. Myself and my Mom brought an extension cord. I read it could get confiscated, but we tried anyway. Funny thing was, hers was confiscated but mine wasn't...not sure why. Love your idea about the power cube. Thank you! I bought one right away!
If the drink packages weren't so over the top expensive, people wouldn't try so hard to sneak alcohol on! My husband and I purchased a package for a 7 day cruise at 30% off and it was still $1156! That's outrageous!
We just ended a HAL trip from Boston to Montreal. When we arrived, our room steward asked us if we needed an extension cord in our suite and he brought it to us - so I guess it's ok if the ship gives the cord to you but you cannot bring your own. When we cruise on older ships, or ships designed for European market, we have converter plugs that have never been confiscated (yet) after 15 + cruises on Regent, Royal, HAL and Celebrity.
Hi 👋 from Melbourne, Australia 🇦🇺. When I went on a P&O cruise from Australia 🇦🇺, I was told by Flight Centre not to bring a power board. Because I'm a paraplegic & require a wheelchair all the time. I asked if I could bring my power wheelchair & my manual wheelchair, just in case I had any problems with my power chair. That was fine. They said if I needed a power board in my room they would provide one. My Room Attendant was very nice & went & got me one. Where I had to put my electric wheelchair to get on the bed, the cord for my charger wouldn't reach the power point. Staff were always polite & nice. The other thing. Why is CBD Oil band. CBD doesn't cause the side effects or hallucinations, like THC does. In Australia, Medical Marijuana is now Legal. Some people take it legally for pain relief. If the CBD Oil is prescribed by a Medical Doctor, can you get permission to bring it?. Thanks.
Upon disembarking a recent Holland America cruise, there was a folding table just outside of the port terminal building. Lots of steamers and irons, with guest names attached

Lots of good information. We did put alcohol in Sobe bottles some years ago and they labelled our luggage with an ALCOHOL tape. Then brought the luggage to the room and the bottles were still there ! We were confused but happy! Just easier to buy a drink or 2 !
British cruise lines provide in cabin kettles as standard. Cultural differences mean that we like a cuppa first thing in a morning and the likes of |P+O cater for this by providing tea and coffee making facilities.
Just went on a 4 days cruise with packed alcohol. Maybe they only check if it’s super obvious. We had a variety of types of liquor containers and each adult brought on 2 different ones each and packed with our toiletries.
Do people not realize cruise security folk have access to the same chats? News flash for y’all- thieves know about all the key hiders being advertised too😮

