She said it’s everyone’s birthday then named all her immediate family by groups, starting with Evan having the last Birthday with her favourite strawberry cake, then her and Coco, the triplets, the big kids and mom and dad, wow she is an intelligent little two year old ! ❤
My experience with IKEA untreated pine wood is that it darkens naturally in sunlight. The original book shelves were probably not stained but just sun darkened over a period of a year.
I like the way Ro set up the shelves so that the darker one is in the middle. I agree with the others commenting that the color will change over time. I love the organization of the bins for school work. It’s pretty close to how I have my classroom set up (I’m a public school teacher in California). :)
I have that Ivar exact shelf, and from the video I think this is exactly what happened. Since the new one is exposed to natural light, I think it will get darker and match the old one (or at least become pretty similar)
I like the way you matched the shelves by putting the darker one in the center. It really does look good. Your creativity of putting their schoolbooks inside those magazine holders was brilliant! Everything looks so accessible and neat. The pencil holder was another creative and smart idea that will be more enjoyed by all. You’ve done so well!
Love your video, nice to see those smiling kids faces! Sylvie wanting someone to be celebrating a Birthday was cute as well as so sad for her to find out there was no BIRTHDAY EVERY DAY! Broke her little heart !!! ❤️🩹
I chuckled with the twins being very toddler like without their naps today. You are the most patient and caring Mum I have ever seen and I loved when you sounded a little exasperated (just a tiny bit) when you asked the twins, "what are you doing?". Every Mum knows that feeling especially on a day when little ones don't sleep.
I love the contrasting darker shelf in the center. Especially with the wooden pencil bins in the lighter color! It all blends well and looks beautiful together
I’ve missed so much since birdy was born. Cosmo and Sylvie have gotten so big🥰 she looks just like Pearl!! So sweet listening to her talk to you at the beginning 🥺 she said “it’s cosmo and Sylvia’s birthday” so stinking cute
I actually like the darker shelf in between the two lighter shelves...looks like you planned it that way.😃 Love the wooden organizers for schoolbooks, pencils & paper. Love your vlogs! I've been following your sweet family since way before Cosmo & Sylvie were born. 🥰💖
Chloe, you and Ro do a great job of managing “all the things”! One of the best things about owning your home is having the ability to prioritize your schedule for the small fixes that need doing. Here in the US, we call skirting boards “base boards”. You can do your more public rooms first, then do the private rooms. The most important things right now are raising good people and educating them to your own standards, not someone else’s. Great job by both of you!
Well Sylvie was right about it being someone’s birthday on Saturday, it was my daughter’s! Just a thought about the shelves, if they’re made from pine, that usually darkens over time from being exposed to daylight, so your new ones will probably get darker too.
I think the two wood colors look fine together, and if you fill the shelves with wooden crates/organizers/toys etc. in other natural wood shades it will look really lovely! As if you meant it to be this way all along.
Oh wow! In Germany no-one ever would inspect your rented flat or house! We have a big right on personal right... :D You just need to make sure, that if you move out, everything is nice, tidy and the way it was before. :D
In America the landlord must give 24 hour notice to say she's coming to the house or apartment... but even then it is not to inspect your housekeeping. You can be the biggest slob ever and the landlord can't' say a word--as long as it's not producing mold, or a hoarding situation, or flooding the kitchen, etc.
It’s to make sure tenants aren’t trashing a house that isn’t theirs. Or running drug labs. It happens a lot. This way the owners know that their property is being looked after. It’s a good system.
I think the shelves look good like that. It’s hard to notice when the different one is in the middle. I think it makes it more interesting and just looks like part of a design.
The shelves look so cute with all the organizing! I love it so much! I think the different colored one looks nice in the middle with the lighter ones on the end. :)
I noticed too that your house doesn't have skirting boards! I thought it was the norm im Australia lol. There actually is a purpose to them besides looking nice: They seal the gap between flooring and wall and they prevent marks from brooms, vaccum cleaners, floor cleaning solutions, or shoe soles on the wall. In Germany, they are called "Fußleisten" (foot boards), architects call them "Scheuerleisten" (scrubbing boards).
Hi, they are called base boards in Ohio (US) at the bottom of the wall. I LOVE the way you organized the shelves. They look really nice. Sending LOVE and HUGS your way. BYE!!!!
