Toomaj Salehi is an Iranian hip-hop artist, mostly known for his songs against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Although he has been arrested and charged with “propaganda against the regime” on several occasions in the past, his most recent and severe imprisonment comes on the heels of his outspoken criticism of the Islamic Republic’s handling of the murder of Mahsa Zhina Amini. She was a 22-year old woman whose death by way of the morality police for not wearing her hijab the right way, ignited a revolution in Iran in September of 2022.
Viewed as a catalyst in the anti-regime revolution, Toomaj has been kept in solitary confinement for more than 220 days as rumors of torture, rape, and possible execution have faced the outspoken artist.
His song “Soorakh Moosh” (Mouse Hole) gained popularity worldwide amidst protests for the people of Iran, due to its verbal and unapologetic attack on the tyr Republic regime in Iran.
We share this remake of “Soorakh Moosh” with the hopes of furthering the campaign to release this freedom fighter from his imprisonment and impeding death sentence through a global #freetoomaj campaign.
