Cher singing Abba is something I didn't even know I wanted my entire life until this movie. Listening to it feels like Christmas and my birthday and Easter and all things good and rainbow and unicorn rolled into one.

Contraltos have long singing careers 😎. Some women are deathly afraid of "the change" because it may alter the voice negatively like losing high notes and bright tone, but for women with low voices, well they've already been through that pretty early on in their lives. Alto voices age like a fine wine. They get better with age! Will deepen and darken into a very unique and characteristic timbre. Another mature and deep contralto to check out is Ms Nathalie Stutzman who sings opera. Whereas dramatic contralto Ewa Podles sounds convincingly like a tenor at times.

Cher makes this beautiful song sound as though it were written for her. She is superb here. I wonder if most people know the song is about the war between Mexico and Texas; 2 friends, now aged, looking back at their youth and the folly and terrible loss that are byproducts of war. The chorus is uplifting, whereas the verse aches with loss.
The song relates to the 1910 Mexican Revolution.
That gives a whole new meaning to the "If I had to do the same again, I would my friend, Fernando" line. Essentially Texas or Mexico is telling the other "I love you but if you pull that shit again I stg-"

I have adored Cher since 1971 when I was 13 and the Sonny & Cher TV show was on. Now at 71, she is singing better than ever. Her voice is rich, passionate, and deep. I hope (and suspect) we have many more years of Cher to treasure. She does a magnificent job on this song. I'd give the world to meet her and thank her for being such a fervent supporter of LGBTG rights, but I'm disabled now after a spinal injury, and unable to make the trip to see her perform. I remember when I was a senior in High School in 1976, telling friends CHER would one day blow us all out of the water with her talent and humanity. I was ridiculed over and over and over. I could see then gleam in her eye; she was really just biding her time until she could make the right opportunity come along. And through the whole time, it makes me so happy that she never once turned her back on her gay fans; we knew here TV shows were just the tiniest suggestion of what was waiting underneath to be turned loose on the world. I knew it then; her first album without any influence from Sonny Bono was 1975's STARS - and she jumped light years ahead of anything prior. The whole album is on you tube- give it a listen ASAP . And here we are now - Starring in her 2ND film with MERYL STREEP!! How many of us can even THINK of saying "My 2nd film with Meryl Streep" God bless them both.

I saw this movie during the week, I had never even watched the first one but something compelled me to go. So I went, me sitting in the middle of grannies and kids alike. Thought id hate it but........I loved it and this song.........this was the song I liked the most. The lead into it, with Andy Garcia screaming "RUBY!!!!!" Was hilarious. Absolute Gold.

Beautifully sung. Most of Cher's songs are quite low in the voice and sometimes quite raunchy. It's great to hear her sing in her higher voice and very light and soft. Love it.
