I was absolutely floored hearing a perfect hawk call followed by a perfect Mario death.
It was a blue jay call
That's a blue jay "food" call. I guess they found Apollo's pistash.
Like others have said it was a bluejay, but a neat fact about them is that they are mimids, which means they mimic other sounds and bird calls.
So, one of the techniques they use when they want a bird feeder or other food source to themselves is that they mimic hawk calls so all the other birds will scatter.
@@rskye11 Mimids are a certain family of birds including the mockingbird. The blue jay is a corvid, not a mimid. However it is a MIMIC.
@@mr.d00m37 corvids are often excellent at being mimics, so I see where they went wrong
I think it is funny that we can hear Dalton's inflections in Apollo's voice.

yeah, there is an old video somewhere of a seal also repeating common phrases of it's trainer and with the same accent

Honestly same. The love I felt for my bird before she passed is immeasurable, and I can never forget her. Something about watching the same kind of bond in a different flock does help quell the pain a little bit though.

Condolences to everyone on this thread. 🙏🕊️ I had a series of parakeets growing up, and they each were such distinct personalities. I can't imagine losing a bird that has been your companion for the decades that larger birds live. 💔
We had the first budgie as an only bird for a long time. 🐦 She fully thought she was human. When we got our 2nd she was like, "Why does the birb have to stay in my room (cage)? Why is this birb obsessed with me and always following me around?" Our 2nd birb was such a cutiepie and a little bit mischievous as she got less shy. 💘 She adored birb #1 and looked up to her. Was just the sweetest creature ever. They brightened up some pretty dark times. That's the closest bond I've ever had with a pet. 🪄🦜✨
Imagine you wake up in the middle of the night and all you hear is “Wanna earn a pistash?” from down the hall…

Watching other African Gray videos, the parents say their African Grays will practice new words and work on their enunciating in the mornings and early evenings when they think they are alone. The same thing with Corvids.

His bird sounds are so good that I can tell you have blue jays outside. It's amazing how well they can copy sounds. He's so smart! I love listening to parrots when they're just "talking to themselves" and practicing their sounds.
i love how he asks for snacks by saying he wants a snack and when that doesnt work he starts saying good bird and good boy since thats probably often followed by him recieving a snack. Its so adorable like watching a lil kid
We've been spoiled today with the return of Apollo's squirrel detector, bird detector and succbird aliases at the same time.
back in the 90's, my dad had an african grey. my dad was sick, so he was retired, & he played Mario world on nintendo 64 or whatever it was on at the time. the african grey mimicked every coin sound, or 'lets a go'
imagine an intruder entering your dad's house and all of a sudden he/she hears "let's a go!"
1:09 after Apollo made the bird of prey sounds, out loud I went 'wow!' and immediately after he goes 'woooooaaaoOOOOOwww.' (aka Mario falling) 🤣🤣🤣 I laughed so hard, It couldn't have been more perfectly timed

Omg my boyfriend and I WHEEZED at the Mario sounds! We watch every single Apollo video as they’re uploaded, I think it’s super cute how he sounds just like Dalton when he speaks, and all of the pop culture references make us super happy! We’re considering getting a bird at some point, probably a an Indian ringneck because they’re great talkers but way smaller than an African gray, at some point because we love listening to Apollo talk so much!

I always seem to end up watching Apollo videos at night and the sheer self control I have to exert to not go wake my gray up to play is too much! But alas my lil boy will be so grumpy if woken up past his bedtime/nightime routing and passive aggressively tell me “go to bed time!” And then relent for extra cuddles/scritches
These videos are the only things that make me smile when I'm in a bad depressive episode. I love Apollo ❤

I just noticed Apollos red tail feathers. I love them, they make him look so different from any of the other birds. He is so Handsome and can really understand you as well as carry on a conversation, that is if he wanted to. He is such a smart bird 🐦 👏.
