It is. I just bought one and am very impressed. Somebody wrote in a review once that it has a soul, which I think is a great description. With the analog signal path after the samples, it really is something else. Incomparable to any other drum machine.
Dragan Delic I had the chance to play with mine for a couple of hours now and although not everything feels super intuitive, it sounds killer and is a LOT of fun to have such a powerful mangle arsenal at hand. And it seems super flexible as well. I will continue to invest myself in it, load my own samples on it and make it my buddy. 🤓 But I think it is already pretty sure for me to say that I will probably keep this instrument and grow friends with it. The sound, the feel, the flexibility - I just love it. I hope you will enjoy yours as well!
Thanks for this clear demo. The hanging voice may be due to MIDI jitter from the external sequencer or the MIDI signal flow inside the AB. Does it ever happen when you press the Stop button on the AB itself?
Hey, I have this machine since a few months but there's something I have trouble with. Some samples are fully played only if you hold the trigger but when you record it in real time, after, in the sequencer it only plays like 1 second not the entire sound. It has nothing to do with the parameters like start or end I tried everything but I can't record the full sound on the sequencer just 1 sec of it...
Thanks for showing that this wonderful-sounding machine, which I WANT, has a rather bad user interface. This is no DrumBrute. - "Bank 1 pattern 1 is (memory location) 0." That has got to be fixed! - "Shift-Last Step": I see nothing indicating "Last Step"... Do we have to memorize many of these shortcuts? - When you try to change pattern at 7:11, the device is apparently stuck in Shift mode, and nothing indicates that... I assume Shift works as a "press-and-hold" button, so either there's a bug or the button got stuck. Which was it? I suppose it could be used as a sound device only, triggered via MIDI by the DrumBrute? That would mean more desk space, though, and extra cables, power supply...
The UI is not perfect but I assure you the sound is 10x that of the DrumBrute. Conservatively. Since making this video I have learned that shift is a one time click, so to get out of shift, hit it again. As far as "this has got to be fixed" don't hold your breath. It is highly unlikely anything will change. If you don't like it as it is, I wouldn't buy it. Yes, you do have to memorize the shortcuts, there aren't very many. This company is literally run by one man, every single element of it. If you don't like the sound, don't buy it. That's all this thing is about for the most part.
Thanks for the reply! I love the sound and the features. As to one-man operations, I've given up on every piece of complex PC software made by a single person. I guess it could be different with hardware. Still, these genius-engineer-maverick types could do a few usability tests with outsiders before releasing their products. The memory location problem could easily be fixed with a firmware update, provided the man listens to user feedback. Now as to the price... I've never considered paying that much for a drum machine! It puts it in the same league as the DSI Tempest, which I always declared much too expensive for me. At least that one is mass-produced and available (another one-man operation disadvantage). Still, I'm salivating...
@@cdwhiley part of the pattern on a individual channel. so if I want the whole sequence to be 64 do I have to do each kick, mbrane etc pattens separately?
@@Matt4star gosh. i do not know. i assumed it was the entire pattern regardless of instrument chosen. i will have to look at this on my machine and let you know.

I'm osrry all my jomox "tutorials" are so terrible. I barely knew how to use it, was my first drum machine, and im not good at speaking. Plus my mic level was super low. Anyhow, sorry its such a useless video.
Thanks for the tutorial… but it’s obvious that you’re not familiar with machine when you have done the video. Also the SD card issues are really not interesting in the topic of this tutorial.
This machine is extremely underrated. Such a sick sound!

Thank you! I really appreciate the time you have taken to teach tech challenged music makers.
Thanks for the tutorials! Should get my Alpha Base this weekend and can't wait to play with it now! ✨👦🏻🌟

Has that bug been fixed since by Jomox, via updates??
Yes. Many firmware updates and bug fixes have been released.
last step is what I was looking for! can you do it globally as well?
what do you mean globally? last step parameter would definitely be per pattern. so it's like a part of the pattern.

German product ❤
Are the patterns tied to the sounds or independent of the sounds? If you choose store kit does that save only the sounds but not the pattern?
Independent.
Did the issue with notes hanging ever get fixed?
no issues.
Did you get a better sd card? I have the same problem.
Yes I got a 32GB Sandisk to work with no problem at all. I believe it will work with pretty much any FAT32 formatted Sandisk card.

No I'm not redoing it lol. Put on headphones and turn it up lol. It's low but it's there if you crank it. :)
