- Removal and installation process for AGM battery replacement on 2015 Porsche Macan S.
This AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) battery was replaced to being severely discharged and not accepting a charge. Vehicle was not driven on a regular basis and a battery maintainer was not used. Its recommended that if you don't drive you AGM equipped vehicle more than a week at a time, use a maintianer to keep the battery in a healthy state.
→ Prior to disconnecting the control unit, switch off ignition and remove ignition key.
→ Ensure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming.
→ Connect a battery charger with a current rating of at least to the vehicle battery.
The AGM battery must not be opened. If the AGM battery is opened, it must be replaced
The serial number, part number, battery capacity and battery manufacturer must be written to the gateway control unit following replacement of the AGM battery.
Hi PTech, is coding mandatory for the Macan after battery replacement?
YES, otherwise the "brain" will not read the new batt charge levels/status
This can be done with any type of scanner?
Can you install a none Porsche (AutoZone) battery in a Macan and will I be able to enter the AutoZone battery info at the “hand-over” without issues?
I couldn't help but notice you didn't screw the other side at 1:18
Grimm good eye. I misplaced the other bolt but found it later. Thanks for watching
The auto start stop function of my 2017 macan works poorly. It stops only for 10-20 sec.before forces itself to start again. I notice the voltage is 12.3v-12.4v every day morning before I start the engine. Could it be the battery problem that causes the poor function of auto start stop? Thanks。
Am having the same problem so what to do? Please help me
Can i register the battery with scanner launch x431? Or only the dealer is allowed?
Is that the Posche SCAN tool??? What's the name of it bro?? Looks sweet and fast
Hey i bought a 2018 macan and when the car was transported to me it had a dead battery in it. I installed a new one but now the climate control fan and heater/ac are not working. Could it be that it needs to be reprogrammed since the battery was replaced? Thanks
+Al Bar is the display completely blank? Can’t say I’ve seen a battery swap cause this but it may need to have a handover done with a factory tester.
Porsche Tech no it just says off on the little screen and it wont go up or down. Triple checked the fuses, and even have couple different scanners and nothing is throwing out a code. Will be taking it to the dealer to find out whats going on
Is there a need for additional voltage source during battery disconnect for the home replacer?
I wonder this too.
@@swimmer0049 In answer to my question and yours the answer is no. There is no need for a battery memory thing. Only needing reset was the clock. The power tailgate does not work and has to be manually closed, as per this video (I wondered why he did that). After manually closing it was as normal after that. I had a red triangle warning on the dash that cleared after on /off. One other comment is the replacement battery will need the open vent blocking on the left side of the battery - the small plastic plug should be on the new battery. I used the old one as I had not seen the new one. I posted a video of all the scary error massages I got due to a faulty battery.
jaitchy, thank you for the follow up
where did you get the software to reprogram the battery?thanks
A Google User Factory scan tool. I believe higher end scan tools have this ability as well.
@@PorscheTech So since you reprogram anyways that's why you didn't use a memory saver tool ?
He works for Porsche u idiot
Fat Italian then why did you watch a video about foreign cars?
Hi what's the rectangular plastic box you took first?
What is the wrench you used on the terminals?
What happens if you don't input the battery info in the gateway control unit?
Kent Liu The battery management system may not be as efficient and can affect the life of the battery. It may also lead to start/stop issues. The most important entry is the battery capacity. If you change to a higher or lower AH battery, the vehicle won’t adapt accordingly.
As the battery ages the management system calculates the input and output ability of the battery. If it doesn’t know a new battery was installed, these calculations will be inaccurate
