Hey everyone! I hope you enjoyed this video of me using the Playstation Portal & Opal Travel Router Outdoors at the La Fitness parking lot. This is my new favorite Portal Accessory! Have any question about this router? Let me know in the comments below 🫡 Thanks for watching!
I literally said in the video that I was in a congested area so the connection wasn’t as fast. This is for people who want to bypass carrier mobile hotspot restrictions… why would it be ironic?
@@TechMarkGaming I dunno, I could never play with such horrible sound and dropped frames. Not trying to sound fancy, it would just be a bad experience to me.
How do you think this will work I work graveyard and have access to a wall outlet as well as a WiFi router would I be better off using a either net for the travel router or mobile hotspot I’d probably have to test it but also just trying to play nascar some MotoGP and couple other racing games no multiplayer stuff given that information how do you think it’ll do ? I have use just mobile hotspot for my m1 Mac to play no man’s sky Netflix but usually I run into using my data and kind slows down probably after about a week and half have non stop using… any tips are greatly appreciated
@@TechMarkGaming Nah it's not the algorithm bro. I just haven't been on YT 😅. I been on that Marvel vs Capcom Collection and Katana Zero. I've been traveling a lot, so I had my Switch on deck. I thought about taking my Portal with me too, but keep deciding against just in case it doesn't work on all the different hotels' wifi
It's so many games to experience it's wild! I been thinking of getting a switch but still on the fence I miss those Nintendo 64 type of games! and to play them on the go sound dope. The portal keep surprising me everyday🫡🔥🎮
This is legit. I have a data line with Tmobile & have a 100 GB high-speed data. If I connect my portal directly to the Hotspot it keeps disconnecting. With the travel router tethered to the Hotspot, it keeps the connection stable but I'm not getting the choppiness you get tho. When I test the speeds when it's tethered, I'm getting the same 150 down & around 100 up if my portal is connected directly to the Hotspot. I can game anywhere with this thing!
@@danieleesposito3018 I think people are just doing random things that don't help... I've heard a lot of nonsense online. If anything, adding another point in the connection (another router or extender) will only increase latency.
@lukastemberger I play using mobile hotspot. It's fine overall but I have a costant micro stuttering. Would this modem solve this issue by enanching the outgoing mobile hotspot?
@@danieleesposito3018 I think what you might be misunderstanding is that the hotspot that you have in your phone while yes you can do this, the signal strength that the portable router is going to give you with cell signal coverage i.e. its antennas ability to receive that cell phone signal and push that signal out as far greater than what your cell phone can do. That’s the only reason you want to use this.
@@Stev-mi2fdThe router doesn’t even have a LTE/5G modem to receive any kind of phone signal. The antennas are for WiFi use only makes it’s have broader range than the phones WiFi range.
I got the Asus rog ally. Just hook up to my mobile hotspot and I'm good to go. Play call of duty online no lag. Also have 75,000 mah power bank can charge it 8 times so play all day.
Question, I just bought one but I haven’t been home for about 27 days due to my job being away all the time. Do I have to connect it to my ps first before I can use it where I’m at? Or is there a way to connect without having to be in person to my ps?
As long as remote play is enabled and your PS5 is in rest mode, you won't need it for setup. Now if there’s network connection issues it might not work so it’s 50/50. I recommend doing it on the same network but give it a try! 🫡🔥🎮 hope this helps.
Mine would only work when I set it up with my ps5 first. After that as long as I leave my ps5 in rest mode I can connect from anywhere that has strong WiFi.
hey, I wanted to ask, after setting up the first initial time did you have issues? i’m having issues reconnecting. When I first got it, it worked great the first time now I’m constantly having to reset the device and go through the set up and even after I go to the set up, it’s not detecting my phone most of the time.
Nope I have a video of the setup process. Now I do believe that the new iOS 18 update hindered the connection process 🧐 I’ll do some testing within the next few days to see what’s going on! Thanks for bringing this up Brooklyn 😁
@@TechMarkGaming yeah I actually used your video to set it up. I just don’t know whats going on it worked great the first day or 2 now i dont know if maybe I got a bad router because it’s just not connecting.

U think it was choppy because the router isnt wifi 6 or because the traffic or because of their internet only being 9mbps which is the cheapest internet money can buy ? Im asking because i was thinking about buying a wifi 6 version of this for 75 bucks. Please let me know. Leaving to NY soon..... i may get the ps5 pro but not at launch because ill be in NY at launch and dont really have time to play a console while being there but a portal i can manage in my time
In my previous video it's wasn't choppy at all! It's definitely the area I'm in! But I'm sure the wifi 6 version performs slightly better than this one! For my use case this definitely does the job! Have fun in new york 🫡🎮🔥
@@TechMarkGaming imma cop this one then if u think the wifi 6 wont really be that much of a difference. Yea im headed there for work.. its that time of the year again 🙏💪
@@rubenmeza2690 the portal? Its good. Not perfect but good enough to enjoy all your triple A games that isnt multiplayer away from home or anywhere that isnt your tv.
I think we are moving a step in the right direction as far as true mobile gaming. PlayStation is most likely testing the waters with the Portal. In my previous video the hotspot ran smoother than this. I’m guessing it’s location based as well. Thanks for your comment 🫡🔥🎮
I agree. It’s because the internet speeds I had (7mbps) 😭 I completed another stage of astrobot using the router without getting kicked offline which is surprising.. thanks for the comment 🫡🔥🎮

I like honesty. This is good information. I've used public Wi-Fi to an old LG G8x phone, then Hotspot it to the Portal. Not capable on my new phones.
Oooyy my guy 💪🏿💪🏿 keep dropping that fire and all portal players are awesome 🫡😎🔥🔥🔥🔥
Preciate you Jonny! Great time to be a gamer🫡🔥🎮

I’ve been doing this for months while I’m OTR using my mobile hotspot box. If my signal is strong it’s flawless.

You have to tether your phone to the router and use your mobile data for best connection
