    What's your go-to starting word? 👀

  • @davidalearmonth
    @davidalearmonth 4 years ago +203

    I like to play it safe and start every day with the word Entry, typically followed by Audio to get all the vowels. I find that starting with Entry gets me that occasional critical letter y and tells me whether it's at the end of the word or not which is really important. After that if I'm searching for more consonants I will often go with champ, chimp, chomp, or chump, depending on which vowel I have in the word. Or maybe Flesh for the letter e.

    • @davidalearmonth
      @davidalearmonth 4 years ago +2

      @WhoIsKrystal Sometimes I like to use these 4 words: Glide, Frost, Nymph, Quack

    • @woodedlane
      @woodedlane 3 years ago +6

      interesting - I like entry - I use 'poise' and 'laugh' and then 'forty' if needed. Audio is another good one I never considered. I got today's in 4 tries - all letters right from the beginning. Nice when that happens - rare for me.

      btw...

      I think leaving the "n" that late would make me anxious. 😅

      Your comment got my attention because you’re absolutely correct. It’s not guessing, it’s a method. Adieu and Story cover all the vowels and then it’s a matter of figuring it out. I do it everyday and try to come up with entertaining video clues ruclips.net/user/shorts9hm2kPr3F-4?si=7apa_mGZG3bwXRo4

    I thought I was something special with a 3.74 average, but then found out that Sweden is the world leader with an average of 3.71. (The US trails far behind with 3.9 something). So I started to focus and got it down to 3.59. My goal is to get to 3.5. Love this game. I used to start with Heart but then discovered that WordleBot solves most quickly using the starting word Crane. So I switched.

    Fun video! I love Wordle. I do it every morning to wake up my brain and my sister and a friend and I share how many guesses and then after that we share our words. The one that stumped me the most was a word with NO VOWELS! That really threw me! I think of words usually having vowels. But now I know better! Oh and I always start Wordle with a different word every day. Using the same one would be too boring to me. lol!

    I have more 4 guess finishes than all other rankings combined. I got there by using my first three guesses to use as many consonants as possible. once you've cleared the board of those, there are generally simple rules you can follow to figure out which vowel and where it goes. getting the vowels first is novice at best... because every word has vowels. It's the instantly known factor.

  • @04adventures

    This game is basically like Mastermind but with words.

    • @MrEdwardCollins
      @MrEdwardCollins 3 years ago +1

      Basically, yes. But Mastermind is much more difficult and thus, to me it's more fun.
      With Mastermind, you're also told when you got a colored peg exactly right, and when you got a colored-peg in the wrong position... _but you're not told which peg it is!_ That's for you to figure out for yourself! Wordle, of course, tells you exactly which letters you have exactly right, and which letters you have right but in the wrong position. This takes away much of the logical deductions you would normally have to make.
      Of course, if Wordle did that, the game wouldn't NEARLY be as popular as it is. Most people don't want to think that much.
