- Sky News host Rita Panahi discusses two Olympic athletes with male chromosomes competing in the female boxing event.
"It is unfair for the women to have to take action and miss out on events to have some sort of meaningful change to have sort of security that this isn't going to happen again and again," Ms Panahi said.
"You don't just go to the Olympics you start training as a child.
"In many instances, it's years of grind and sacrifice, and to have your place taken by a man or to have to boycott an event because a man is competing.
"It's not very fair on the women."
Any sane person would call this assault and battery, not sports.

It is not a man claiming to be a woman, it is a woman, borned as a woman with woman genitals but she also has the y cromozon. I don't know if that it would be right either, we will have a boxer with female genitals competing against a boxer with male genitals. Somehow it will be the same, diferent sex type competing against each other. I don't know what the solution would be here. It seams unfair both ways. and I don't think there are enough female with the y cromozon in boxing to make a separate competition just for them. And to ban them for competing looks like discrimination, is not there choice or fault that they are womwn that borned with the y cromozon too.

With all due respect, I’m just as mad as the women for going in the ring, as I am with the OIC. No woman should have stepped in the ring with that male body. What did she think would happen? I disagree IOC made a statement that they have checked and the contestants should trust the. Well she Angela C trusted them until she felt the puches and the knew she was gaslit (?). This is on IOC they should be greatful she stepped back for her safety it possibly saved the from a law suit for negligence and endangerment for contestants saftey. Sadly, women have been lied to that they are the same or better than men. This is obviously NOT true, and some ladies only find out the hard way. I saw one lady get a beating from one of these guys and she looked like she wanted to cry with bruises all over her face, he on the other hand looked VERY happy as he beat her.

Boxing does not belong in the Olympics. That said, I wish the women would band together and refuse to box them.

Actually boxing always been in the Olympics from the first ancient games which was mainly about contact sports, not so much on the gymnastics, basketball, football, skateboarding, bike riding, sailing, kayaking, etc., which are sports that truly don't belong in Olympics if it's history is taken into account. And instead we could reintroduce some of it's more historical and traditional sports, aside from boxing, there was bear wrestling, fighting off wolves, lions, tigers, and bears, oh my!!! There was no diving or synchronised swimming, or even water polo, there was no horse riding just for speed, if you were on a horse you were probably armed with bow and arrow aiming at targets, clearly there was no shooting in ancient games, no guns, but if they had had them, I am sure they would have used them but not at paper targets or clay pigeons but ferocious beasts that they were pitted against.

The title is misleading. There’s no such as a “male chromosome”. A whole human being can be male, and necessary condition of being a human male is having a functioning Y chromosome. But a defective Y chromosome means the fetus can develop in ways typical of a female with two X chromosomes. Regardless of how you categorize various intersex conditions, where reasonable people can disagree - as a matter of scientific fact, there is no such thing as a ‘male chromosome’. Chromosomes aren’t sexed; whole organisms are sexed.
With all its privilege, the United States should step down and let the marginalized countries compete.

Apparently the “man?” is a “woman?” with Swyer Syndrome or XY Female.
It’s confusing because these individuals are genetically male due to XY sex chromosomes, but are specifically BORN with a vagina, uterus, & fallopian tubes, but NOT ovaries. They instead have what are called “gonadal streaks”. Because of lacking ovaries, they are infertile & will NOT go through puberty without estrogen/progesterone replacement.
Typically these individuals are considered women that are genetically male. It’s all very confusing

I am finding there to be uncertainty on her chromosome status - XX or XY?
A similar question was raised a few years back with Caste Semenya from South Africa. She was also a female, but very elevated testosterone levels.
It turns out that she has a benign tumour that is responsible for this.
Is she an XX chromosome - yes.
Does she have an unnatural advantage? No, the tumour has naturally occurred.
Does she have an unfair advantage... I think she did, but that's my subjective opinion.
My view is that it is an XX and XY test. For certain contact sports, maybe you need to consider levels of testosterone for safety reasons, but if it's a naturally occurring phenomenon, then let her compete.
If she is a he, then throw him out.
