Street Fighter 2 World Warrior [SNES] Boss version - M.Bison playthrough

  • This is an alternate version of the SNES game Street Fighter II: The World Warrior which allows the player to select and control the 4 bosses (Balrog, Vega, Sagat and M.Bison). Read on for more information below:
    In this video, I've casually played through the game with M.Bison on Difficulty Level 7 as a demonstration. Obviously, his basic moves are very overpowered, and all of them are Heavy hits, no matter which strength punches or kicks you use. He also has two special moves - the Psycho Crusher and the Head Stomp, performed via the usual charging methods.
    Below are various information about the character in the game, read on:
    ---- Unlike the CPU version, he does not wear and remove his cape before the fight starts.
    ---- He has a jumping punch that can hit twice. The CPU M.Bison never uses this.
    ---- He has a standing stomach punch (HP while standing). The CPU M.Bison never uses this.
    ---- His punch fist aura/flames are a flawed colour. If you use the Psycho Crusher, the punch fist aura/flames change into a different flawed colour.
    ---- All 3 strengths of his Psycho Crusher travel the same short distance. The only difference between them is the speed of travel.
    ---- After he hits with the Head Stomp, he has two outcomes. The first familiar outcome is he flips back and launches a swan dive punch; the second outcome is he flips to the other side of the opponent, lands on the ground and performs a straight kick. World Warrior is the ONLY version of SF2 where he has the second outcome. You can see this at 0:57 in the video.
    ---- If his Head Stomp is blocked, he will either jump back off or jump off forward behind. It depends where the opponent is. Also interestingly, the CPU M.Bison in SF2CE, SF2HF, SSF2 and SSF2T is able to do this, BUT the player version is NEVER able to.
    ---- He doesn't have the proper moving Scissor Kick. In SF2:WW, this isn't a Special Move, and it was supposed to be done by just pressing HK while standing. Instead it is a 'still' version, as it just shows a static animation of the Scissor Kick and returns to his stance. It DOES hit the opponent if it connects though. You can see this used in the bonus rounds.
    ---- He doesn't have the Slide Kick Sweep. This is supposed be done by pressing LK while standing, but it just shows a quick animation of the slide and returns to his stance. It DOES hit and knock over the opponent if it connects though. You can see this used in the bonus rounds.
    ---- Sometimes when he performs the Head Stomp against some of the other bosses, he flies up off the screen at the top, and takes about 5 seconds to come back down.
    ---- In the VS Handicap and Stage Select screen, notice how every character's name at the top is 'RYU'. This was done to stop the game locking if you went into that screen with a boss character.
    ---- In a 2-Player game, if you win a round with him you will get the '1PLAYER WINS' message instead of his name.
    ---- In the Win-Loss records screen after a match in V.S. Mode, his wins/losses are recorded on Ryu's name. If you win with him it will record it as a Loss, and if you lose with him it will record it as a Draw.
    ---- In the V.S. Mode character select screen when M.Bison is highlighted, he already has a number of Special Knockouts in the stats below.
    ---- In 1-Player arcade mode, if you lose a match with him he does NOT have a 'lose' portrait on the winning/losing screen. This is because he is originally the last opponent you face before the player character's ending. Also interestingly, in the Arcade version of World Warrior M.Bison DID have a 'lose' portrait...
    ---- In 1-Player arcade mode, if you lose with him and end up on the Continue countdown screen, pressing START to continue will produce some strange flawed voices or sounds. It varies and the sound you get is dependent on which voiced was used by the opponent he was fighting and lost to.
    ---- Obviously as the bosses were never meant to be playable, their 'endings' are flawed, with Ryu's ending music playing. It doesn't lock the game though. You can see this near the end of the video.
    ---- After he lands his Head Stomp, you do not have control of his two outcomes afterwards, unlike in every other Street Fighter game.
    ---- On the Character Select screen map, the flying plane has been removed. Instead it just skips straight to the next opponent. This was obviously done because the bosses had no proper flight plan (lol) programmed in, they would originally 'fly' to "out-of-bounds" areas which would end up locking the game.

      @DSD Movies Why didn't the Sega Genesis have their own version of Street Fighter II: World Warrior? Genesis came out in the late 1980s, and SNES didn't come out until late 1990, although World Warrior was a '90-'91 game season and the very first SFII based game.
      Yet Sega Genesis only did Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition ('91-'92 game with both the Special Champion Edition and the Hyper Fighting ports) along with a beta version of what was supposed to be Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition (as a standalone game dubbed Street Fighter II Turbo), and the final release would've been Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting as a standalone game also.

      @Filipo probably due with the licensing deals Capcom had with Nintendo at the time. Very few Capcom games made it to other consoles until about the mid 90s after Nintendo got in legal trouble for the ruthless exclusivity policies it pushed on 3rd party developers.

    Krizalid99v2, now that I understand what you mean by 'After he lands his Head Stomp, you do not have control of his two outcomes afterwards, unlike in every other Street Fighter game.'
    I think the reason for this (of course, that the bosses still, by this point, weren't intended as playable) is also why, when Vega climbs the fence in his own stage, the player doesn't have control of if he hits his opponent with his claw, and he does it automatically.
    Also, the way you can't do the bosses' moves (like, if you're Balrog, you can't do the moves he does when you face him in single player mode, etc.) could also be to do with how they're not yet fully intended as playable characters, and that this game is a mere hack, where fans put the bosses into the game, rather than Capcom themselves.

