The reason why the Warriors don't owe him anything is because they were paying him while he was out of the team, not because his achievements with and for the team don't matter.
That’s not true. Tony Parker and the Spurs wanted Tony to get the bag/money. They knew Tony was at the end of his career and the Spurs helped enrich Parker. So many former Spurs talked about how Pop told them to leave for the money because they weren’t going to be better off with the Spurs. Tony Parker will always be respected and a Spurs legend.
About the "Boston trade one and other to draft Tatum and Brown to win a title", Warriors did 24-0 and 73-9 with four starters drafted few years before: Curry, Thompson, Barnes and Green. And the main thing responsible for the formation of this team was the randomness: Warriors tried to trade Curry for Bogut with Bucks, Bucks said "nope, we want Ellis" and Warriors wanted Bogut so much that accepted Bucks counter offer. The same about Klay Thompson: they tried to trade him for Kevin Love and the deal wasn't closed only because the veterans like Biedrins, but MAINLY Richard Jefferson, put a huge pressure on the team board officers to give up. Dreymond Green only get some few minutes to play because David Lee was injured before the season starts, and with those few minutes, he completely changed the team play... By the way, Warriors gave Klay max contract AFTER he had the first big injury in 2019, knowing he would be out at least for an year. And he just did a lot of shit on rehab, avoid Warriors doctors many time and finish it with the second injury before back doing his moves by himself, away from doctors rules about what to do on 21 pre season. The same for this actual Warriors roster... Before season start, all that trade thing with Pod, Kuminga and Lauri Markkanemj... If they trade two rookie contracts to Lauri big salary, they probably would not have space to bring Hield, Melton and Anderson. And may need to trade Green or Wiggins, maybe both, to reach Lacob main goal that was zero luxury taxes. It´s all randomness... Pod is not only another Nico Manion/Jessup guy because BOTH Klay and Green were ejected on same game and GP2 was injuried. Like Green, he used those few minutes to win more minutes, and more minutes until get his spot on rotation, and his "starter" status. The same about TJD... He was called from Santa Cruz as the team had so much injuried players, and almost no one to replace Looney. And Kerr wasn't so nice with them, putting the rookies in terrible rotations right after they reach their top performance. He also did the same with Kuminga. I can understand the bond that was formed between Kerr and the GSW core starters, MAINLY Curry, Klay, Green, Wiggins and Looney at that point... The fans putting so much pressure to they give more minutes to Pod, TJD and Kuminga... Klay playing bad, Wiggins and Green with highs and lows, more lows than highs in fact... Green lose his mind, being ejected, suspended. He really wan't to cut those guys minutes and probably put the rookies and Kuminga to play in terrible rotations (like Pod, Quinones, Saric, TJD and Kuminga or Quinones, Pod, Cory Joseph, TJD and Kuminga) only to see they have problems to have a reason to give them more minutes. It´s all randomness... So... People give so much credit to HC's, GM's and so on, but their real contribution doing their jobs, reach, at max 5% to 10%. 90% to 95% are PURE randomness. Try to transform the KG and Paul Pierce trades in 2013 for picks in something like "genius move by board officers" as they were able to draft Brown in 2016 and Tatum in 2017 is just too much foolish. They talk about this like Celtics were scouting both Tatum and Brown since 2013, when Brown had 17 and Tatum 15 and so on, like Real Madrid do with 12-13 years players they bring to train and play with them, as soccer don´t have drafts. Not mention the possibility of another team pick them on draft, as both were drafted on 3rd pick... It´s all randomness...
Klay was a sign & trade for 2 second round picks. I LOVED SEEING STEPH GO OFF & happy Klay can be the third guy on a good team. I hated watching him last season - pressing and trying too hard to be something he longer was, hopefully this can extend his career and get can get a couple years back with this reduced role. #splashforever
@@freshflyflossy They got paid a ton, they don't deserve anything more. That's the point of owning a business: you take the most risk, you get the most returns.
Good take.....accurate. Klay could not do what Iggy and Livingston had to do [when joining the Warriors] which was put your ego in the cheap seats and learn to play your new role as it is. Iggy ended up with a finals MVP and Shaun got...what...3 championships as an integral, ultra pro role player off the bench. Klay wasn't ready, willing or capable of that. As you say.....Klay made a choice. The Warriors are in a much better place now and Klay is with 2 ball hogs that may not be willing or be capable of making the changes and sacrifices [that Klay was unwilling to make] to make that team work. We will see.....
Klay was playing his best when coming off the bench during the last third of last year. perfect!! but the ws couldn't pay Klay max money over four years (!!) for that. Klay got pissy and left. It will work out better for Klay and for the Ws this way. Glad Dallas has to pay his salary now, and so far, he's been worth it. I love Klay! the Ws are far, far better this year given what they got in return--Hield, Anderson and Melton. for less money and no long term contracts. Dallas is locked into Klay's long term ccontract. Yikes!
Klay Thompson is a below average player. Has been for last 3 years. Mavs will be same team as last year but instead of making finals they will get beat in Round 1 or 2.
Who has a "lifetime achievement contract" in Hollywood? 😂 Actors get paid what they bring in the bix office. People hating on Hollywood while fawning over what Hollywood produces is what is "cringe" to me.
Jrue was traded to Portland. They're not a contender. Celtics made the best chess move n picked him up from Portland. He was their counter to Dame. Bucks screwed up
@TeW33zy Jrue Holiday. The guy said Bucks sent him to a contender n that wasnt the case. They traded him to Portland , a rebuilding team, for Dame. Boston picked him up 24 hrs later from Portland. Best pick up of the season. He's the Dame stopper, one of the best defensive guards in the league.
@chasepalumbo2929 The org doesnt but the trade was a shock to Holiday n his family. He helped them win a championship and didn't see it coming at all. This guy made it sound like Bucks did him a favor and traded him to Boston, where he won another ring. This wasn't the case.
FYI Jrue wasn't traded to the Celtics from Milwaukee he was traded to Portland and Portland trade him to the Celtics so they were trying to send hm to Siberia 😂😂😂
Curry IS the Warriors!! Just like Jordan IS the Bulls and Kobe IS the Lakers and Tim Duncan IS the Spurs and Bird IS the Celtics. Thompson is Thompson and he proved that by leaving........for less money.......after going 0-10 in his last game as a Warrior.
That's selfish thinking on Curry's part, which I doubt he would do. It would hurt the organization's ability to compete. There are other ways to thank Steph Curry, like Joe Lacob would probably sell Steph part of the Warriors after Steph retires, if Steph wanted it.
His attitude was a liability last year. It was essential to let him go.
The reason why the Warriors don't owe him anything is because they were paying him while he was out of the team, not because his achievements with and for the team don't matter.
Splash brother for life.
We will never forget you, Kyle.
The warriors owe Klay absolutely nothing.
The Warriors offered more money to Klay than the Mavericks did and he still left. Klay let his feelings make his decision for him
They paid Klay for two years max contract to not play…
Holiday got traded to Portland, not Boston!!
Tony Parker didn’t accept his role. That’s why he left

Dallas paid him less.
And he accepted less to stick it to GSW………but that is pride in his feelings, it was business not personal
But give him what he want: 4 years!