Was told by security that they were very impressed on how much I was able to pack in a carry on and personal item keeping everything organized and briught my wide brim sun hat too
Before my first cruise, my agent sent me a list of things that she recommended I take, including a power strip. I got it on my Princess cruise with no issues, and considering I had all of two outlets in the entire room, I was grateful for it. I could charge my phone and use my flattening iron at the same time.
I’m glad that I watched your video because I will be cruising with carnival in July, and I was going to get a travel mini steamer and tea pot. Only because I saw someone video on RUclips where they actually had those items in their cabin. She was describing items that she travels with. Thanks !
The large fake shampoo and conditioner bottles have been used for at least 10 years. They even have those foam safety seals so it looks like the bottle was never opened. They're not just catching up to it. Nobody usually has a 32oz bottle of shampoo, so these sized bottles are now getting flagged in the scanner. FYI, the new scanners are AI driven, and they're much, much harder to get something by because they're looking for patterns they know are potential liquor smuggling devices. Frankly, the cruise lines themselves are driving this because drinks on a cruise ship were always a great deal, but when cruise lines decided they were Las Vegas and started charging insane prices, that's when this really started to happen.
While some outlet strips may be forbidden, you should have no problems with a powered USB hub, even if you aren't connecting it to a computer. This can give you up to 12 USB ports for charging your equipment.
I've taken a steamer on carnival in my carry on. I'm an experienced cruiser but I also fly a lot. So, I'm used to bringing my steamer. Twice so far I've done it successfully. Once in long Beach and once in Orlando.
Several years ago my travel iron was confiscated on my Disney cruise, but the funny thing is that I had brought it onboard several previous Disney cruises and never had a problem with it having been taken away before. I did get it back at the end of that cruise.
We have a foolproof way to get our alcohol onboard but sorry I can't say how I don't want it known because someone would ruin it for me. And for all of you that want to bash me for it I don't do it to be cheap only for the convenience of having it in my room so I don't have to run back and forth to the bar even when I bring my own I pay for quite a bit of drinks through the day and night and still sometimes buy the drink package as well on certain cruise lines
Yeah had an iron and power bar confiscated but got it back at the of the cruise. I have a question. Why are curling irons allowed on the ship but not hair straighteners. They both work the same, they both have electrical heating elements inside. So what’s the difference?)
Hi, I’m so glad I found your channel. Great content. I will be going on a European cruise in a fews weeks. My husband and I don’t really drink alcohol or soda, so not getting the drink package. We do drink a lot of water, especially me. How safe is the water on the cruise ship? Should I bring reusable water bottles, or do I just purchase the water package, which is kind of pricey. Thank you
Yeah we bought the ship's water one time, but it was so expensive. And we were told it's the same water that you get out of the water dispenser in the buffet. So now we just bring an empty travel mug. And that way you can fill it up with their coffee or a variety of hot teas, water and lots of times they have juices or lemonade or iced tea. And it's nice to be able to carry it back to the room to take pills at night or just have something to drink when you get back to your room. Just follow the rules for filling it up, they will be posted, sometimes they want you to use a separate cup.
Plastic drink bottles are banned on many cruise ships now but Stainless Steel bottles are still good. Fill stations are not provided but you can fill in a glass and pour from the glass to the SS container. Next cruise we will bring a 32 ox wide mouth SS insulated bottle as it will be easier to add ice.
I'm going on my first Disney cruise in December, traveling from a distant country, and I'll have two suitcases and a small carry-on. Will I be able to bring all of them on board? Is a hair dryer allowed? If my items are in my suitcase, do I need to put them in a separate bag? When can I get my belongings back if confiscated?
Re hair dryers - cruises tend to provide them. Some people bring their own but depending on the wattage of yours it may be confiscated. As a curly hair girl I've been looking into this and it seems ceramic dryers specifically are a no-go for sure. If you need a diffuser, look into universal collapsible silicone ones to add to the cruise ship dryer. I'm doing my first cruise so can't speak to the rest but this is what I've gathered from people familiar with NCL.
Nothing confiscated because we always double check what is allowed before we cruise. However, we took a fan on a Disney Cruise and had good advice to carry it on. That way we could stop at their area just past security at the port and drop it off for them to check. This avoided any luggage delays and we received the fan back in our cabin later that afternoon.
Just got back from a cruise from Tokyo to Dubai. Because we had to take more than 30 days of prescription medicine with us, Japan required a form to be completed with a detailed list of the medication, dosage, manufacturing company, country of manufacture, and other information. When we went through customs, they did not ask for the form. We never buy the drink package. My wife is taking a medicine that prohibits the consumption of Alcohol, and I do not drink that much. Also, one of the two cruise lines we use (Viking) includes beer or wine at lunch and dinner. The other (Oceania) gave us a bottle of wine and a bottle of champagne in our cabin when we arrived. I carry an electrical cube that I plug into the European outlet in the cabin. It has 4 US outlets and 2 USB A ports. It comes with adapters for European, British, Australian, and US outlets. I would not consider taking CBD products on a cruise. Singapore and some of the other countries we visited, would put you in prison or worse for bringing drugs into the country.
The CBD info is good to know. I had toe surgery & now get gout in those joints. Oral pain killers work, but mess with my digestion. I have tried several topical pain creams & the most effective contain CBD. I will need to use a different cream.

Just got back from our 1st cruise. Went to Coco cay and Nassau via Royal Caribbean. Had an absolute blast.
......just for context....the biggest risk to life on ANY cruise ship is fire and so anything that can generate heat is cause for concern (even those plug in room fragrances) so while it may seem like a cash grab (paying for laundry services instead of using your portable steamer) it's not. When you think about news stories where people left a candle burning or overloaded a power socket and returned to their house in ashes imagine that on a cruise ship with over 5000 people on it in the middle of the ocean.
Sorry to be a Debbie downer but just leave those items at home and enjoy your time away.
Camouflage really took me aback. I’ve never heard that before. Thanks for digging in deep and letting us know 😊
That one surprises so many! They take it seriously in certain countries 😬
It's because that's what a lot of drug dealers and cartels wear, I can see how it would be a problem.
I believe in certain Caribbean Island the military or the police wear Camouflage and they do not want to get confused on who is who. I have heard this plenty of times before.
Yessss....me toooooooo....my favorite shorts are camo....guess I'm not bringing them 🤣
No, the police and military wear it 🌝@@pamelapope859
My family and I are going on our first cruise in February with NCL, thanks to your videos, it has made an overwhelming experience into a little less stressful.
I’m so glad to hear!! You’re going to have a fantastic cruise
I love this channel going on a cruise number 3 in the end of August and I’ve learned so much!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤
lol, we took a cruise several years ago where we leisurely traveled by car down to the port, making a stop in the Smoky Mountains.
Greatest tip
Good tip! This happened to me once at an airport with my Bakugan collection! 🤣
Regarding taking drones on a cruise, research the respective port's of calls you are visiting for local laws governing their use. I recently saw a vlog about a couple who were imprisoned for using a drone in the country they were visiting. They were unaware that the country had a strict no fly zone where they were using the drone.
Wow! Great point
Thank you so much!
Yes! I saw that too! They were using it to record their Wedding Proposal, I believe 🤔
Maybe one should look at their alcohol consumption if they feel the need to go to those lengths to sneak hard liquor onto a ship.
most wouldn't admit that they are alcoholics
Buying an $800 dollar drink package is a far more flagrant sign of alcohol abuse.

