This interview should have been allotted more time coz of the caliber and personality on the sit, despite the lil’ time the interviewer didn’t allow Mama to express her thought, this are people we are supposed to be listening to & celebrating.
Mama's acute mind, fluid thought and speech blows my mind away at 93....which re-unforced the maxim-"it is only the body that grows old,the mind can stay young"....
He did a good job. He was professional about it. When interviwing an aged individual, you must take note of the individual's health physicallyand mentally. He didn't want her to raise her blood pressure as a result of the journey down the memory lane. Also think about the time limit and the need to cover those areas they chatted about. As a matter of fact, we are proud to have Mama accomplishing all that she did as a Nigerian. I hope this enlightens us all.
Wow! She is such a lovely and intelligent lady; such a delight to listen to! The interviewer really sounds patronising, can’t get over the interruptions! It does smack of rudeness. I thoroughly enjoyed when mama said ‘let me finish’ but he just wouldn’t stop!
Thank you for sharing this video, kindly dig more of such biographies of great intellectuals of the old western region. We will archive their achivement in Ododuwa meusum when we gain our independent by the grace of God
Such a brilliant and outstanding woman. One need to think deep and ask themselves, why is it only the most educated ppl from other tribes were sympathetic to the Igbos during the Biafran war.

If Awolowo was president the Yorubas would have benefited enormously. Most people don't realize that the preponderance of Yorubas as University professors stems directly from when Awolowo was minister for Education and gave numerous scholarships to overseas institutions to predominantly western Nigerians.
before Awolowo was ever a minister, yorubas had been all out about education. Awolowo only gave yorubas education ONLY from the revenue from proceed of cocoa as a region while other regions also used their own resources. During that free education , most igbos who were highly educated today, got that education freely from the free general education of the western region because there was not discrimination of a tribe so long you lived in western region then. The northerners also used the proceed of groundnuts and other crops from their region to build the universities and finance projects then. Only Zik was the premier of no ideas on how to govern his region and did nothing. So, Awolowo did not make education free for the west as a minister, but as a premier and head of the west. Stop fake narratives. My late uncle was in that government and he narrated everything to us with evidences. Even, the personal secretary of Chief Awolowo was an igbo man, and all of them were treated equally as yorubas once the live here. Ask Zik what he spent the resounces of the easterners on at that time because east has vast of resources then, but he could not even sponsor a free primary education for a few months. He tried it and failed.
You should know better as a teacher, professor! Chief Obafemi Awolowo died many years ago but remains as a Legendary Ancestor. Awolowo as a Premier, accomplished more than most presidents do. Why not focus on the present and the "Future".... Awolowo did!
The current politicians are their selling most Nigeria infrastructures to themselves and their friends. Chief Awolowo focus mainly on education and development while the current politicians focus mainly on corruption and economy derailment. Most of the current politicians benefited from the education system from Awolowo regime as a western region premier leader. Now the education in Nigeria have been derailed because most of the corrupt elites including churches are benefitting from private schools which ordinary citizens cannot afford. Nigeria who have we offended to be so hostile to one another. Politicians are buying houses in the Uk, USA and also in Dubai worth millions empty with the money meant for Nigerians while their citizens are living in poverty.
Mani should learn how to allow the guest express themselves more, she was going to telll us about her book when she was talking about her brothers friendship with Ojukwu , and he just cut her off .
The huge difference btw 3 major tribes in Nigeria is while the Elites and Educated ppl from other tribes can only come from the royal families, the Igbos being individualistic in nature could produce educated or elite solely based on individual hard work or determination.
"Can only come from the Royal families". Where are your facts? So, all Professors in small Ekiti state are from the Royal families. A state that produces at least one Professor in a family.
False narrative. Awolowo was not from Royal family...neither were the Ransom Kutis etc. However, Odumegwu Ojukwu, the one and only generally accepted leader of the Igbos was born privileged, educated privileged and lead his people through his privileged background...Rich man pikin...Pure butter.
You must understand that the interviewer is time conscious, therefore he has many questions to ask within the time limit, so he can't allow her to stay longer on one question for too long. Brilliant journalist, Manni.
Her brother fought for the Biafrans an Ijebu indigene, He was killed for his support for the Igbos. I believe Nigeria needs to be divided for better development and infrastructure. The British government are part of the reason why Chief Awolowo never become the President of Nigeria. This is why the country still backwards in so many things Awolowo was able to do within few years of western region leader. Tinubu is basically a slave to the Fulani men and he’s definitely cannot reach the level of Chief Awolowo.

This interviewer is something else. Has he studied journalism? You are not supposed to interrupt. You are collecting information.
The fellow looks like his soaked himself in alcohol before conducting the interview. Irritating interviewer, really.
You don't listen to Mama before you asked another question.

it is called Actively Listening, but he clearly does not have that - he just wants to be seen asking questions
