Depends.... exactly which producers from Shadowhunters &/or The Originals, honestly. The only reason the movie almost didn't come out and never got a sequel was most likely because the movie's original producer Gordon Gray's daughters(back then aged 4 & 2 yrs old) were diagnosed with Batten disease. His eldest actually passed away from it just last year, at age 13. (Doctors initially thought she wouldn't likely make it past 6 yrs old.) If he hadn't quit working on Fallen and started working on raising awareness and fundraising instead for expedited medical research to try and find a treatment or cure when previously there had been none, she likely wouldn't have made it even that long. So we were really just lucky that some other kindly producer managed to come along to pick the project up again in post-production and even get the movie released at all. But it wasn't released with the same kind of promotional coverage and/or distribution channels or such like movies usually have so basically no one ever even heard of it except people who had already read the books and also managed to stay current with production news without just giving up on its release completely before it finally did come out at all.
love the cast, but what’s the point of basing this on the book series if there’s not one element of the plot except the setting? like i really loved the concept of the books and instead they all go for the sci fi aes like we haven’t seen hundreds of shows with this vibe. GIVE US THE FANTASY, GIVE US THE ROMANCE, GIVE US ESCAPISM
Yess, I was so confused watching this, cause I thought no way is this based on the book. I kept thinking maybe this is a different series based on something else and it just happens to be named fallen.
It's almost as if it's a whole different story. They did this with the shadowhunter series as well. Honestly, the movie was much better. Same for this one.

They completely changed it. Changed it too much. That's very disappointing. I don't want to watch it simply for that reason. I hate what they seem to have done with the actual story. But if I'd never read the books, speaking with an unbiased opinion, then yes, it looks interesting and the sort of thing I'd want to watch.

I think they might be going for college-age instead of underage teenagers, they did that with the Shadowhunters, and with the Vampire Academy shows, probably so they can include sex and such. I was scared about both of those shows, but in my opinion, they were actually good, I also appreciated they got rid of the problematic issue in Vampire Academy with Demitry and Rose's age difference and the fact he was her teacher, instead of 17 and 25 they were 18-19 and 22-23 and not a teacher.
I am so mad with the latest Vampire Academy series. It is horrible. The movie was campy, and wasn't well done, but I can still enjoy it. The series is soulless, boring, horribly acted, horribly produced, horribly written, just oof. I was so excited when I saw it was released, and so disappointed when I watched it. I am a huge fan of the books, and enjoyed the first movie, even if it wasnt great.

Okay, cannot really judge because I haven’t seen anything yet, BUT, Daniel ALWAYS remembers Luce, how can you totally abandon that?? The tragedy of their love was always the same every time they met - they fall in love, they kiss, Luce dies, Daniel still lives as he is an angel, and decades after Luce gets reincarnated and all this happens again. Luce loses her memory every time but DANIEL ALWAYS REMEMBERS LUCE! Seeing how they changed this, I feel like they changed much more 🙄
NOOOOO the only reason why I watch the movie over and over again is because of the beautiful setting, the library, the misty pool, the vines and plants everywhere. Although I found the execution of the plot to be really bad and the movie overall left a lot to be desired, the vibe was perfection!! This show seems modern and stark :(

Was able to watch the series early; gotta say I was surprised with how much I liked it in the end. Had to keep an open mind going in with how things are obviously different from the books, and I felt it was the right call with how some of them played out. There’s still the core material that is always the underlying plot/theme it is just now shaped (rather well I might add) more as a thrilling, dark mystery. Great performances as well, regardless of how I originally pictured. Will say, if you’ve come looking for a word-for-word re-telling of the book, then sorry as it’s more like the story is severely inspired by the books with some source material hinted at every now and again (still prominent overall)! I think it’s going to be underrated, as it’s still a rather hidden gem of a good modern dark fantasy/mystery
I loved the show. Got to watch it recently. Obsessed with how great Cam was in it. Season 2 is a necessity. But from the looks of things, maybe it won't come🙂

The CHOKEHOLD the first 2 books of this series had on me when I was 13! I never read the third, but I read book 1 at least 10 times and book 2 a couple times too!

The cast isn’t doing it for me… the movie was so magical. It had an ethereal angel vibe. There’s so much confusion and blatant horror to this trailer? It’s meant to be an epic romance? A love story dating back to the ages? Constant cycle of death and rebirth? Why am I not getting that here? And why is Daniel not giving me Daniel vibes? Like he’s very out of place? when I saw this trailer on British actor Joseph Morgans IG - I didn't have the volume on- so I did not identify the trailer as Lauren Kates "Fallen" with this- there's a massive concept and character depiction swap and that drove me nuts! yes Lucinda is English, but in a past life, she's meant to be southern/american for the bigger part of the story. and with black hair/ hazel eyes. nothing against the actress playing her, but such a huge novelty switch up!

