      @@VonRammsteyn I do know a lot about WWll fighter planes. Overall the P-51 outclassed any German fighter except for the speed of the ME-262. I'm not even counting the ME-163, that was more of a rocket than an airplane. The P-51 outclassed anything the Japanese had and overall was better than anything the Brits had (Supermarine Spitfire). Sure any other aircraft may have had one attribute that was better than the Mustang but "overall" the P-51 Mustang was the best fighter of WWll.

    Great looking aircraft. I'm guessing the absence of the swastika insignia would be to avoid problems with sales in certain countries (like Germany). On the assumption that the red and white underside is historically correct, I wonder what the pilots thought about being that visible to ground fire?

    These are pretty amazing kits, ( when they get the stabilizers right😁) I reference the unboxing of the Spitfire. I heard thee guys went out of business? One of your post below says they cost upwards of $300? These 1/18 scale are good but not that good. I have just upgraded to the relatively new model scale kits of 1/32 scale and they range from 2-300 dollars and you have to build. If still in business I'd take a shot at these guys for maybe 50 -75 bucks tops.

    Every unboxing video I see with you yanking on parts and twist ties makes me cringe and just waiting for a wing or something to break. I don’t know if you realize what you have here with all the 36 planes you “came across”. Not sure if you bought them from someone or what but if you bought them you probably know they’re worth about $150 and up for each one new in the box. I’ve seen used ones sell for over $750 depending on the type of plane. If you found 36 of them you had a small fortune worth of collectibles. I wish they still made these because they’re great toys for kids and pretty detailed and great for the collector or plane enthusiast. Especially at their original prices that was around $19.99 to $39.99 depending on the size and plane. They made them in 1/32 and 1/18 scales and they’re all collectibles now.

    I had 2 of these. One I converted to an A8 using the old Skyworks conversion, but that got binned after the nose warped badly in the sun due to the resin Skyworks used. I still have the other one - but the landing gear mechanism broke around 15 years ago and it was put away, forgotten, until last year when I decided to completely repaint it in the colours of 12/JG54 Hans Dortenmann Red 1. I used Q.M.T. paint masks for the national insignias and the spinner spiral, spare Red 1 decals from the Hobby Boss 1/18 Fw 190 A8 kit and Peddinghouse Decals for the stencils.

    • @ianbeale2527
      @ianbeale2527 3 года назад +1

      @@MilitaryVehicleReviews I moved house 12 months ago, but whilst emptying the loft before I left, I came across the nose and rear fuselage plug that I cut off of the 190D-9. As the A-8 is now readily available from HobbyBoss in 1/18, and I had one on the shelf for a while unbuilt, I had the notion of grafting the D-9 nose to the HobbyBoss A-8, which no doubt would have made for a more accurate D-9 with far better and more accurate landing gear. Sadly, somehow during the move, the nose was lost. Typical. It had been in that loft for some 15+ years, only to be lost in the house move. I did toy with cutting up the other D-9 to do the same with that, but decided that as it was complete, it would be best to leave it that way and just do a repaint.

      @@Richey4RealCa Just found this explanation:
      Wübke painted his personal emblem on the port side of the fuselage under the cockpit of his aircraft; the words “Im Auftrage der Reichsbahn” ("In service of the Reich Railway") in white lettering. This was a sarcastic reference to Wübke's loathing of fighter-bomber missions, many of which he was forced to undertake in his early career as a combat pilot. In his opinion trains were better used to carry bombs, not fighter aircraft.
