Just a hint for future reference. Unless you intend to swap out the CPU don't take the time to remove it. Just leave it in the socket and clean it off. Much less chance of messing up a pin that way, especially if you vacuum around the socket when it isn't covered. I've had to repair (or at least attempt to repair) way too many socket pins because someone took out the cpu when they didn't need to and messed them up. Save yourself some grief, time, and potential damage repair.
I found one of these just week sitting next to a dumpster. Popped it open to have a look inside, surprisingly all the parts were there, so I took it home, took the canned air to it to evict the dust bunnies and bought an AC cable for it since it was missing. It powered on instantly when plugged in. I'm currently lacking a VGA cable to figure out the system's health or what it has, or if the thing even works (considering it was headed to the landfill I have my doubts). I'll find out more when the cable arrives in the mail. For now I know that the disk drives can eject and the fans spin, so there's that. Otherwise seems very different from the one in this vid. This one has a CT4810 sound card, a floppy drive and two disk drives (one is a Secur Disc burner), a 40gb Maxtor hard drive, 240W Compaq power supply, different motherboard (sp#323091). Bizarrely it has 3 sticks of 128mb DDR ram, leaving the 4th slot unused.
I stuck a video card in mine. It is an HIS Radeon X1650. I thought that it was a Radeon X1950 at first glance. I stuck it in a HP Compaq D530 Convertible Minitower.
I got a couple of these from my school after they upgraded to Dell thin pc's, the ones I got have core 2 duos, firewire cards, and upgraded graphics card as they were from the video/audio classroom.
I had this PC back in the old days before I ended up one day frying the Power Supply (changed the switch on the back from 220V to 110V) leaving smokes and bad smell in the room.
FYI, the stripped screws are where there should be rivets. So someone drilled out the rivets, for no reason at all as all parts are accessible by the removable side panel.
my friend who refurbishes and sells computers gets things like these all of the time and i get all of the ones that he says are to old to work on. i have 6 of these ones from him and they are really nice running machines they run windows xp pro like a dream
I managed to get hold of 3 HP's for free, a HP Compaq DX2400, HP Pro 3515 MT, and a HP Pro 3151 series machine. All just had general easy to fix issues.
for the same amount (4.5 euros ) I found a dc 7600 small form factor, goes like clockwork :) I've linked it to my new HD tv to use as a smart tv device, it works perfectly..also, very silent machine
I have seen systems just like that at local thrift stores but usually they are all filled with dust and not worth trying to clean out. Next time I see one that is not dusty I will have to pick it up and maybe salvage some parts from it. :)
I noticed the River Star t-shirt as well. We had those PCs when I worked for one of the school systems around here. We donated, gave away, or threw away hundreds of decent computers. Most people thought it was a waste of time to keep them running. I disagree.
AA computers and technology hiya can you give me any advice or help to upgrade an old hp pavilion xp pc to install windows 7 or 10 iv tried to upgrade it but it's only letting me install windows xp I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong
I've got a Compaq Evo D510 SFF, with a P4 @2.00 Ghz. There's one shitty capacitor next to the CPU that is bolging, is that a deal? Or doesn't it matter?
Nice job, But I suggest that you get yourself a REAL Air compressor (pan cake type) from Home depot and really blow out everything BEFORE you start working on it, quicker easy and cleaner
I still have a Pentium 4 HT (3.0 GHz) in use by visiting children. I had 2 x 1 GB of 400 MHz DDR. I striped two 40 GB IDE disk using btrfs. The disks are also lzo compressed and that old Pentium boots Peppermint 9 now in 45 seconds. When booting Windows XP on such a 2003 PC, I would go for a coffee, but this PC is too fast now.
Just a suggestion, could you possibly use a version of windows on some of your reviews instead of xubuntu? It would be interesting to see how the computers perform with a modern version of windows? Even Xp is still cool. Just a suggestion....
Hey quick question I have the exact same pc and I'm selling it and I was just wondering which website you use to sell them and if I may ask how much you expect to get for it?
I just throw them up on eBay. I would not expect much from something like this, maybe $15-$25 in profit after everything is all said and done (shipping, repairs, packing supplies, ect.....)
A few tips for ya. Way to much thermal paste. The size of a grain of rice is nice. To much and it will leak out shorting the board. Also use specialized vacuums for electronics like the DataVac ESD safe. House hold vacuums are not ESD safe. Otherwise nice restore.
Personally I have never really liked the grain of rice thing. I usually opt to put a bit more on it. I agree this amount was a tad bit excessive though, I was not paying attention. Haha, I am too cheap to buy a dedicated vacuum, I have never run into any problems with using the Dyson. Honestly if ESD from the vacuum kills a system like this I would not care too much. Thanks for the tips and thanks for watching!
Hi like your video on your HP compaq D7600 Cmt, here is the problem I have a HP Compaq D530 CMT I need to upgrade it to OS system because I forgot my pass word on it and don't have the windows Xp Pro OS system disc for it can you help or any tips?
I think that this computer could handle Windows 7/10 64-Bit pretty fine if you get more ram and putting a decent graphics card on it. It would be still usable with todays web browsers and standard softwares. God price btw! :D
can you review this Intel Xeon E5450 www.aliexpress.com/item/works-on-LGA-775-mainboard-no-need-adapter-For-Xeon-E5450-CPU-3-0GHz-12M-1333/32332257819.html?spm=2114.13010308.0.73.8jU4NW
I have this one in my house, same hp compaq dc7600 cmt, but with newer spec [pentium D 3.4ghz, 2gb ram, 80gb hdd(later added same 80gb hdd but the second hdd is broken), running win7 'rog', also equipped with both diskette and dvd-rom drive]

