    As somebody who fights often (mma/wrestling) I always find the best way to stop takedowns is simply dropping all your dead weight and basically sliding backwards while widening your legs. In other words create a heavy wide base to drop all your weight on. Do this and suddenly for the other guy instead of tackling just you it'll feel like he's tackling 7 of you.

Remember guys in court it's all about proper articulation of your self-defence actions that will get you off the hook.

    I have seen 3 of your videos; fundamental striking, groundfighting and defense against comman attacks. Very good videos! I saw your defense against the tackle on the videos. I think from my experience that the sprawl is much better because your enemy will have forward pressure and fast speed so you have to move your feet backwards and do a sprawl. it is the only defense that I think will work if your enemy really try to take you down with a low tackle. Sprawl is also about to have good footwork. I saw in your video that your partner managed to grab your leg almost every time. If you had try the sprawl instead I think he would not managed to grab your leg. You can be up on your feet very quick after a sprawl.That is better then letting your enemy grab your leg. Just my advice to you. Take care and keep up the good work you are doing!

  • @truthfreak6
    @truthfreak6 10 лет назад +1

    I don't know, the attacker had bad form and it assumes that he'll just hang his head there long enough to grab it. A good shot is going to come up with the leg as fast as you can so that head is going to be moving fast. I don't know of any single leg tackles anyway, single leg attacks are usually to raise the leg and dump the opponent over.

    Up-down elbows are effective against a takedown. Lower your center of gravity and as he tries to grab your legs go for the up-down elbows. They are so dangerous that they are not allowed in MMA

    Just my two cents as a former wrestling coach. Step back the leg on the head side each time. The head is the driving force on a double leg and on a single leg not doing so puts the leg in front of his face for an easy grab. Its harder to grab a leg opposite your head.

    Good advice. Many wrestling counter moves are also effective: sprawls, cross-face, pry bar, crotch lock to a sprawl reversal or tilt, front headlock to rib cradle/reversal/cement mixer/shrug, three quarter nelson, over and under hooks to a throw, ect. Also, a knee to an incoming opponent is effective. Keeping your head lever lower than his and side stepping your adversary is also advantageous. Do agree with the aforementioned attacks to the head and neck regions, though. Front headlock choke outs suffice, too. Best option, run away from conflict and avoid litigious proceedings, along with monetary demise.

    Guys when you fight don't do this if you wanna never get body slammed in a fight get your head low when they run at you so you will still have a chance to wrestle them atleast and try to push down there head as far as you can before you do this because they can still body slam you if they have the position also just punch and move out the way don't get close enough for them to get a chance to body slam you if they run at you like a retard upper cut them or hit them in there stomach and they will drop down right there and make sure you lean back if they try to punch you.

    Yes at Krav Maga I also learned the sprawl against the 'both legs tackle', I think it comes from MMA. I found it pretty effective and pretty easy to do and you can bring him to the ground that way, you can decide to get him in a guillotine choke then as well.
    I haven't seen these techniques yet and it's probably way better if there any other threats around.
    I love the scenario training Nick Grossos I'd love to see that again!

  • @JeremyMcMillan
    @JeremyMcMillan 9 лет назад +9

    Breaking this down, the defender's forearm block orients his leading forearm in one direction, hand up. If that fails, the next response is turning the attacker's head, which requires the defender to use the same leading forearm in hand-down orientation.
    It would be worth exploring how to make this transition.

  • @chestermicek

    A swing kick to the face works well. Also, jump to the side and make the bull rusher pay with a judo chop to the neck. Never let anyone as close to you as is show in this video. If you are a super good athlete, jump to the side like a bullfighter and front kick the SOB in the knee as he goes by. I like that technique because it keeps the jerk away from you, and you might get lucky and blow his knee out. If you hurt his knee and he stays bent over, give the back of his neck a few taps. Hey, this is an attack and you want to hurt him before he hurts you.

  • @heihoshi
    @heihoshi 8 лет назад

    I have found in practice that This will not work, in part because the inertia from the attacker will likely offset your own balance making it difficult if not near impossible to use both hands to turn his head.
    Secondly, in this instance you are assuming the assailant leaves a gap between your hips and his head, that is also unlikely as even untrained individuals will know to keep the head away from danger and tucked in close to the opponent.

    • @kingslavd661

      Theoretically it could work but requires a precise timing to hit him before he gets to you. Once he's pushing you backwards you are off balance so it would be impossible to do. Best thing is, try it with your friends and see if that works for you vs. this.

