Goddamn, that stem-out sound just puts me on cloud nine. I love that nighttime-in-new-york smooth jazz sound. The Jo Ral really delivers

You have absolutely got to tell us about the bands you've been in. Because, their isn't a way in hell someone with this level of raw skill hasn't made music, and a lot of it.

Hello Mr. Spelman, I only recently started practicing trumpet and I really appreciate your videos. I hope you keep making them and I hope your channel gets the traction it deserves.

Thank you just saw/heard of a bubble mute while I was looking for the classic Harmon brand mute. Probably gonna go with the bubble I found. But it’s plastic so not sure how it’ll sound but I’m excited

Love the Jo Ral copper, but it's so heavy it won't stay in the bell for me. I got a Trumcor Stinger and it's working really well for me. Nice videos!

Thanks, Erik! I've heard great things about the Trumcor, especially how well they project, though I haven't picked one up yet. Jo Ral copper's definitely a heavy one, but I've always liked the sound.

Dampen the cork with water. It'll stay in better.

I have a jo-ral copper bubble . It sounds great when on my own but I feel the need to over blow when I play in a big band. With zero empirical data I would love get a Harmon brand harmon. My sense is that the harmon would cut better as you suspect

So, I'm looking for something for the neighbor kid. One that would sound like the jazz guys, but also to let him practice outside and not bother the neighbors. I'm curious what the straight, white and red cardboard ones sound like. Thanks

Try the Soulo harmon. It plays a clean low G.

That’s a Soulo gen 2 the gen 1 is I little squirrelly down there but they both sound awesome trumcore makes a Harmon that slots very good down low but the Soulo has that sound. Trumcore cuts a little more.

Can I find a Harmon style mute for flugelhorn? I have a Joral bubble style for flugelhorn but cannot find a Harmon stlye for flugelhorn. I have an old clip from the seventies of Art Farmer playing a Harmon style mute in his flugelhorn.

Look into a Joe Ral large, it fits a flugelhorn nicely

The sheer disrespect to the stem in harmon/bubble is astonishing
Ive only been called to use a harmon twice, one with stem out at honor band, and the other stem in for a musical. And stem in just sounds way better