Hey AA do you take requests for reviews? if so can you check out the dell fx160 on ebay it cost only 30 without the harddrive might need a right angle adapter or sata extension because many dont have the tray for it
I usually do not take requests. I make overviews on whatever I can get my hands on for cheap :p ! Those small form factor systems do look really cool though. Haha, now I really want to buy one XD
I could not find any FX160's with the atom 330 for a reasonable price, I did however buy two other small form factor systems because I thought they would make interesting video subjects. I will not say anymore, I do not want to give too much away!
Media production or refurbishing computers? If you are talking about RUclips then the best tip I could probably give you is to set you expectations low for your first 30 videos or so. It takes a little bit of time to figure out what people want and how to clearly present. I am, to this day, still learning and improving my presentation style. Also be kind to your community, without them there would not be a you.

10:08 now we know why Pentium 4s run so hot.... people leave their mixtapes in them.
too spicy.

That sounds a lot easier and safer, I think I will do that next time!
+mike then they shouldn't be working with pcs at all
Agreed Commentator. Some people shouldn't even be allowed to use a computer, let alone work on one.
cee128d Some people just don't listen.

Your videos are really fun to watch, especially since I collect garage sale computers myself. Nice to know I'm not the only one that loves doing this!
those connectors on the sound card are designed in a way in which it appears to be bent. It isn't actually bent
Im watching this video on the Hp Compaq D530 Windows XP tower I bought today. I think its quite the nice tower
Can it run cs 1.6 half life 2

Kcwomack I personally hate rivets on systems, I removed all of them from my systems, why, I wanted to be able to paint my stuff
my friend who refurbishes and sells computers gets things like these all of the time and i get all of the ones that he says are to old to work on. i have 6 of these ones from him and they are really nice running machines they run windows xp pro like a dream
Xubuntu-Good Choice. I put that on a dell from 2004, ran fine. Enable zram on those low ram pc's, helps.
What is the maximum processor you can put in it Q6700 with a 1066MHz system bus or Xeon 5482 with a 1600Mhz system bus
la placa de sonido interna si funciona, solo esta deshabilitada desde la bios

