Bats, such amazing mammals, demonized by the movies and horror movies, exceptionally sweet mothers to their pups, great pollinators feeding on nectar and fruit. The bats wings have the same bone structure as the human arm and fingers, a humerus, radius, carpals, metacarpals, phalanges, with solid bones, again like human bones, versus bird bones which are hollow. A bat on the group is not necessarily sick, bats cannot fly from the ground, they must 'drop' into flight. Every bat expert I have spoken with notes that bats are not aggressive on reacting when grabbed, as any animal does. Wonderful animals, it is always worth while to help a bat by learning more and helping out when possible. In hard food times I have a friend living where they are bats and she puts out cut fruit for the bats high up safe from dogs and cats.