The curtains & dividers are probably prohibited because they most likely won't comply with fire prevention regulations
And because in an emergency, they could prevent timely egress, or cabin inspections. Imagine a loss of power that results in a pitch black room and you get wrapped up in some sheet.
Exactly
I thought about that, but then the suite we just booked with RC has a curtain that you can draw across to separate the bed from the living room. But maybe because it’s on a rod, it would be quick to move it in an emergency.
It's also super tacky and ugly.
They don’t t want people hanging themselves in the cabin
For those who use a CPAP , simply ask the cruise line for an extension cord in your cabin. Or you can ask your room attendant on board. To your point, Illana, most of the time you will not have a receptacle where you need it!
Great suggestion
we always take our own extension cord because we were told they have a limited supply of them. They will supply the distilled water if you request that.
I’m never traveling with someone who uses a CPAP again because we almost had a fight in the cabin behind an extension cord and distilled water.
Just a note to add about flowers. While you can order flowers to have in your cabin, you can not take them off the ship. My husband and I renewed our wedding vows on a cruise ship, and I was unable to take home my wedding bouquet.
Oh how ridiculous
Awww, that's just sad and mean. I get some of the rules but some of this stuff is just overkill.
Probably because the flowers could possibly carry in some disease
@@nickislade5533 Flowers are carrying diseases? What disease?

I saw you use a photo of Port Zante in St. Kitts when you talked about camouflage clothing. Yes, we don't play that here. Not allowed, so listen to Llana folks she knows what she's talking about.
Thanks for this comment
Too funny, I wouldn’t have thought of that
That product stinks up the room for the next several passengers and should have been confiscated! Someone with severe asthma, allergies, and chemical sensitivities could have their entire trip ruined because of this! That someone would be me and everyone in my family, so please leave it at home.
On no! Now I have the old Renuzit jingle stuck in my head. "Open Renuzit a little or a lot. It all depends on the odor you've got." 💃 🕺 🎶 🎵
@@kellywilson2147The product, I would imagine would be for that individual's cabin and not a community area freshener. The surrounding cabin neighbors should be fine.
@@JC_le_Canadienthey’re talking about the passengers who use that same room, not the people in other cabins.
Canada is weird. I'm glad you were able to salvage the items.
6 days till my repositioning cruise, binged your packing tips while I packed for my 11 days.
So exciting!! Have an awesome cruise & please let me know how it is
We were boarding a cruise that had a musician group that were to play and jam during the course of the cruise.
You can carry on a 12 pack of soda- but can’t put it in the checked luggage
My brother in law got called to the naughty room because he tried to sneak Jack Daniels in a Listerine bottle. They made him open the suitcase in front of security and asked him what it was. 😂 we got a good laugh - he wasn’t kicked off, they just confiscated it…but I think he really was trying to see if he could get away with it, not so much trying to cheap out on drinks - LOL
Haha ya I know a few people who tried the listerine bottle too 😂
It's always the "BIL" 😆
Omg this great!🤣
Naw he def tried to cheap out on drinks too
Wow, he risked potentially getting kicked off the cruise just to see if he could get away with it? A gambler at heart
Use a business card, you’re welcome
@@breadroomghost8764 just got 2 extra cards from the front desk. you're welcome

lol that’s a good hack
I didn’t think we were allowed curling irons etc either

The camouflage clothing surprised me. I would never wear that anyway, but when I was on a cruise in 2011, they told us this before we disembarked in Barbados. Nobody has ever explained this to me, so I am puzzled why anyone outside of the fashion police would care about camouflage patterns.
It has something to do with their military 😬
camouflage is for the military
Not only military but also rebels wear camouflage . Which one do you want to be mistaken for? Many African countries ban camouflage as well.

yes After the Covid restart the security officer was having issues because I had a CPAP machine with an extension cord which had been on 15 previous cruises with Princess but after 20 dealing with her I asked for supervisor and once he arrived issue resolved and he apologized for his team member actions.

