Very nice Dennis.
I question the claim the tower was used up into the 70s. Before I started school in 1955 we lived across Fla. Ave at where Highland Ave dead ends at the river. My older brother and I explored the area around the tower and pump house. At that time the tower was abandoned and pump house was in disrepair. During that time my brother several times climb the tower. Never saw any activity or work at or around the area.
I climbed that tower many times in seventies, my dad lived right there on the river .
I remember the five and dime store. Used to go sw in the spring and jump off the bridge while mooning the corrupt cops driving by. A hotel was planned there and under the parking lot which was supposed to be a pool was turned into a septic tank. That's why the spring was closed.
. I remember jumping from one broken stairs to another

Wasn't it the Tower Drive-in for a few decades?
Yes. But wasnt part of the tower. Named because being in the vicinity of the tower. Went many times to watch movies in the 70s. Shakeys pizza now ABC liquors was across street on Fla. Ave. Usually we'd pickup couple pizzas to eat while watching movies. Tasted better than the snack bar food. Cheaper too.
Yeah and i was conceived in the back seat of a car there🎉😂
. Snow cones outside of the spring plus another ice cream shop on Florida Ave across from the American Legion post 111. Those cherry dipped cones were the best🎉

I spent many summers at that pool as a young teen. Such fun and the water was cold but the body adjusted. Thanks for the memories.
What do you expect? Tampa assumes noone will sue them no matter what they do.
Brian Sullivan, you could have at least asked if you could use my photos for this video, such as my interior shots of the tower and the night view. I could have sent you higher res images. Or even a thank you for finding most of what you needed from one web feature.
