Hello I will tell you a story my father thought me back in the 60’s an I have found it to be very true “ he said every day of your life you will have some fantastic days , you will have some fare day , you will have some days you will wish you never got out of bad “ . “BUT then the most important part of his story was “ “ people never has time to do things correctly BUT. They ALWAYS have time to do it over “. That has stuck in my head for around 65 years an found it to be true every day of my life . Thanks

I did sod and trees for a year and a half more than 20 years ago, I didn’t know it was the big leagues of trucking. Pay wasn’t that good and 75 hour work weeks. I don’t miss it, been doing LTL P&D for the last 20 years, and much happier with my banker’s hours.

Up here in Michigan we call those big rolls, mostly used for commercial wide open sites. We got machines that cut 1 square yard rolls, roll it up, shoot it up a conveyor onto a platform where a robotic arm stacks and interlocks the rolls on 100 count pallets, then we haul 22-24 pallets on our flatbeds. I started working sod over 50 years ago when it was cut with a walk behind sod cutter, and we followed behind rolling it up and placing it onto a conveyor that was chained to the trucks rubrail and two guys on the truck would manually stack it. Thank god for automation.

I'm sure Tim would prefer the $4/mile OTR trucking but I don't think that's ever coming back so he's rolling with the punches and finding ways to make money in trucking.

As a professional photographer and videographer that does a lot of different types of media production what you need to understand is this: every industry has tons of niches with different customers even within the same service, the amount of customers, what they want, and money available changes every single year! Excavating is the type of work that would drastically change, especially depending on what kind of customer you go after and how, it’s not a one trick pony. When you fail you learn how not to do it and you keep learning then circle back later.

Isn't this about the time of year Cargill Grain Division lays off their part time fall hires for harvest season?
They're so big layoffs could be in Alt fuels, in beef, pork production, or ten other divisions of the corp including export facilities.
My son manages a Bovine Steak Factory they own in the TX Panhandle. His yard has been full, but Cargill is known to stockpile a week or two of boxed beef in refrigerated railcars at the packing houses, shut down to one crew to try to break the fat cattle market.

Yeah they do this every year. Everything slows down during Christmas and New Years. All fourth quarter contracts are pretty much filled. Nothing to panic about or fear monger over.

@ I’m not saying you’re sharing fear the media is. And job losses across America is real because corporate America wants more money with fewer employees. Our government doesn’t want to say anything about it because it might affect their perks and kickbacks. I have done a lot of research on job fluctuations I’m a VP of operation for emergency management company. It affects us greatly in times of needing an influx of labor like post hurricane getting temporary workers can be very difficult. So our HR team is constantly watching. I appreciate what you’re doing and sharing I don’t want you to think I’m saying you’re doing anything wrong by sharing what’s out there.
