Mysterious Research appears on Deceased's third studio album Fearless Undead Machines released in 1997.
Formed in 1984, Deceased is a thrash death metal band from Arlington, Virginia. During the formative years of the American underground death metal scene, Deceased has attained a cult following throughout their lengthy career. In 1990, Deceased was the first band to sign with Relapse Records, releasing four albums and a number of EPs before parting ways with the label in 2003.
The Deceased sound centers around themes of horror, with lyrics barked and sometimes narrated by vocalist and founder King Fowley. As their charismatic leader, King Fowley can work an audience into a head-banging frenzy. There is an edge of thrash on this death metal machine and the vocals are intelligible, but certainly not pretty.
2017 marks the 20th anniversary of one of the most iconic death metal albums, "Fearless Undead Machines". Well before zombies were overplayed and cliche, this powerhouse CD pays homage to cult horror classics with thoughtfully composed lyrics, pummeling percussion and blistering guitars.
