    Thanks. Great demo. Just bought one, and my family loved the taste, searing, and speed of cook. Will be storing my temp probes “outside” of the pellet augur door. Great overview! I've read that the build quality on Cuisinart grills/smokers is excellent (Consumer Reports), and they have a lot of innovative features - especially compared to smokers in their price range. Only catch, and not major, but problematic, is you need rear access to the grill to clean the ash tray or the grease trap. I know it's on wheels, so not a huge deal, but if you have this thing up against a wall or cooking ctr, etc, it's just a little bit of a hassle to do normal cleaning.

    • @chefsbonus7696

    Have you done any research prior to purchase? Mainly what type of control board it has in it. $500.00 an under for a pellet grill usually will not have the best control boards and the electronics are certainly not weather sealed at this price point. I will definitely get into the guts and take a look around. I purchased a pit boss XL from Walmart years ago. I bought a $50 cover and rolled it into the garage after every cook. The first issue I had was the shaft and sleeve on the intake fan rusted solid to the point it stopped spinning ( shaft and copper sleeve , no bearing on the fan) also there where not even weather proof gaskets protecting the housing for the control board. When I took it apart to see why the fan stopped working I noticed the circuit board had oxidation all over it, after I got the fan working again it started having feed errors and eventually would not even turn on. I figured the board finally shorted out. Food for thought, I would definitely open it up and try to seal it off best you can.

    • @chefsbonus7696
      @chefsbonus7696 4 года назад

      So far so good. I did not research the electronics and don't exactly feel comfortable taking it apart. The sealers and gauge definitely are amazing for the price, which is $600. Having a cover is essential for protection, especially with the proper fit. As I mentioned in the video above: protect your investment. Thanks for the heads-up, I"ll keep an eye on it.

    The reason I went with pit boss was the metal gauge was better ( thicker) than even the $1000 traegar’s , fit and finish seemed better as well. But what I didn’t know is they is where they cut corners was the important stuff. I am by no means bashing sub $500.00 pellet smokers , I’m just trying to share my experience and hopes others will be better educated. Let’s be real , anything electric and moving parts is going to break down eventually.

      FlyingMachine2017 curious what you were looking for in terms of features for your smoker? I chose the Cusinart Woodcreek because it had my Weber-like feel (without the Weber price). For example, when I close the Cusinart lid, it doesn’t burn my forearm. Like a kid in a candy store, the window keeps my interest in the cook while helping curb the temptation to lift the hood too often. At night, the internal lighting is a nice “Gucci” feature. Not needed, but very useful when you want to get it clean and the porch lights are too dim. The build quality of the deflectors is solid (just like the many accessories that come included...the ceramic coals, charcoal bin, and a serious heavy-gauge cast-iron griddle. I was about to buy the pit boss pro at Lowe’s because of the steel thickness and tested popularity/support, but the features of the Cusinart settled the score. After the first cook of just simple chicken breasts, the family is sold. Best

    Saw this at Wallys today so am doing my due diligence. IMO the Chef's Bonus Guy seems a little too gung ho about this product with his responses. Maybe a Cuisinart employee. That being said, there are some really cool features of this set up that I dig. I have owned both a traeger and a Green Mountain. The biggest concern I have about this smoker is it seems that the firebox is on the right side of the grill though neither video will support this. This is where the ceramic briquettes, griddle and charcoal tray go. The issue I have is that the smoke exits out of the back through vents. I want to buy this and seal off the back and jerry rig a chimney out of the left side lid. I want my smoke caught inside my smoker as much as possible before it exits. I'll be looking for a used one to experiment with.