    I think this is why Bison is my favorite character, it anoyed me so much back in the day by not being allowed to play as him. I always thought the graphics of the character select etc of the old game looked better then the following SFII Turbo etc. Nice find... Would like to get hold of this hack if you don't mind sharing :o)

    Krizaldid99v2, something new I thought of today - as M Bison wasn't fully intended to be a playable character, his 'defeated portrait' doesn't show him with blood (even though the other three are shown that way, since M Bison was the final boss).

  • @N64Mario
    @N64Mario 11 лет назад +1

    To be honest, I really wish there was more work done on this hack. At least to a point where M.Bison's flashing punches aren't glitched colors. The CPU M.Bison's punches are not glitched, so why are the players like this? I feel like while this was a nice hack, it feels a bit incomplete. I know ending sequences aren't possible, and flight plan sequences can't be done correctly, but at least fix the other errors .

  • @shermanvermin76
    @shermanvermin76 10 лет назад

    Krizaldid99v2, can you please explain what this (said in the video's description) means:
    After he lands his Head Stomp, you do not have control of his two outcomes afterwards, unlike in every other Street Fighter game.
    I tried the Head Stomp, and I could still do the swan dive punch.

  • @N64Mario
    @N64Mario 11 лет назад

    Interestingly enough, in the later games like SFII Turbo and SSF2 on the SNES, MBison didn't need the cape intro to activate the corrected flashing punches. I guess those codes can't be applied to the hack in some way so the player doesn't have to worry about using codes to fix a glitch? Though I guess for whatever it's worth, it's not necessary.
    Also, some of the bosses regular attacks are odd. Not sure if intentional or not. Ex. Balrog & Sagat doing wrong attacks when the player is standing.

  • @N64Mario
    @N64Mario 11 лет назад

    Another error that could be fixed (if possible) is M.Bisons Scissor Kick and trip sliding attack. His scissor kick is stationary when it's supposed to move forward. His slide ends too early, and is also stationary. Even in a hack, I think these should be corrected somehow. Not sure about the SNES limitations, but a CPS1 hack of SFII World Warrior does not have these problems.

  • @shermanvermin76
    @shermanvermin76 10 лет назад

    Message to MrJohnnyOTGS: it says in the description why (not just M Bison, all four of the bosses - including Balrog, Vega and Sagat - the other three) the bosses have glitched 'endings', with Ryu's ending music playing, regardless of what difficulty you beat the game on. It's because the four bosses still weren't yet intended as playable characters by this stage, and this is merely a Hack, where the ability to play the four bosses is a mere glitch.

  • @shermanvermin76
    @shermanvermin76 10 лет назад

    Oh and, regarding Vega's sound effects when he wins, I'd say, him making glitched sound effects, rather than that effeminate one, are also to stop the game crashing if he did well in either of the Bonus Stages.

  • @shermanvermin76
    @shermanvermin76 10 лет назад

    Another thing for Krizalid99v2 to know - you can't bypass the bosses (three of them - Balrog, Vega and Sagat) by pressing start on the opponent's controller; doing so will keep you stuck on them until you beat the computer-controlled versions of them. Needless to say, this is to do with how they're not intended as fully human playable characters (even though this applies to all four of them including M Bison).

  • @shermanvermin76
    @shermanvermin76 10 лет назад

    Krizalid99v2, another thing I just rememberd just now - if you never press start, and it goes into 'Demo Mode', it still only shows the profiles and demos of the original eight fighters, and never of the bosses. Needless to say, this is to do with how the bosses still weren't yet intended to be playable and, whenever it was about to show the players the four bosses, the game would merely crash.

    Krizalid99v2, you didn't include things in the description like:
    Whenever Vega wins, he makes glitched sound effects, rather than that effeminate one. Possibly this was to stop the game crashing if he won a round, since he's not intended to be a playable character.

    (still in response to Krizalid99v2) [four things up to now, that you didn't put onto the video description]
    In the screen with the countdown (seen in single player mode, if you lose) [the 'Continue' screen, by name], the bosses make glitched sound effects when you press Start. Again, possibly because the bosses aren't supposed to be selectable, this was to stop the game crashing when you pressed Start.

  • @shermanvermin76
    @shermanvermin76 10 лет назад

    I'm still talking to the uploader of this video - Krizalid99v2 - even if you play single player mode as any of the original eight fighters - the game freezes forever when their endings are supposed to play. This is part of how the uploader said in the description, that the bosses' 'endings' are glitched, with Ryu's ending music playing, 'obviously as they were never meant to be playable'.
    I know this too is something the uploader didn't include in the video's description.

    (comment continued) [this is still to Krizalid99v2]
    Whenever the bosses win 2 player rounds, the screen says '1 PLAYER WINS' or '2 PLAYER WINS', rather than their actual names. Again, this could probably be to stop the game crashing if they won, since they're not intended as playable.

    In the 'Win-Loss Records' screen in the 2 player mode, the screen still doesn't say the bosses' names, and only the original eight fighters' (Ryu, E Honda, Blanka, Guile, Ken, Chun Li, Zangief and Dhalsim). Of course, this is because they're not intended as playable fighters.
