The lyric about Japanese is はい (hai = yes in Japanese) but I do think the meaning is what you said, western ppl tend to think that every Asian person is Japanese or “the same” so yeah.

The Japanese line has so many layers - 1) She does indeed speak Japanese and it’s a continuiation of her “every city I go is my city” line showing off her global appeal. 2) There is a very famous Japanese singer called Lisa and western publications have mixed them up a lot, once even crediting her on the Billboard charts instead of Lisa lol and 3) Western people will say all Asians look alike, they will mostly ask if you are Japanese or Chinese as if those two ethnicities are the only ones in Asia. This is re-inforced by the visuals of identical women and her doing the Thai greeting right at that moment.
The music video also features many Thai subcultures, which also happen to be mostly looked down on by conservative Koreans, such as the trans women and drag queens she featured - Thailand recently legalized same sex marriage while in Korea LGBTQ is still not widely accepted - and the tattooed up motorcycle gang. Everyone also has tan skin. Lisa herself has been criticized for her tanned skin and tattoos by k-netz.
“Been MIA, BKK pretty” also has a double meaning - both the shortened versions of Miami Airport and Bangkok Airport, alluding to her globalness again AND also to the fact that she was withheld from traveling to her beautiful home country Bangkok for almost three years by her previous Korean label YG, causing her to be MIA. Now she is back, choosing to film her music video there, showcasing the beauty of BKK, in its full glory with the marginalized people. MV director said in behind the scenes video representation was the main goal. The specific location is Chinatown of Bangkok, also furthering how she is a global star by featuring yet another Asian country indirectly.
Lisa co-wrote and co-composed this song btw, she is officially credited for both. Fun fact: She sampled Tame Impala in the outro and she is friends with Kevin Parker :)

Great reaction and analysis, as always. Regarding the "Lisa, can you teach me Japanese, I say hai hai, that is my life life" line, early on Kpop Lisa was often being confused with Japanese Lisa, a famous singer in Japan. Hai Hai, translates from Japanese as Yes, Yes. So, she is not saying don't come at me with that nonsense. She is actually saying, sure, I actually know Japanese and can teach you Japanese. But I am still annoyed that you are confusing me with Japanese Lisa or any number of other Asian artists. Now Lisa has over 100 million IG followers and is the most popular Kpop Idol in the world, and Blackpink is the most popular musical act on RUclips in terms of subscribers. So confusion happens less often, but still does happen (a RUclips reactor to RockStar made that exact error, being totally unaware of Blackpink Lisa until he reacted to Rockstar and previously only aware of Japanese singer Lisa) and Lisa has just learned to accept it as a fact of her life, ergo the line "that's my life" (i.e., explaining that I am someone different than the artist they think I am). Obviously she is also commenting on the stereotype of grouping all Asians in one bundle. Later she shows Thai gang members and Thai Ladyboys, another sets of stereotypes that some people see as all Thai people. However, she is showing support and acceptance of the ladyboys by presenting them in poses that depict them as beautiful and seemingly saying "here I am, beautiful, proud, and living an honorable life". As you know Lisa is very proud of her heritage as a Thai, who (along with other Southeast Asians) are looked down as inferior by South Koreans, Japanese and Chinese. Lisa is also coming out darker skinned than in her Blackpink music videos. Dark skin complexion just within Thailand is considered a trait of the poor rural and uneducated indigenous Thais. Throughout the day on Thai TV, skin whiteners are being advertised and are extensively used. Thus, dark skin color has a negative connotation within Thai society and is a sign of the lower social strata. The point being that Lisa is not only expressing her pride in Thailand but also expressing pride in her heritage as a dark-skinned indigenous Thai. As you may be aware, the upper social strata of Thailand is filled with a lot of Thai's of Chinese decent, who are light-skinned and have different facial features than indigenous Thai's and tend to only marry with other Thai's of Chinese decent. Thus Lisa is not only someone all Thai's are proud of, but one that the darker skinned indigenous Thais can identify with and be proud of. And in stark contrast to her music video bad girl image, look how careful Lisa has been about her real-life reputation as a good girl. To my knowledge she has been practically a nun, avoiding any rumor or scandal romantically speaking, careful to avoid any hint of promiscuity for which Thai women are stereotyped as. Only recently has she been linked romantically with a man, Frederick Arnold, President of a prestigious fashion brand and one of the heirs to one of the wealthiest families in Europe. Which IMO is more of a badge of honor than anything else. Sure, she will do a provocative live dance number at the Crazy Horse Cabaret, but with her boyfriend and Blackpink sisters in attendance.
They weren't confusing her as japanese they were just being rude. In reality they asked that question because they didn't want to acknowledge that she was a SEA descent. So they kept asking her if she was Japanese. In her video, to me at least, she is saying SEA are asians too. You are correct about the negative connotation when it comes to darker skin tones.
As far as I know at my 45 years in this earth "Hai" means "Yes" in japanese...😅😅😅😅

I remember watching your reaction for this MV before. I was curious why you didn’t speak or react a lot. Now, I know. For the Japanese part, OG FC said, it happened during the fan sign that someone asked her to teach Japanese. It’s either mistaken her with another Japanese singer or pretend not knowing that she is from Thailand.

and tattoos guys, many people hypothesised that she wanted to show colour of Thailand that we treat everyone equally. We are free to express themselves, their true gender and have freedom to show her tattoos. In certain societies, these are not well accepted. If you follow some news from big country in Asia, there were discussion on social media whether Lisa is a true woman or transgender (you may know that there are anti-fan). Another issue, she was criticised when she got her first tattoo. These are all hypotheses.

It’s a decent song for an introduction to her new era. Some good lyrics great but it doesn’t have much narrative so I think with the dancing there’s style over content. I see an and intro to her new range of identities for the album. But this song wasn’t written much by Lisa which I know is not industry standard. I think there is lots of references to other music videos, dua lipa, drake, Ariana grande ….. but as the first video to start her narrative it is causing so many great reactions, amazing dancing and great styling… it just a bit repetitive and I think is dissapointing. Love some of the photography, very 80’s retro which I think is fantastic. Well branded. LOVE.
Well this song was reclassified as POP, not by her but by spotify, if I'm not mistaken. I could be wrong...but she didn't reclassify it herself like some people are saying.

Whole Lisa can you teach me Japanese, hype hype, life life is awful tbh. It's so repetitive. I don't know why she needs to say her name in every song. Like she's my boss but I was hoping for better. I only like this from 2 minutes onwards.
It seems like the only reactions that people are willing to release are the ones that are positive cuz I'm a little surprised that there are that many positive reactions to this song. Not that it's a bad song, but it's way too repetitious and monotone in most of it. I was really hoping for more. long wait for an average song. Hopefully the next one will be better. Also, Lisa is a beautiful woman and can pull off pretty much any hairstyle but they seem to choose mostly unattractive hair for the most part. Also, Lisa has probably the most attractive smile out of any woman and they don't use it in this. They should have had her smile at the end and show the star. I remember seeing a few of her posters for one of the brands she was promoting and none of the pictures she was smiling. What are you advertisers thinking? Missed opportunity.