Oh wow that’s a lot for inspection. I think in the US it depends on the landlord. My daughters is once a year. I love what you and Roe do with the house. The shelves look good that way. Having a colored one in the middle. I love the way Silvio talks. I like what you did with the books. You could turn them around when you aren’t in school. Just a thought. Thank you for the video.
In Canada we call skirting boards base boards, we have real wood we can paint or they now have other types of material for that job, if you like white we even have plastic ones that don’t need painting. For the IKEA shelves maybe take a shelf from the stained one and take a shelf from the new one to a hardware shop who can match it up for a stain, they can be matched pretty good. Congratulations on having your own place now to make special for your family. You have some obedient children who behave beautifully.
NO need to stain the shelves. It's their normal way to change colour if standing in the light. If you stain one or both they will be forever different. These shelves are great, because they can be easiy moved, changed in shelve heights and made smaller or larger in width. Have fun with them.
In Canada it is called Baseboards. My apt. inpection was last week (only once per year) You spend hours getting every thing perfect, they walk in and say " looks good " 30 seconds max and they are gone.
I bought a Kallax off of marketplace and decided I wanted some extra drawer inserts. Went to ikea and picked the colour I thought we needed. Turns out it wasnt the right colour. I picked light stained oak (or whatever its called) but the Kallax is beech. They stopped making the beech ones a few years ago. My solution was to alternate the drawers so both sets of drawers have a light stained oak drawer and a beech one 😂
Shelves look great and love how you organized them! Are you going to put the educational toys you use with the triplets on them too? Haha when you asked the twins if they had a nap with the dark circles under their eyes and getting cranky before dinner! I bet they went to bed early!
Shelving looks good, don’t notice the colour difference as much with things on it. I wonder if you took a shelf from the older one to Bunnings, they might be able to tell you the colour. They have a machine that colour matches.
13:35 I recommend using either toilet roll tubes or seeing if there are a juice bottle/carton you can cut down to fit snugly in the back space of the caddy for the coloured pencils as dividers. That way the pencils stay more upright if there’s a few less in there sometimes.
When Sylvie said "it's everyones birthday" my mind just went "I guess I must go get cake for mine then!" I just completely forgot that at the store today, silly me 🤷🏻♀️
Probably a bunch of people answered but in the US we call them base boards. If at the middle of the wall, chair railing and at the top crown molding. 😊
All your kids are really great...I really have a special liking fir Evan..he seems real mature and close to you..maybe cos he is the eldest!?.... like I said recently they are smart sweet.. know how to have fun outdoors( thanks to you) get along n read a lot ... you guys must b real proud parents.
you can make homemade wood stain using vinegar and steel wool mixed. tea or coffee works well too. you could experiment with a spot or two. using a cloth to just wipe it on and wipe it off. lots of recipes online and shows versions to find colors. longer exposure makes darker colors. might be able to find a way to match the outside to the inside. good luck, it looks cool.
I'm moving to a new place soon so I'm getting excited thinking about how I'm gonna place everything and new organization methods, so I loved seeing your new wooden pencil and book thingies, they look so great ❤ I know they are just such simple things and probably meaningless for some people but I just love organization so muchhh ahahaha
I had the exact same thing with the old and new ikea shelves. they change colour over time, from sun exposure. After some time they will look the same!
This thing with someone visiting your rental every 3 months would not go over well in the US. 😊😅 I can’t even imagine. It probably is good for keeping the properties in good/safe working order though, so I do get why it’s done.
You can try dark wax on the shelfs. In the Netherlands 🇳🇱 we never have a property check if you are a renter or not. Only when neighbours complaint by the owner they can make an appointment with you,but if you don't want they are not allowed to come in.
I live in Sweden (though I don't know if it matters in this case) and I have seen some old Ivar shelves that are similar in color to your "stained" one. Also I had some that were used and a couple of years and they were darker and browner than the new ones. Also I have a few that I bought new last summer and they already changed color a little bit (they get a little bit darker and more yellow).
We call them skirting boards in the UK but there’s also beading you can buy that goes around the edge of the wooden floors. It’s nowhere near as high as skirting boards but still looks tidy 😊
❤ 😊🙏🏻 Hello to each of you . I was thinking back to the big jigsaw puzzles the kids used to put together on the floor, they had lots of fun , bet you still have them somewhere . 🖐 bye . Turning it off now .

