CNN accurately reported: "In this study, about 12,000 people in Sweden, Poland and Norway got colonoscopies. They saw a 31% reduction in their risk of colon cancer and a 50% reduction in their risk of dying from colon cancer compared with people who were not invited to get a colonoscopy."
this makes perfect sense, doctors and pharma make money by colonoscopies and unnescessary cancer treatments. and, the lying mainstream media is funded by the pharma and medical industry to great extent. doctors want to make money and to do that you must be made ill first or convinced somehow that your life depended on an expensive medical procedure that the doctors provide and lifelong medication that is provided by pharma.
Your opening lines that colonoscopy make no difference in cancer rate is inaccurate and later you did colonoscopy screening reduce colon cancer rate by 50 percent. Very sloppy script writing that could cost lives. For an more accurate reporting of this study from CNN: "In this study, about 12,000 people in Sweden, Poland and Norway got colonoscopies. They saw a 31% reduction in their risk of colon cancer and a 50% reduction in their risk of dying from colon cancer compared with people who were not invited to get a colonoscopy."
I think the study conflated the people who were randomized and recommended to get a colonoscopy with those who actually followed through and got it. Among those who actually got it, cancer risk and risk of death were significantly reduced. Horrible headline that is going to get people killed.
The video's title is misleading because it makes things seem as if colonoscopies do not have any benefit, yet the video itself explains why colonoscopies are nonetheless important. Hope people watch the video to get the full story
Let me break this down... for people who get the recommended screening, there was a significant drop in death rates from colon cancer because it was detected early... for people who didn't follow up or neglected to get screened, the death rate matched the national average in the developed world. This means, if you get screened, you have a 50% better chance of surviving colon cancer than if you didnt; all because the cancer was discovered at a much earlier stage.
50% of a 2% absolute risk means your risk drops from 2% to 1%. For many people, that simply isn't worth the risk of anesthesia prep and the procedure itself. Not to mention that you have no idea what you're walking into. If you are having it done in a surgery center, many states do not require surgery centers to report deaths that occur as complications. Doctor I worked with was forty-three years old went in for a simple, elective procedure procedure and died. It was not reported, they buried it. I am now of the mind that unless it is to absolutely save my life, I don't do elective ANYTHING. ESPECIALLY SOMETHING AS INVASIVE AS COLONOSCOPY.
Can mainstream news please stop it with the clickbait titles? What you're doing only further confuses people and lower the level of trust they have in you (and in scientific research, in this case). And you really need people's trust these days, because many have a hard time telling apart between what's real and what's fake anymore.
If you clicked on this video PLEASE get your screening colonoscopy! They say at the end that…in those who got the screening study death was reduced by 50%

Have a family history of colon cancer and was told to get a colonoscopy before I was 45 and insurance would cover it because of the family history. Nope, I have an $8900 bill and was told that because they found a polyp insurance won't cover any future screenings because it is now a preexisting condition. Thought that was illegal.....?
$8900 seems an extreme price for a relatively simple procedure, insured or not. I believe it. My colonoscopy cost nearly $12,000. Fortunately for me, Medicare and the Affordable Care Act paid it. Outrageous.
I got my first colonoscopy at age 43 and my doctor told me that I was lucky to have gotten it done instead of waiting till 50 because I would have been dead before age 46.
I'm still not interested in getting a colonoscopy, mainly because I'm diabetic and I'm not able to fast without my blood sugar crashing. And I really don't want to drink that stuff and have to deal with the 💩
You can eat some sweets to keep your sugar up. Talk to a gastroenterologist about how to accommodate you. Otherwise, enjoy risking dying in agony of metastatic colon cancer which could have easily been detected early.
Read the New England Journal article. Colonoscopies are not as reliable as the medical community wants you to believe. "Screening colonoscopy reduces a person's chances of colorectal cancer by only 18% to 31%, and their risk of death from ZERO to 50%." But, you should be screened. Your doctor needs that summer home.
Is this the stupidest report ever, or is it just me. Colonoscopy is only effective if you get it? Colonoscopy saved my life 25 years ago. Terrible headline!!!!

The great thing about the digestive system is that it rejuvenates itself without effort, all it takes is a change of diet.... Just eat boiled potatoes complete with the skin with every meal, and stay away from cooking oil..

Europe has better outcomes and pays out less money. I know at least one person that got an infection from that scope. Maybe people would be better off putting teir minds to losing weight and exercising.
From Europe: this video is illogical and confusing, and the click bait title misleading! Am 73 years old, and at my first colonoscopy growth was found that was still benign, but could have turned into cancer any time soon! It was removed during the procedure, and now, under universal healthcare, I get examinations every two years for free (not ten years!). And every time they found new potentially dangerous, still benign tumors ... The procedure, under sedation, is nothing to worry about (you just go to sleep for ten + minutes and don't notice it😃) - the preparation one + days before is admittedly a bit unpleasant (fasting and drinking a lot of far too sweet cleansing stuff for your digestive tract), but, hey - if it saves my life?😃😃😃
