I actually came up with the cqc strat at 1:46. It's nice to see it used in the WR run. I tried it as I found it easier than the knife cancel. They were good times back in the very early speed runs of this game. It's what drove me to do the BBE run wearing the tuxedo.

Not sure if you still need the answer, but as the Ray lands it takes a lot of damage, you can do the same method with the laser...as soon as it lands, nuke the bastard. Or follow the video, quicker
