      Condesa is great too! Polanco is a bit posher, and colonia Juárez has a more artistic vibe

      Hola chicos! Visit “Mercado Roma”, located in Queretaro street. Very cool place with lots of eating businesses. Check the Balmori rooftop in 139 Zacatecas st. Walk along Álvaro Obregón street. Lots of restaurants and cafes. Walk along Colima street too. Beautiful. Next to Roma is Condesa neighborhood. Tons of cafés. Go to Parque México. Lovely. And please walk Amsterdam avenue! Along the central median strip (the street is an oval and Parque México is in the middle of it). Another close lovely neighborhood is Juarez. Visit there the “Comedor Lucerna”. Very pretty place to eat with many options and with friendly people. In 51 Lucerna st. Walk around the neighborhood. Lovely. CDXM is very gay friendly. You can walk hand in hand and show your affection with no concern. I always do. Hehe. I love you guys and Im very happy you’re visiting my city. Feel free to ask for directions or I’ll gladly tour you to interesting places in the city. Hope you have a blast here. Abrazos y besos! ☺️

    Years later, I am finally following in your footsteps and heading to Roma/Condesa!
    My sweet Doug and I used to watch but since he passed, I decided to go on my own between this Christmas and NYE.

  • @mariobruyere9169
    @mariobruyere9169 3 года назад +4

    Roma Norte is great, but I prefer La Condesa. Colonia Juarez and Colonia Cuauhtémoc (on opposing side of Reforma by the Angel) are also great. Polanco is posher. I also like Granada (north of Polanco, on the north side of Ejército Nacional), fairly quiet and residential on its better streets. Santa Maria la Ribera is also nice, less popular and less known among tourists and expats, also affordable. One thing about CDMX... most neighborhoods have a theme for their streets: Juarez is European cities, Cuauhtémoc is rivers, Polanco is writers and philosophers, Granada is lakes. It makes it very helpful to determine in which colonia you find yourself.

    • @TravelWTravis
      @TravelWTravis  3 года назад

      Amazing! We didn't know that about the street names - so cool!

    • @mariobruyere9169
      @mariobruyere9169 3 года назад

      @@TravelWTravis So! If you are in Cuauhtémoc, the street names will be Rio Lerma, Rio Niles, Rio Rhino, Rio Danubio, etc. And the north-south, directions east-west directions based on the flow of the rivers (in CDMX there is logic in urban planning). In colonia Juarez, the street names will be Hamburgo, Bruselas, Amberes (Antwerp). So if you ever wonder what side of Reforma Avenue you are on, the street names will indicate it by their theme.

    • @mariobruyere9169
      @mariobruyere9169 3 года назад

      Same concept as in Roma: east-west streets are named after Mexican states. North-south after Mexican cities. These are all little things that make CDMX a marvel in urban planning.

    • @mariobruyere9169
      @mariobruyere9169 3 года назад +1

      BTW. I was never taught those things. Simply the power of observation and good knowledge of geography.