1801 как решить? и usb 2.0 не работает
I have one, but it beeps at me when I turn it on. I tried to change the 2032, new graphics card and ...... Nothin, any suggestions
my school has the 7700 SFF version of these PC's, and I ramp up the fans all the time and leave it there.
I would always replace rather than use oil cause if a fan goes the system will overheat especially the cpu fan 👍
I love the pc case tho
I have the sff version of the same computer. I use it as a retro gaming machine.
i was looking this video on an hp dc7700 and they look so simillar also iys bascily the same pc witha core 2 duo
i think that compaq first came with the pci expansion slot idea and hp utilized it when they brought compaq
I have the small form factor variation and it's upgraded with an and Radeon r7 240 and a core 2 quad
How is performance?
for the same amount (4.5 euros ) I found a dc 7600 small form factor, goes like clockwork :) I've linked it to my new HD tv to use as a smart tv device, it works perfectly..also, very silent machine
I know this is and old vid but I just refurbished my family's old compaq running windows Xp pro
Tristen Altman nice
This computer looks similar with the HP D530 CMT!
Mmm That Heatsink Is Nice, Crispy, Tasty, And Clogged Up! 23:43
Dell gx series are good for using expansion cards
I have seen systems just like that at local thrift stores but usually they are all filled with dust and not worth trying to clean out. Next time I see one that is not dusty I will have to pick it up and maybe salvage some parts from it. :)
Yeah , it might be worth it as long as the price is right!
+AA Computers and Technology Definitely!
I wish in England we were able to just buy old PC's like that but everyone just bins them here.
Time for some dumpster diving then :p !
I have one too, wich has P4 soket 436 2.6 ghz,and two 80 gb Seagate Baracuda drives,in rest is the same
Mine is Socket 775 + P4 HT 3.06ghz

Yeah, it is definitely still a usable machine! eBay, please do not ask for my username, I do not give it out to subscribers.
I wish I had 5mbps or even 3 I had to upgrade just to get 1.6 upload lol.

are you goign upgrade the ram to 2gig of ram in it
I will probably just ship it with 1GB, I do not have any spare DDR-2 that I am willing to part with :p .
I have one of these, but the thermal paste is just fried. Should I buy a New one? Or should I sell that pc??
A few tips for ya. Way to much thermal paste. The size of a grain of rice is nice. To much and it will leak out shorting the board. Also use specialized vacuums for electronics like the DataVac ESD safe. House hold vacuums are not ESD safe. Otherwise nice restore.

If the thermal paste would short the board, then my cat could fly :/
Arctic Silver 5 is conductive and I have had it do this in the past when putting too much on.

You're a river star!

you think your upload speed is slow? try having yours cap out at 0.95mbps
I'm not even joking. Mine is around 120kbps max. It took days to download fortnite. My hotspot is actually my wifi
What Oil are you using ?
Im using multi purpose oil now, but im not really sure what is best for those fans.
I know there are tons of oils and what so ever, but i dont really know what kind of oils to use for them. If you do, than please just tell me name. Thanks.
You dont have a flathead screwdriver?
Can you please show me how to close the case of the cpu please
just wondering what do u do with all these pc's
3.4 GHz for a Pentium 4 isn't bad.....with more ram, I think it would run Win7 fine. That's a nice sound card, definitely not a budget card.
That may have Windows xp and it's really good
I think my school had some computers like that
actually not
What do you do with these pcs after servicing them?
To whom do you sell this computer to? Do you have a eStore?
what do you do with all the computers you don't sell?
why are the core 2 duo machines so dirt cheap in your country? in the Netherlands this thing is over 100$
@@tristan6509 wow I can barely get 30$ for a core 2 duo tower in canada
nice Video Collection you have
very good
That 20+4 pin connector didn't seem to be plugged in all the way.

Why do you always use Linux instead of using the windows keys on the case?
Hey AA do you take requests for reviews? if so can you check out the dell fx160 on ebay it cost only 30 without the harddrive might need a right angle adapter or sata extension because many dont have the tray for it

nice i was hoping to get 4-5 and install emuos with cheap ssds and resell them as retro consoles with internet acess
also be sure its the atom 330 version if you get one its a dual core with hyperthreading basically a weaker i3
I could not find any FX160's with the atom 330 for a reasonable price, I did however buy two other small form factor systems because I thought they would make interesting video subjects. I will not say anymore, I do not want to give too much away!
AA Computers and Technology nice if i find any ill make a video on my other channel +Potato in Action
