Kampot pepper is very expensive. Some restaurants in France don’t use any pepper other than kampot pepper. Kampot pepper has 3 kinds (black, white and red). Red is the most expensive of the three. Kampot pepper farmers are not allow to use chemical fertilizer. In Vietnam, they concentrate on quantity, on the other hand kampot farmers concentrate on quality.

Kampot Pepper isn’t very expensive. Even, Cambodian also can buy and use it for their cooking including me.

@@sunlyheang4337 I was there at the place call "la plantation", this place is a lot bigger. ruclips.net/video/rK4mKCtGZ5k/видео.html . Of course everyone can afford it. What I meant is that it's more expensive than a regular pepper. Let say it costs $10 for a small pack compare to $2 for other pepper. You have to be careful when you buy the real Kampot pepper. Sometime they label Kampot pepper, but it’s not organic. I was there in Cambodia and I saw cheap Kampot pepper.

@@sunlyheang4337 I think he means expensive outside of Cambodia. Khmer farmers sells it for very cheap, but foreign companies then packages and resells it at an inflated price. I looked up Kampot pepper on a French website and 250 gram of black peppercorn is 19 euros which is approximately $20 USD. Another French website sells 50 gram for 7.50 euros. While it's one of the most, if not the most expensive peppercorn in the world, Khmers aren't the ones getting rich from it. Something to think about and nothing for Khmer to rejoice in.

Not gonna lie but I really impressed by the farm owner’s commitment and resilience even through the tough time. 70% loss of outputs and profits, he’s still managed to survive and fighting in a foreign country where it’s really hard to communicate and adapt yourself into. Wishing you all the best and hopefully you will be the largest pepper supplier in Cambodia. 🇰🇭🤝🇸🇬

Singaporean retiree should consider move to Cambodia to do farming then sell it back to Singapore. You have money, market network, fast learning, searching skills and even techniqe support from researcher, lab in Singapore. The only thing you dont have in Singapore is land. Many Japanese arrived in central highland Vietnam to do farming as well. This documentary surely inspiring other Singaporean.

It is so maddening to hear how the workers neglected the farm and yet still remain employed. He's better off seeking Khmer workers in other provinces. There are Khmer going overseas to other countries in Asia for farm work and finding that they don't have much money left to send home after paying for their cost of living. If there's a way to assist with housing in the area, I think he may have better luck in finding dedicated workers outside of Kampot.

Wow the farm is already running for 5 yrs and producing tons of pepper a year before pandemic the plants should be well established and no care needed but occasional removing grasa and tieing up loose and grown vine, for this vine to die means it was destroyed by people. Since the owner is not there i assume they loot the farm, i cant call it harvest because its not their crops and they maintain like tieing the vine. Letting the vine loose and crawling in soil it will rot during wet season. It has to climb to avoid rotting. The care taker likely the suspect
