Homie, we are all doing this our own way & technically there's really no right way to do it. However, 1st and most importantly - if it makes you feel bad, it's wrong for you. You can't be torturing yourself like this when you were enjoying yourself before. 2nd, other areas and groups on social media may not notice or care, but the Knife & EDC Community is a very honest community, and there are some who buying subs will rub the wrong way. Your family to me and I've got your back however you choose to grow, but appreciate the honesty.
One thing that I decided very early in my content creating journey (all of 5 months 😂) was that I wouldn't judge my Channel against others nor worry about their growth. WaC took OFF, and I'm so happy for and proud of the kid. He has twice my subs and I think that's awesome for him. I make content because I like to, and because I love interacting with this Community. My EDC Familia has shown me a lot of support, and I am content to grow at whatever pace comes BECAUSE I already have such an amazing group of people - including you, my friend - who are always there for me. I judge no Channel on their own approach. I just know that milestones are exciting (& still surprising to me), but relationships allow me to not stress sub counts. love the transparency here. To each their own though. Everyone can manage their channel as they see fit, but i will never buy my subs. I don't believe in creating content for bots. Buying subs does not upset me but I do think it's a cop out. People cry about not growing but never stop to think that their content may not be that good. They like to play victim and blame it on the platform or algorithm. Just my two cents.
Id like to think that organic growth over a period of time where you are engaging with real people would be much more rewarding in the long run. I also wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people who have success on RUclips paid for a boost in some way or another.

Right, I guess since everyone has the opportunity to use it, there is no telling who used it or not. In most cases. So even if I don't agree with the game they are posing, where you pay to win, it's 100% in line with the rules of capitalism.
One way to figure it out is did your view count go up with the sub count? If not, then they're bots which do you no good other than push you over the minimum needed subs to monetize. Earnings go with views so it won't raise earnings, just get you to that monetization point sooner.
End of the day its your channel. I say if youre buying subs, be honest about it with the audience. However RUclips algorithms whill notice jumps in subs, but will notice average view counts stay down, and will eventually stop presenting your content to new people. Also if you feel icky, dont do it. In the beginning, you will get some subs, but long term, your channel will be dead. Natural growth = more views, and more loyal viewers and a growing community. Not a huge auditorium with 2 people in it.
