I really like that you explain your thoughts on the warp glitch and why it might be occurring. It will be interesting to see how this speed-run evolves with decisions from mods and future patches.
It reminds me of Saints Row 4 where it seemed impossible to escape the mother ship, until I saw a hint that for some fucking reason, game time was tied to frames. What you needed was consistency. If you dropped from 60 to 50 then the door would close and you'd die. The answer was to downgrade resolution so that it would run 60 the entire scene. Ironically, some of the worst ER performance is on $1k cards, so elite gamers are having a mental block pinpointing it.
It won't evolve at all atm. They are already staying on a previous patch instead of trying to find another way which makes this speedrun way less impressive. It's mostly just fast menu clicks, Sekiro runs were way more fun to watch.

@@hookedonphones1681 wrong, some bugs might be banned from the official leaderboards, even in any%. Zip-Glitch might be one of them, since it seems to be dependent on Hardware.
The way you explain the zip glitch and it feeling like an inconsistent timing issue makes lot of sense actually, I've noticed when I am spam casting glintstone spells that occasionally I will have a spell or two feel faster and then one cast will have a brief hiccup happen (best way I can explain it) and the current cast completes abruptly and I go into the next cast. It's as if something in the background of the game is keeping the timing (like you mention), but instead of a consistent whole number there is a few decimals of time being added until it overflows and then time suddenly gets reset back to the base amount, likely from some built in safeguard time reset to prevent it from constantly faster forever.
What I have is a great stuttering. The game feels great, but suddenly, it gets to 5 fake fps for about a sencond (fake because the game is still runing at its normal pace) and then, suddenly, the game shows all the frames at high speed up to the actual frame, and consistently it does three times in a row, with about 10 seconds between each time. And after that, I can be playing half an hour or an hour without anymore stuttering.

I spent a solid hour clearing Volcano Manner this afternoon and he rips through it in under 5 minutes. I"m officially terrible :) Also, that was pretty dope to watch
Danm, you and distortion are just neck and neck with each other on this.
That was the coolest thing when you skipped godskin duo with fkin STYLE! So unique and satisfying. GG man.
This game took me 50 hour but you did it in only 24 minutes?! Oh god!
Better than distortion also better commentary.
13:25 Yeah when I first saw footage of the zip I figured with time people would just route zips and skip most the actual gameplay. Now knowing about how it works a little more I can see why it trivializes the category and I gotta agree.
"Lemme get this WR and have the mods ban anyone from trying to get a better record than me." Is all I heard this entire video... please correct me if I'm wrong... but why would you get to decide what is recordable and what is not?
I have no idea what he‘s doin‘ , but holy smokes , that was fast!
Totally blown away! Awesome 😎
When I look at those tables on top right corner, I think that Elden Ring is the new Gran Turismo 7
earlier in the video: "speedrunning to me is just about people being really fking good at the game.".
later: 19:00
:P
is warrior the best choice for characters or something
Gratz! ♥
Somehow I thought that would be way more interesting to watch than it was. The boss fight was something else though. That was impressive. I have no idea how you killed the 1st phase without taking damage. I thought you’d do the glitch where you just roll up next to him and take him out while he just stands there. Also no idea how you got the 2nd phase to sit in place?! Crazy.
When doing speed runs like this. And they patch something like dmg of skills, or you can't take the same route anymore. Or the make fall dmg changes so u can jump for heights. Will this still be a legit speed run or will the time be taken away?
Nice work love watching these and now the time has been set, hope to see you beat this time and compete later on
Weird man, we almost have the same name 😂 mines just Jake Hale
congratz on the amazing string of records recently man!
Can anyone explain me what happens between 10:10 and 10:35?
I need to get there to get the sombstones 3 and 4
How do you zip in crumbling farum azula to bridge for boss fight? I'm on console so guess cant zip? I'm on journey 3 and would like to save time here
Literally just watched your 25.13! You’re insane!
Can you lock the max framerate for this game and if you don't does it make the glitch predictable and doable?
The hardware lottery is real. I'm running a 1060 and was planning to upgrade if I couldn't run Elden, but I'm getting better framerate than a lot of people with much more powerful hardware. It's so bizarre
Speaking of hardware dependent glitches, in areas that take a heavy load on my computer enemies will literally be invisible, in the Siofra underground area all those enemies are invisible for me, it's like I get to do a semi-blindfold run in those places.
On mine if I dont play on lowest res, its all the enemies 😂😂😂
What's your gpu and cpu?
@@TheWorstshoe i have the lenovo legion 5 with the 3060 and ryzen 5600u? I believe but i only have 8gb ram
ok but like 23:32 Who decides to do that? and why? How does one stumble upon that...wtf were they doing...
You can totally shave off another few milliseconds at 21:06 with that stutter step. Really though, you are awesome
im interested in that full farum azula unlock trick, because I want to have a ng+ where I have all the map unlocked without activate the forge: somebody have a guide to perform that? And know if do it trigger ANYWAY the red tree?
So can you not save quit for elevators? Bc ik if u call an elevator and save quit it will be either up or down from where it was so when u ride it coudnt u save time?
Nicely done, man
When did Dennis Reynolds start doing speed runs??
Can someone please help me In understanding how the hell the frost stomp does that much damage, cuz I’ve been trying to copy it in my game yet it only does like 300 damage
it was nerfed in a recent patch, this was when it was crazy op
Congrats!
As with any speedrun i've ever seen of any game, I'm gonna pretend like I understood at least a little bit of what was going on, when in actual fact, I did not.
Congratulations, well done !!
Can't wait for the summoning salt video
I know you probably know, but on radagon if you run to his left side as soon as you spawn in, he won’t move at all. Unless they fixed that this last patch but I don’t think they did.
watching this just to see the current wr when I have been completely in the dark for the speedrunning situation in this game because I hadn't beat it yet...25 minute long TED talk about the philosophy of speedrunning xD