Very interesting. lol thanks for sharing
We're going on a Carnival Cruise next year. My agent told me that carrying a case of water on board is no longer allowed
I’ve been on 10 cruises and I have always brought a steamer with no problem . I just got off the Venezia in June and my steamer came with me.
At least they gave it back :)
I prefer to carry a compact multi tool on cruises. My current go to is either my leatherman squirt, or gerber dime. Both are nice and small, while still having several tools which can come in handy when buying souvenirs and stuff
So, 🙄 the comment about the camouflage shorts is spot on!
We nearly missed an excursion because of this 🤦🏼
We reserved an ATV excursion, we're ready to go, heading out the exit, almost out.... then?
2 security guards, stopped us, had my husband go back in and change his camouflage cargo shorts 😮

They told us he cannot wear these, we were in Honduras? 🤔 I believe it was. He ran against the flow of traffic, everyone coming out, going down, and here he's going back up! 😕
We're all looking at the time, we had the excursion pending.

If the room steward removes any of my belongings I hope the "atta boy" from their manager is worth the tip they're no longer receiving.

DCL prohibits anything with surge protection or additional outlets. Only usb hubs are allowed.
I have never had seashells confiscated on cruises.
My wife and I do not drink alcohol but we did bring on a bottle of sparkling grape juice for our anniversary. It was not Confiscated but they held the luggage in the “naughty room” and I had to go pick it up.
I agree, best just to buy the drink package. I found the drink package on my NCL cruise to be very generous and worth it.
Free at Sea is awesome 👏
I like a few drinks but doing the math I’d have to spend every day totally drunk to get my moneys worth. And my wife might top out at 2 drinks a day - certainly not worth purchasing these packages.
Another brilliant video, Iliana. We're going on our first cruise in January and your videos are a wealth of information.
So glad this is helpful! If you have other questions please let me know :)
I was wondering if I could bring my daughter's floaties?
My husband got his Swiss army knife confiscated at the beginning of one cruise. At the end of the cruise he picked it up. Unfortunately, it had been shrink wrapped and the only tool he had to break open the shrink wrap was the wrapped knife🤦♀️

Yep, travel iron on my first cruise. I was so embarrassed about going to the Naughty Room that i never reclaimed it 😄
I always take beef jerky (packaged) and cheese sticks. Never had a problem.
If the drink packages weren't so over the top expensive, people wouldn't try so hard to sneak alcohol on! My husband and I purchased a package for a 7 day cruise at 30% off and it was still $1156! That's outrageous!
That is crazy.
And that you have to buy 2 my wife doesn't drink alcohol really unfair, I just go by the glass now😢
If people don’t drink that much, then why do you buy the package?? Just buy your drinks individually, kind of common sense, isn’t it!?
We just ended a HAL trip from Boston to Montreal. When we arrived, our room steward asked us if we needed an extension cord in our suite and he brought it to us - so I guess it's ok if the ship gives the cord to you but you cannot bring your own. When we cruise on older ships, or ships designed for European market, we have converter plugs that have never been confiscated (yet) after 15 + cruises on Regent, Royal, HAL and Celebrity.

And for all of you that want to bash me for it I don't do it to be cheap only for the convenience of having it in my room so I don't have to run back and forth to the bar even when I bring my own I pay for quite a bit of drinks through the day and night and still sometimes buy the drink package as well on certain cruise lines
Hmmm sounds like you might have a drinking problem!
The problem I am finding for my cruise with Carnival this month for alcohol package: everyone of age in room has to get it. My roommate doesn't drink.
Great video! Thank you for the tips
Thank you
Water is absolutely safe to drink on the ship. I would bring a water bottle to fill up at water stations:)
They probably have people that periodically check for the newest hacks! 😂😂😂
Great video, as always😊 I am leaving for my cruise on May 23rd. Thanks for the great advice. I've shared your videos with my sister ❤❤❤
Outside of living in the north pole or Antarctica who the heck would need a heated blanket
Old ppl going to Alaska or Norway
Why on earth alcohol is prohibited? Maybe because you have to bye alcohol on the cruise in unreasonable prices?