“It’s everyone’s birthday” OMG she is soo cute and smart!! I mean, i vote to have an “everyone’s birthday” at least once a month 😂😂
Riiight? She just wants the fun of gifts and a good cake (with candles to blow out) I don’t fault her logic there it is fun 😊
Yes! I love the idea of everyone's birthday! More cakes and gifts to open.😊😊😊
She said it’s everyone’s birthday then named all her immediate family by groups, starting with Evan having the last Birthday with her favourite strawberry cake, then her and Coco, the triplets, the big kids and mom and dad, wow she is an intelligent little two year old ! ❤
Yes, she just loves the cake 🍰
Little Sylvie speaking makes my day! She has the cutest voice and expressions.
My experience with IKEA untreated pine wood is that it darkens naturally in sunlight. The original book shelves were probably not stained but just sun darkened over a period of a year.
Yes, exactly what I wanted to write, give it some time and it will probably be a lot closer in colour 😊
I like the way Ro set up the shelves so that the darker one is in the middle. I agree with the others commenting that the color will change over time. I love the organization of the bins for school work. It’s pretty close to how I have my classroom set up (I’m a public school teacher in California). :)

I think the two wood colors look fine together, and if you fill the shelves with wooden crates/organizers/toys etc. in other natural wood shades it will look really lovely! As if you meant it to be this way all along.
I think the darker one in the middle with the lighter ones on the side looks quite nice....rather intentional instead of accidental mismatch
i feel like cosmo’s hit that age where every time you say “no”, he hears “convince me” 😂
Yes he seems to not listen like the other children, he is more of a handful !
@@theresacormier3253 i think it's an age thing - two year olds spend a lot of time testing boundaries and figuring out how far they can push things!
I agree!
In the US we call them base boards I love learning the difference in what things are called
My family in Europe calls it “wainscoting” 😊
In England we call them skirting boards as well
The differences are very interesting to me!
In Canada we call it trim mainly or sometimes baseboards depending on the person lol
Baseboards

I like the books facing this way, with all the colors! After all it is a kids schooling space :)
Looks great! I don’t think you will notice the color in a week! I love all the wooden boxes and globes! Love to all of you beautiful people!
The new organization looks wonderful! Also, I love Felix's little books! That's how I was when I was a kid and now I'm trying to get published :)
I just love silve voice it is so cute listening to her your children are so smart and very understanding 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Sylvie has the cutest sweetest voice. It must be somebody’s birthday. Somebody must need a cake and candles.
oh, skirting boards do have a use! to protect walls from damage and damp! (as an architect :) )
That precious Sylvie melts my heart!❤
I think the shelves look good like that. It’s hard to notice when the different one is in the middle.
I think it makes it more interesting and just looks like part of a design.
the only family in youtube that I enjoy to watch
How cute is this double cuddle adorable 😊🤗❤️
The shelves look so cute with all the organizing! I love it so much! I think the different colored one looks nice in the middle with the lighter ones on the end. :)
The differant colored sheves makes it more interesting and gives depth and movement to it. That's a good thing. I really like it.
I noticed too that your house doesn't have skirting boards! I thought it was the norm im Australia lol.

From France : Thank-you for all your videos 😊
I prefer Sylvie's attitude toward birthdays! ❤☺
"It's everybody's birthday."
Yeah, I always wanted it to be a birthday too, except maybe in December, when everybody got presents and sweets anyway.
I love what you have done so far with the home school shelves.
Hi, they are called base boards in Ohio (US) at the bottom of the wall. I LOVE the way you organized the shelves. They look really nice. Sending LOVE and HUGS your way. BYE!!!!
The shelves look good and will settle further with time.
They are all growing up, so quickly 🙂
Chloe, I think the middle shelf is oiled. If you oil the other two they will be very similar. Raw woods never end up the same.Xxxx
I love, how Ro is wearing pink so selfconfident and its not a big deal!!
Yeah, get so tired of guys wearing black head to toe, it gets boring.
those twins are a handful at times but so beautiful
Oh wow that’s a lot for inspection. I think in the US it depends on the landlord. My daughters is once a year. I love what you and Roe do with the house. The shelves look good that way. I wouldn’t worry about the different color. I think it looks nice just how you have it !