A developed troubled kid from the south sentenced to sword and cross. She meets the other angels but isn’t aware they are angels. Despite often having dreams about Daniel with wings.

I watched the whole season in one day and I loved it! Not an exact replica of the book, but I believe this did better than the movie I hope they make a season 2! Definitely give it a try!

it was half a boarding school half a reform system for riffraff kids. And some teens can look a lot older (guess it depends on growth spirt and genetics) plus since it has angels, one would guess that they're supposed to look half youthful half adult- including luce.
None of these actors are in there mid 30s they are in there 20s just one being 30. Also it is a school you think they treat prisoners like that and let them go out

Perfect from start to finish! Fallen series is perfection, I'm shocked. Gijs and Jessica are the couple of the year!

They should've done a tv show with the actors from the movie... They were perfect.
Was able to watch the series early; gotta say I was surprised with how much I liked it in the end. Had to keep an open mind going in with how things are obviously different from the books, and I felt it was the right call with how some of them played out. There’s still the core material that is always the underlying plot/theme it is just now shaped (rather well I might add) more as a thrilling, dark mystery. Great performances as well, regardless of how I originally pictured. Will say, if you’ve come looking for a word-for-word re-telling of the book, then sorry as it’s more like the story is severely inspired by the books with some source material hinted at every now and again (still prominent overall)! I think it’s going to be underrated, as it’s still a rather hidden gem of a good modern dark fantasy/mystery

Everyone says that until their favorite show is cancelled like Acolyte due to paltry flop level views and ratings .... never insult the important fanbase and always cater to them: in every book adaptation the important fanbase are the readers not surface level fans
The CHOKEHOLD the first 2 books of this series had on me when I was 13! I never read the third, but I read book 1 at least 10 times and book 2 a couple times too!

The cast isn’t doing it for me… the movie was so magical. It had an ethereal angel vibe. There’s so much confusion and blatant horror to this trailer? It’s meant to be an epic romance? A love story dating back to the ages? Constant cycle of death and rebirth? Why am I not getting that here? And why is Daniel not giving me Daniel vibes? Like he’s very out of place?
If the producers of the originals and shadow hunters have anything to do with this we are doomed…
Because it's only season one. And the characters here are more nuanced than in the books.

when I saw this trailer on British actor Joseph Morgans IG - I didn't have the volume on- so I did not identify the trailer as Lauren Kates "Fallen" with this- there's a massive concept and character depiction swap and that drove me nuts! yes Lucinda is English, but in a past life, she's meant to be southern/american for the bigger part of the story. and with black hair/ hazel eyes. nothing against the actress playing her, but such a huge novelty switch up!

But Luce keeps forgetting about them because of a curse which is emphasised at the beginning of the book 1800 time. She combusts then reincarnates becoming Lucinda price. A developed troubled kid from the south sentenced to sword and cross. She meets the other angels but isn’t aware they are angels. Despite often having dreams about Daniel with wings.

It seems that whoever chose the cast didn’t even know for what he was doing the cast. Why is it so difficult to choose actors according to the book description?
Bcz it's not going for the book description🙄The movie had a white faced brooding bore and it failed like it was supposed to with content like that. This series looks inspired in the right proportions, innovative and with characters that look real, not out of wattpad.

@@auroraottaviano9664 book inspired series and movies are very common without following the plot to the tee. This is good and the cast is good, people should stop being such lookists. it is what it is , it didn't promise to be faithful to the book all the way. And to me that's a great decision
@@CatshopFighter well, what’s the point in having descriptions in the first place if the people choosing the cast do it blindfolded? Personally, since the tv series is something that you see, I find the visual part is fundamental, and looking at the comments, I’m not the only one. Then, I’ll watch it anyway to have a better way to judge it but so far I’m quite disappointed.
@@auroraottaviano9664 I understand book readers disappointment in not getting a proper to the word adaptation. But frankly that movie sucked hard, the CGI was childish. People here are calling that movie better looking. I question their judgement. The series went for something that'd look real. Daniel isn't some brooding angel here, a proper teenager. It looks way better. It just didn't go for the gothic look of the academy.

it was half a boarding school half a reform system for riffraff kids. And some teens can look a lot older (guess it depends on growth spirt and genetics) plus since it has angels, one would guess that they're supposed to look half youthful half adult- including luce.
In this series they are young adults over 20 years old
None of these actors are in there mid 30s they are in there 20s just one being 30. Also it is a school you think they treat prisoners like that and let them go out