      @whitebeltcentral125 4 года назад +2

      This video is NOT good... But your skepticism is. Hang on to that.
      This is a terrible way to defend a takedown.
      What I think you MAY be referring to with the uppercut thing - a common technique in MMA is to lunge and tap the knee to threaten the takedown, then swing a big overhand to tag them on the chin when they instinctively sprawl. That ACTUALLY does happen. An uppercut wouldn't be as feasible because it doesn't mesh well with faking the takedown... It's.. hard to explain. Look up "fake the takedown and punch KO"

    This is not how you defend the takedown at all You throw your hips back going for a neck crank makes the takedown way easier. In a real fight this does not work. I have over 10 years of grappling. VS someone who doesn't know what they are doing taking an hour to learn a good sprawl will make it impossible for anyone who is not a wrestler to take you down then after you do it and they are on their knees you just run away. Even if the neck crank does work which it won't most of the time you don't want to kill someone.
    I see he is trying to do a wrestling crossface defense but that doesn't work at all without the sprawl he is doing a sprawl crossface by moving into the takedown its dumb.

    If he grabs both legs, grab his belt from over the top of the back and lift up while driving your elbow into his back. This lowers his back and gives him no leverage. While grabbing the belt, sprawl your legs back. This is assuming he already got in a grip on your legs and is pulling them in. I did this about two weeks ago and it worked just fine. He couldn't pull my legs out from under me and I stayed over the top of him. Once you let go, you loose all leverage and he will drive into you and drop you onto your back. He had friends nearby so whailing on him would not have been a good choice for me. I kept my back to a wall, held on to his belt and looked around and kept situationally aware. It worked just fine. Any grab to his head or arms and you have no grip and he'll drive you over. I had no marks on me. You can't even get a leg back as he's hanging on to them and pulling your knees in.

    as a wrestler the guy trying to describe a single and double leg was horrible while a wrestling take down you are trying to drive towards and up (then the finish you are trying to do typically turning the corner) of them he describes it as towards and down which isn’t even an effective takedown making sprawling easier. Basically instead of doing a wack crossface literally just sprawl and then pummel them

    this probably would not work in real life. I've been doing martial arts for a number of years and I've been in one real street fight. The football tackle was how I won that fight. A guy I knew back in high school found out that his ex-girlfriend who he had been abusive towards anything for me so he vandalized my car. I heard through the Grapevine who it was and called him up one night to confront him. He tells me to drive to his house right then to fight him so I obliged. it's like 2 in the morning when I get there and pitch black out. I walk up to his front lawn and I hear the door open. he comes out swinging and lands a few blows. I'll and a pretty good strike right to his face and then immediately follow up with a football tackle and mounted him. He was completely done after that, I hammer fisted him about 10 times before I felt like I had gotten the message across. Football tackle is a great move and extremely hard to defend against in an actual street fight. the best approach to a street fight is to try to trap somebody up against a wall so that they have no ability to get any force behind their strikes since Force comes from drying your limbs back and then throwing them forward. The best way to do that is to make the ground the wall that you trap them up against.

    This is why wrestling is the most dominant base in a 1v1 fight, you can easily take them down and ground and pound. Jiujitsu can do the same but their takedowns and defense is inferior, a lot of guys pull guard in competition because of this. Though some schools offer a hybrid bjj base with heavy wrestling and least amount of judo, this will be standard 'bjj' someday.

    Sprawl and punch the chin. Gouge eyes and jam into the neck. If lifted and about to be smashed, grab the guy and tuck in. You will decrease the damage. Know that this person is hands on you, so you have free shots to vitals.

    Hey bro im going to keep it real. If your saying this works against an unskilled attacker with know clue ok. But even with a 16 year old kid who has a high school wrestling back round it will not work. A wrestler has a strong neck and there take downs are extremely explosive. Im telling all of you put a helment on and practice this with restiance 4 rounds 2 minutes. and you will see that it will not be as successful as if you would train MMA and leaen how to sprawl then I would be sold. You have to train with someone not allowing you to do it then you will truly see the truth instead of theorized tactics.

      yeah man i agree with you Anthony. I trained in boxing and have been able to get away with a quickly timed side step and perfectly timed shot to peoples ear or back of the ear as they miss. I am not sure it requires fast foot work but i normally am sliding back as i am being rushed so they have to explode but they already have exploded so it loses the explosion side step and pivot. The problem with all of these things is you either know how to fight or you don't If you don't the chances of you being taken down is almost every time. Also you can't be afraid to execute what you do know which normally comes in the form of you have sparred and are not afraid of being hit. Another technique i have used is sliding back holding a arm out like a stiff arm and as soon as my hand touches the any part of him i sprawl. I only did it that way is to make sure i don't sprawl to early or telegraph a sprawl that makes him do something else.

    Yeah this looks good at slow speed but unfortunately if a grappler has even 1 of his legs the grappler won’t let go no matter what he hits the grappler with and the grappler will take him down and climb all over him (unless he can grapple too) like glue until he is in a submission

      +BX JRS Essentiallty, you are angling your chest and shoulders down onto the tacklers head and dropping. This puts their face into the ground, with very little resistance. Hope this helped.

    If u could just let him bring u to the ground when u hit the ground throw him over u then get reverse on top of him and now he have the Avantage of hitting him
    It's the reverse tackle they tackle u
    U throw them over u and then u get on top of them and punch them
