Loved this series guys. Every Thursday when I saw a new video was up, I immediately stopped what I was doing to watch it. Love you guys. Every video helps me out.
I loved this fight scene and this whole month...especially the hallway fight! It's all great informative stuff! You guys should do a month like this for other genres.
I. LOVED. THIS. One critique is that I noticed a few shots that were either sped up, or, had frames removed. I know these are common tricks used in fight scenes, but they did take me out of the experience a bit. Other then that, it was very entertaining! Great work!
Hi beautiful film .. i love the color grading . . please make a tutorial for this colorgrading . . also one more question to ask . . do you used subbed sound for dialogues/expression or you used sync sound recorded? . . Thank You
amazing short!! looks like a ton for preproduction planning, however a hand full of extras to fill out the scene would have upped the production value 10 fold. Im sure you thought of this in preproduction. why no extras?
What kind of back pad did you use and where can I get one for sorta cheap if yours was expensive? I don't have a big budget but I also don't want my actor hurt.
Ry, ive just shot a noir film, but i always find myself stuggling to get a film look with a canon dslr (700d/T5i) any tips? btw would love to see your take on a noir? :D
I feel like the guy who's always picking and not saying anything nice: This was my favorite too, but constructively, the shot of the stunt coordinator passing out from behind the bar was wayyyyyyy funnier that the wide-low shot. re-edit and re-submit, please. *wink*
Head over to DJI's RUclips channel, they have more content about these videos there but yeah, it's promo work for DJI but honestly, I don;t care. I wish a company with a bit of money would pay me to make cool stuff for them that I could also use. :)
They do produce those for "DJI Film school" and get payd by DJI for that. Its awesome that they retained the rights to put them on their own channel. Those are probably the filmriot "shorts" with the best production value ever made and its great to see what ryan and his crew can pull of when they got a bit of money to work with. Give them money for a feature film!!
I once got smashed in the head with a home-made sugar-glass beer bottle. We weren't sure whether it was too thick and would injure me, but I was wearing a hood and face mask, so we stuck a couple of thick-ish Halloween masks under the hood but over my head, and it worked. I'm not sure if anybody really caught on that I got hit in the head with a bottle, though.
hey guys! I made a music video using after effects with some of the tips you guys gave about tracking & etc.. I just released it .. it's called "Dark Red" .. thanks a lot for the amazing content you guys put out. it helps me a bunch.
adding that extra character to the scene is filmmaker wisdom Ryan. Thanks for sharing. LOVE IT.
This whole series of videos is so useful
I totally agree!
Where's my "Why so hostility?" T-shirt?
A BAR FIGHT WITH NO EMILY?!?!? WHAT MADNESS IS THIS?
She was the psychopathic loan shark the drunk guy was talking about.
Loved this series guys. Every Thursday when I saw a new video was up, I immediately stopped what I was doing to watch it. Love you guys. Every video helps me out.
Ryan Connolly just WRECKED it.
I love how much better film riot has become over the years. Good work guys, keep it up
it's kind of amazing the effort you put in these video! really useful to learn how to work on a small set!
How does it feel to time travel
That scene really turned out great. Nice job dudes....
I loved this fight scene and this whole month...especially the hallway fight! It's all great informative stuff! You guys should do a month like this for other genres.
really loved the entire action month, this and high rise being my favorite, it does feel like Film Riot is back!
Trevor is love, Trevor is life. I want to hug him.
Congrats on almost a million subs!

+Film Riot ur so close!
Man you guys are amazing, each time you impress me with something new!
Great job!
NOW, it's time for FRES 2016 with Andrew Kramerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr !!!
you should've called this "Drunken Style" like a classic Kung-Fu Flick lol
best film channel around IMO!!!
Ryan, you sir, are a genius
Damn, I really loved the look of that scene; should do something like this in your next short film (action and look). Great work as usual, keep it up.

the lights are amazing in this video... just like you!
Damn! Daniel James has been kept busy with these things :P
Ryan im watching you since 20.000 subs.. you have developed man.. this is just amazing so well done
Hi Ryan, Whats going to be your next months theme?
Thriller, Horror, comedy, drama..... Oh the possibilities!
its def the best of the action scenes!!!!
Last action scene.... NOOOOOOOOoooooo!!!
I would absolutely love to work with you guys, great stuff, very professional and I feel like you guys are going to be big some day soon.
The talk about what moments to you plan to move the camera or keep it locked down, really helped me. Thanks!
i think the excellent ending for the cation month is -- a short film action Contest !
Whats in line for next month? Can't wait to see what you got up your sleeve for it. Great job guys!
good to see big bro Tim more often
Who's excited to see what they do for 1,000,000 subs?
Good job with the scene. I thought the sound worked well this time. Good sound of dialogues too.
Amazing and inspring, keep it up Ryan and Film riot!
I appreciate your work very much. ...it would be great if u do lighting tutorial for this video because the end product looks ridiculous. .....
I think, to end the video, if he left the shot with the camera behind the bar and him passing out, it would have been funnier.
Really loved this!
Thumbs up if you saw them making this live on periscope!!!
Also check my youtube channel! I make VFX shorts. If you like my shorts subscribe :) (I'm working on my 3rd one now)
You guys should have a short film contest ft. Subscribers xD
Hi beautiful film .. i love the color grading . . please make a tutorial for this colorgrading . . also one more question to ask . . do you used subbed sound for dialogues/expression or you used sync sound recorded? . . Thank You
love it. love it. love it. love it. love it. love it. love it. love it. love it. love it. love it. love it.

