Pre-smartphone zombification Japan was the best country on Earth. Also, it's pleasantly surprising to see so few _gaijin_ back then.

I went to Japan in 2004, and, granted I came from rural Midwest America, where cell phones were still uncommon, I will always remember how everyone was glued to their flip-phones. There were so many different kinds of phones, though, and they seemed so varied and full of more features than anything I’d ever seen in the states.

      he is not totally wrong.
Regarding the smartphones, nothing changed much. they were already glued to their phones and I-mode back then.
But when it comes to infestation of foreigners, he is right. Tokyo and most big cities are fked beyond repair.. It was definitely better in the early 2000 and until 2010. Then it went downhill. The woke cancer is putting the nail in the coffin.
      source: in Japan since 2002.