Baseboards, yes one word, in Canada. Your twins are adorable 😊
baseboards in America, too.
But I couldn't remember until I saw your comment about Canada!
@@kathrynreissauthor lol!
Maybe a tip for the cabinets. Switch the stained and natural boards. Mix and match. And they fit togetter...
In Canada it is called Baseboards. My apt. inpection was last week (only once per year) You spend hours getting every thing perfect, they walk in and say " looks good " 30 seconds max and they are gone.
Beautiful children. Love the twin girl Sylvia? She’s so smart. ❤
Her name is just Sylvie actually!!! And I agree with you, she does seem to be a clever little one

You are right
In the US we say base boards
I would paint the shelves in a nice color. Maybe green or pink? But love the unpainted storage units you put on the shelves!
Shelves look great and love how you organized them! Are you going to put the educational toys you use with the triplets on them too? Haha when you asked the twins if they had a nap with the dark circles under their eyes and getting cranky before dinner! I bet they went to bed early!

The twins look like your hubby! You have beautiful kids!!
Waiting to see if little Birdie grows up to be as vocal as Sylvie, who is most ADORABLE.
When Sylvie said "it's everyones birthday" my mind just went "I guess I must go get cake for mine then!" I just completely forgot that at the store today, silly me 🤷🏻♀️
I also bought a house that came with some problems, I solved them over time, fixing, painting and fixing everything my way.
We had the same problem with old and new ikea wood. I stained the new wood with tea. It was non toxic cheap and matched really well
Probably a bunch of people answered but in the US we call them base boards. If at the middle of the wall, chair railing and at the top crown molding. 😊
Hello. I think the shelves r fine the way u set them up with the colored one in the middle . An once u set them up I think the colors won't matter....

Stain colour looks like Baltic pine. Americans call them base boards, we call them skirting boards. Love the little ones deep voices, very cute.
Life with the Bean Family!!! Wonderful Day!
Maybe you could mix up the shelves too so there will be a nice mix of lighter and darker ones and call it a design edition ;)
The shelves look great with the darker one in the middle 👍 I love Felix and Evans t-shirts, too 👕😎
I love your videos, your such a lovely family

You can really hear her accent now..
So cute. Of course you might not since she sounds like you but to my US ear, she sounds Aussie now!
Miss match it actually looks fancy like that need a second dark one on the end 4 shelves to complete the pattern!

Yes we have inspections here in uk if renting too.We have every 6 months mostly ❤
I think you solved the shelf-problem well. The new ones will darken, I am sure.

Skirting boards in the UK too. Cosmo is banana obsessed 😂

I think the wood darkens over time
Yes it does. We used to have those and they just darken in the sunlight
Exactly :)
Amazing shelves and great selection love ur family
Kmart has wooden alphabet letters you could glue to the front of each set of books!
❤ 😊🙏🏻 Hello to each of you . I was thinking back to the big jigsaw puzzles the kids used to put together on the floor, they had lots of fun , bet you still have them somewhere . 🖐 bye . Turning it off now .
Definitely skirting boards in New Zealand. And here we have inspections like that here if you are renting
We call them base boards but skirting board is neat
Maybe put the globe racks in the order of darkest to lightest wood shade?
I would totally message the seller and see if they know what they used!
I sort of like the shelves. I think it looks like a pattern like it was meant to be that way!
Just mix a cup of coffee and rub on the other shelves to get the same colour, it works great!
Heyy, in portugal we dont have that type of renting inspection. That sounds scary and stressful!
If you kept the conversation at marketplace, you could ask them if they remember what brand and color they used on the wood.
Thanks!
Skirting boards in the US are baseboards.