thank you film riot this technic helps me a lot
I operated my first shoot with the red scarlet and honestly idk how Ryan was operating it so flawlessly. That thing gets TIRING! LoL
Vancouver! Yay! :)
I love the beer label thing. I made my own beer with it and anyone liked it
Horror month for thus Halloween Ryan?!
Nice! What camera did you use on this one?
Where's the link for the BameYamm Beer label????
Just added. Thanks for the heads up.
;D
Ryan you guys do GREAT work. I'd love to see what you can do with a feature film with a good budget.
Really cool video !!👍🏼
What kind of back pad did you use and where can I get one for sorta cheap if yours was expensive? I don't have a big budget but I also don't want my actor hurt.
Reminded me a little of Jackie Chan's Drunken Master movies.
Why is the boom pole always upside down? Have I been putting the mic in the zeppelin kit backwards all these years? O.O
i love this short film
Ry, ive just shot a noir film, but i always find myself stuggling to get a film look with a canon dslr (700d/T5i) any tips? btw would love to see your take on a noir? :D
ooo I wanna see!
shooting at too high of a frame rate? 30fps ir higher? might try 24 fps
im shooting at 30 which is standard in uk i thought? maybe not, ill have to give 24 a try!
30 is standard tv. 24 is used in movies. you also might want to add some horizontal black bars in post to give a more film like aspect ratio.
yeah, i do have the widescreen bars on the footage to give it the 2:35:1 aspect ratio which is anamorphic:-)
What kind of ISO do you use when shooting in low light situations like this?
i'm thinking the last episode of the action month will be INTERCEPT!
One can only hope...
This was the last episode
Forever Films & Skits maybe....
What camera did you used for this film? Thanks Ryan.
#Awesome What kind of camera support is attached to the Ronin?
Looks fun to make.
So cool!
Quick Question -- Do you recommend a first-aid professional when shooting a fight scene like this? Or is a PA with a first-aid kit good enough?
Why did you guys choose to shoot the action sequences over the past month in Vancouver?
The fifteen dislikes this has must be from the people who worked at the bar.
What model is the fluorescent light in use at 1:08? I'm trying to decide between the Flolights and Kino Flos and my main concern is output.
Ordered a shirt from you about 2 months ago. Lets see that shipping notification please. Your website has no support contact option..
I remember when he periscoped about this!
How did you remove the shadow? Would you please do a tutorial on that?
Jeez Trevor's got a big stomach and he's doing spin kicks and sheet!!!! That's cooler than Chuck Norris right there!!!!
for me the theme of the short felt sort of like Jackie Chan's Legend of the Drunken Master.
I was hoping Emily would be back for this skit haha
Why did you use all the blue lights in the cafe? It didn't really give me the cafe feel and makes the scene seem somewhat weird to me.
A year later and still no intercept? Please?? What happened to intercept!!! I want to stuff into eyeballs!!!
You guys were in Vancouver??! ....... ;_;!!!!!
Who saw the bammie wham beer!!!!!!!!!! xD
when are these guys gonna make a feature film? lol
can you explain difference between "director's" job and "DOP's" job.
What was that Ronin support vest? I have only seen Easy Rig and Titan Armor, both not exactly what I want for a Ronin. Can you provide any info?
Tilta, not Titan. I just saw the reference to it in the DJI episode linked in the notes.
What was the liquid in the initial bottle he was taking shots of?
What kind of vest was the Ronin used with??
Sweet!!
I feel like the guy who's always picking and not saying anything nice: This was my favorite too, but constructively, the shot of the stunt coordinator passing out from behind the bar was wayyyyyyy funnier that the wide-low shot. re-edit and re-submit, please.
*wink*
How are financing these videos? Are they parts of a bigger thing or are all this new videos just made for RUclips?
They are being sponsored by DJI
***** Ah okay! So these videos are just made for RUclips?
Head over to DJI's RUclips channel, they have more content about these videos there but yeah, it's promo work for DJI but honestly, I don;t care. I wish a company with a bit of money would pay me to make cool stuff for them that I could also use. :)

What camera do you use to record your videos?
What equipment were use to film?
I once got smashed in the head with a home-made sugar-glass beer bottle. We weren't sure whether it was too thick and would injure me, but I was wearing a hood and face mask, so we stuck a couple of thick-ish Halloween masks under the hood but over my head, and it worked. What mics recommend?
Rode ntg series.. I got the 4+
Sennheiser MKH 416
Is that Josh playing the main character?
are you guys based in BC???
Game of Thrones reference at the end there.
What did you use to film this?
What mic/mics do you use?
Thanks! ^_^
hey guys! I made a music video using after effects with some of the tips you guys gave about tracking & etc.. I just released it .. it's called "Dark Red" .. thanks a lot for the amazing content you guys put out. it helps me a bunch.
Yo fatty kicks ass hands down nice kicks... Great character...
INTERCEPT!!!!
Reminds me of Shuan of the dead
should be "shooting at the club"
Where's your bro, bro!?
After he does the two spins, I suggest he moves his fist to his mouth (as if he is going to vomit) for the next time.
